Hey assuming you're shooting SLOG-III, you should look at Leeming lut pdf, I back then when using their lut ETTR my recording. ATM with the Siii I will say that my best result in day light is 640 or 1600 iso with an Nd filter, I try to not use 12800 iso unless it's necessary. It's true that because we have the 12800 iso solution we want to use it to be sure everything is well exposed but to be honest sometimes if the scene you're shooting is dark, than why pushing the iso to make it totally not so dark ? The best way to expose is to use a waveform without lut applied and see if your whole image is sitting in the middle, so nothing at the bottom and nothing at the top unless it's something that's blowing like a candle or light. If you want to use a good ev ref +1.7 max is where in most case I retained good image quality. You could also set your zebra to limit 94+ and you'll be good to go. PS: for exemple, I use a lot 12800 iso while shooting anamorphic because to get something sharp and good looking you need to stay at 4.0, 5.6 aperture and in many cases lower iso suffer of the dark look of the anamorphic. For an other exemple I used to shoot shows before having the Siii and since I have I shots shows at 12800 by facility but the result was to bright and not really looking like the shows was, while when I shot an other show at 3200 to 4000 iso the result was way better and looking real even with a little bit of noise.

Hey I will go I full manual mode and keep it at 12800 iso if its for night shot and keep your Aputure low but don't go to close to the base Aputure, lenses shine one or two stop over. If your Lens is 1.4 I will try to push to 2.8 for exemple. For my long experience with the A7siii between 640 to 3200 you don't see many noise, at 4000 you start to see some. when you go to 12800 its the second native iso but keep in mind that it can flatten even more your image. I remember I made this video just a few weeks after having the camera. now with the experience and the use of Davinci I always try to keep it as close as possible near the native iso 640 or 12800. The most important is try to have your color balance right this is what cause the most noise when grading :) I hope this help don't hesitate to contact me

@@jameskbrsa999 interesting note about the color balance. Do you mean on selecting the correct Picture Profile and White Balance? I agree the optimal aperture is a bit above the base. For example my Sony 20mm f1.8 G FE lens will do low light videos most sharp at around f3.5. I agree 640 to 3200 is ideal. However, when shooting in really low light, I think 12,800 to 25,600 is ideal. I think that is better than allowing the camera to go into the 8000’s range for example as 12,800 is better than 8000 for SLOG3 on A7SIII. I would greatly appreciate if you critique my videos. @@VeeTravels Yes definitely keep it to 12800 iso not under, but going to 25,600 I never did and never had to use it. Something I learned working with guy in the cinema is that sometimes if you can't see things in real life why would you see it on your camera ? - For the white balance I mean if it's daylight set the correct balance for daylight, also enable s.gammut3.cine that's really important, and don't listen the you have to overexpose by 2 your image or by one this is totally nonsense since every shot is different.
