    I hate when it comes to watering people use time as a unit of measurement. When in fact watering should be measured in inches just like rainfall is measured.

    • @locustgrovelawncare
      @locustgrovelawncare 29 дней назад

      That is true, but the average homeowner probably won’t put rain gauges in the yard to measure that way. Though it is helpful to know the lawn is getting evenly covered as well.

    Instead of peat moss- which has potential problems of its own. I recommend water that lawn HEAVY for 4 days. For example: every 2 hours on timers. You'll get complete germination, and you can overseed as necessary after that.

      @Blanaba День назад

      Instead of peat moss just use compost.

    • @patriotmjb
      @patriotmjb День назад

      @ that would work. I still don't love the idea of adding different soil on clay but it would be a temporary boost. May add to fungus/moisture issue in the future, especially if you plant bluegrass.

    • @locustgrovelawncare
      @locustgrovelawncare Месяц назад

      If you’re using a dethatching machine, no more than twice a year. But if thatch builds up more often, you can use a dethatching rake. It would put a little less stress on the lawn. The one I have is the Groundskeeper II, which does a pretty good job without damaging the lawn.

    • @debbiebrock2665

    • @stephenreiner1523

      Oh my you can't get all that dead grass out with any rake, I've dethatched lawns that looked like windows of hay ready to bale. That's why I like using reel mowers instead of rotary mowers like a Locke but you have to rake the lawn to remove sticks and stones, just about anything that would get caught in the reel. But they sure cut nice. The average homeowner doesn't need something like this it's more for estate management with a myriad of formal gardens. Believe me I know.
