First Look at Using Garmin Live Scope XR LVS62 to Catch More Fish!
Просмотров 16 тыс.2 года назад
We got our hands on the brand new Garmin Live Scope XR LVS62 and decided the best way to test it was offshore, in open water doing what we love, chasing snapper on plastics! Garmin Live Scope XR is made for deeper water than the original Live scope. This makes it perfect for saltwater fishing, especially reef fishing and chasing pelagics. It made our ability to locate fish much easier than trad...

Crazy Kayaker Almost Dies Catching Big Mackerel & Snapper (Station Creek Trip)
What time of the year / month did you go?
We went at the end of November and weather was mint!
Use your maps and sounders to there full advantage and u might actually catch somthing and not hit rocks
thanks for the heads up we might try that next time
Great vid boys. Was there a few years back and caught my PB GT from one of the headland off boat. Hopefully wasn’t much damages to the rig.
Lovely Ep and spot and fish guys, Gee last Time I was there was only around 30ks of dirt
Thanks for your kind words! The military has now paved a lot of it but there is still big sections of dirt road.
Wow so dangerous, Some local knowledge and prior experience in the area helps a lot. All though good video for many reasons 🤙🏾😉
There was a little ‘editing magic’ involved to make it more entertaining but the situation was real. We hit the rocks with the boat just in gear but the waves pushed us into the other rocks, we then got stuck and were very close to being there for a good 6hrs or more. I’m glad you liked the video, we have some more stanage content coming if you want to subscribe 👍🏻
All the gear and no idea 🤣🤣
There was a little ‘editing’ to make it exciting but yes mistake were made 🤦
You might need a bigger net but either way that was a quick release. Those are some beautiful bottom fish and you hooked a bunch. I couldn't tell if you were getting cut off on the rocks or by sharks but I know that frustration. Very good video thanks 👍👍
Thanks for the kind words. We were getting cut off by the reef, if your not quick enough the trout can get back in their homes and cut you off.
Whenever I camp around the Percy group I fish for Spanish flags for dinner, they’re top chewing. Good vids lads.
When you get them at about 40cm long they are great on the chew!
All the gear know idea 😂
I will admit mistakes were made 😂
@@FishSource all good lads Ep2 was great 👍
@@simonkiegerl7061 thanks for watching! I'll admit we aren't the best crabbers but we sometimes get lucky and find fish.
You left a very good crabbing and fishing area for very mediocre crabbing and poor fishing. That is a mistake
Coffs is fantastic for both yes but we don’t get coral trout or other northern species here in Coffs. This day the weather wasn’t great offshore so our backup plan was crabbing. Watch the next episode and you’ll see why we went north!
@@FishSource I live in Rockhampton. Fish out around the Keppels, never caught a coral trout ever. As for crabs, I go to Yamba every Christmas as the crabbing there, Mud and sandcrabs is way better than anything I can find around Central Qld. NSW also has spanish mackerel. I cant find these off yeppoon anywhere.
@@AnthonyLeavey-j1q I can't speak for Rocky but there's a heap of trout off the islands around stanage, watch our second episode (and the rest) as we find a lot of trout! We don't really travel up north to catch the same stuff we get here so we don't usually chase crabs or spanish macs. But I agree the mid north coast is a fantastic location for all fishing!
@@FishSource Still a bit far to the islands for my 4m boat. I cant afford a bigger one as I don't work in mining or construction. So i'm restricted to about 15km
Yeah a bigger boat does help! I took my boat once and it was 4.6m, did hexham, marble and percy in some pretty windy and wet weather but we made it. Not sure i'd try in a 4m boat though!
That was wild boys, one of those nightmares you have waking up in cold sweats haha but I gotta say it in a dad voice "wear shoes" Glad your all OK
100% agree 😂 not the best situation. The next trip we did up there we all bought shoes!
@FishSource sorry forgot to say new sub here too! Yew 🤙🏽
Thanks heaps! We also have a new video every Friday at 6:30pm for the next four weeks! 5 total for the Stanage Bay Trip 👍🏻
Can’t believe the amount of hype around stanage, place is flogged out. You won’t get much with those cheap pots in the big tides. Too many pro crabbers now.
We only crabbed because the wind offshore was too strong, the next episode we spent offshore and it was awesome.
Its definitely very very very overrated
No good fellas, if I were you I'd try the new Sea map reveal! It's an sd card that you put on your gps/sounder! It's got amazing detail of depth change and what to look out for!
Yes we use relief shading but it doesn't have estuaries. Afterwards we did noticed its marked as a hazard on the normal maps, we honestly just didn't check it. Our biggest problem was the rocks were not out of the water when we hit them and the rocks out of the water were about 20m away. Really just a poor decision all round.
Heavy situation lads but cool heads and quick thinking stopped it getting worse . Well done.
As Dayne said they were almost done because they were worn out. We would have been heading home after dark!
Old Vonny that used to be at the bait and tackle shop had hand drawn maps of all the rock bars. Look on google earth and you’ll see them all, then picture the tide 6 metres lower and there are rocks everywhere.
Great ! what`s the maximum deep you have test it. we fish in 50-70m deep
We tested it to 50m that day. I’ve been told it will work over 70m upto about 120m from memory.
Epic Macca. Thanks for the beers afterwards 😂 you selling the evo 3s?
Keep an eye out on Facebook Market place 😉
Well done Macca’s, great win.
Awesome video guys! I was wondering, does the transducer display fish at trolling speed?
Yes it will but we have tried at slow speeds using the electric motor
Great video! I just got a lvs 62 can't wait to install and test it! I see that you have a garmin force, is the shaft long enough? I wanted to get one but my dealer told me it wasn't going to be long enough even with the 57' shaft. What is the distance between your boat's bow and the waterline? Thank you 😁
It is just long enough on Daynes 4.95m boat. He is however getting the new Kraken model that has a longer shaft. They just came out and would be worth a look!
sick boat and catch more fish than ever🐋🐬🐟🦈
I will Lotte!
Cool video. Garmin LiveScope XR is cool. I am equally impressed how strong those spinning rods are!
Awesome transducer and great video!! Please tell me what your pole mount set up is and where can I purchase it? Thank you
Hi Mark, we use the Robbie Payne Live Scope pole, you can find it here www.transducerpoles.com.au/options/garmin-transducer-poles/
Incredible!
Awesome stuff! I'm getting a pole mount made for the XR. Which pole are you using?
The Robbie Payne Transducer Poles. You can find it here www.transducerpoles.com.au/
@@FishSource sweet thanks! Does it bang around when cruising offshore or do you have to take it off the rail when underway?
@@kane1928 we were driving very slow when looking for fish, basically just in gear and it would angle a little bit if not really tightened up. Remember it’s on a Ram mount that can move. Once tightened and just in gear it was ok though. I have seen it permanently mounted at the back on American boats and they said it’s works fine. I like the Ram mount because you can move it around to better aim it at fish.
Sorry I didn't really answer your question lol. It didn't bang for us, we loosened the Ram mount, pulled it out of the water and then retightened.
So epic definitely keen to upgrade from the old panoptic haha
Its next level!...We used the normal Live scope at Monduran for barra and it was great, this is the one made for salt / deeper water and it was super helpful to find where the fish were!... Next we want to dial it in deeper water and try it on pelagics.
@@FishSource for sure keen to see it
Sooo many situations & scenarios going through my head of where this will be awesome to use! 🤯 We've done Snapper & kings on plastics out to 60m already & can confirm its awesome & works - clearly seeing fish sitting 60 in front of the boat in 40+m of water. But think about this... Chasing inshore Black Marlin, Casting to GT's & Trout up on the Reef, Black Jew up North, Top water Tuna - so many possibilities 👌
I've been thinking about how this could apply to pelagics with perspective mode looking forward while trolling 😍
@@FishSource Or even have it facing out the back watching your spread of lures or live baits being trawled behind the boat & seeing pelagics come in for a look or byte 🤯
@@NorthCoastBoatingCentre Great idea!
Mad video Dayne and fish source crew ! (I'm guessing it wasn't Dayne who put it together, no offence!)
You would be correct Jordan but Dayne's skill shines in front of the camera and spotting fish on live scope for the rest of us to catch! 😆
That's a awesome sounder
If you have any questions about lures, technique or anything we did in this video we are happy to answer your questions 👍
Awesome
Brilliant release, well done 👏
Nice job boys.....bit of a horse.....sneaky close to the "get in trouble if you get caught zone" too!!....lol.....
Wasn’t even that close, it’s a fair way from the sanctuary. We were hoping it was bigger than 91cms as that’s Dale’s longest but he thinks it felt heavier that fish. Thanks for watching 👍🏻

Great release mate 👍

🍻
I can relate to the $100 BFP sticky being cast of feeeels 😂
It hurts the wallet! 🤣🤣
great day fellows and good vid . can you tell me what card have you got in the gps on boat that showed all the rocks on the screen like that . looked awesome. thanks for help. cheers
Hey Jason, Its called Relief Shading and its available on all good sounders. You can get it as a download from Navionics Platinum cards, C-Map Reveal Cards or Garmin Bluechart G3 cards which is what your seeing in the video. I'll be honest its great!... but it still needs more mapping. It shows the shelf really well and most inshore reefs but some middle to deep ground before the shelf isn't mapped yet.
Great content 👍
Top notch lads!
