The pulse-by-pulse current limiter should also work if you put the current shunt at the primary side of a flyback or push-pull converter between the MOSFET sources and ground. But in this case you have to set the current according to the primary voltage, to limit the current at the secondary side. And you have to make sure to set the current twice as high because it starts from zero and goes to its maximum value. This needs to be twice as high as the average current you need at the primary side. You forgot to mention the feedback pin. It can (should) be used for compensation (f.i. by use of a 10 nF capacitor from the non-inverting voltage error amplifier pin to the feedback pin). You can also use to shut the controller down by connecting it to the reference pin (f.i. by use of an opto coupler). But you can also shut down the oscillator by connecting the CT pin to ground. For setting the output voltage to a voltage higher than the reference voltage you can connect the reference pin also directly to the inverting input of the error amplifier in order to save a voltage divider. So you only one voltage divider from output to ground.

Why when I pass a wire through my current probe (a wire between L and the diode in a boost converter), do I get the same shape as if I were measuring the voltage at the switch node, but smaller (I dont get a triangular shape)?
