    In 2022, I took the leap to study a Master’s in the UK, believing it was the start of a promising career journey. Completing the program was a proud moment, and I was optimistic about utilizing the UK’s post-study work visa (PSW) to build a career in my field. Then, reality hit. Since 2023, I’ve sent out a staggering 3,700 applications for roles that align with my qualifications. But each application has met a quick rejection. Despite my best efforts, I found myself left with one option: a labor-intensive job in a hotel-a position that had nothing to do with my degree. It paid just enough to scrape by, but not enough to justify staying in a foreign land with a massive student loan hovering over me. After a year of struggling with this choice, I returned to India, hoping to find something closer to my field. But here, the job market is saturated and underpaid, making it hard to keep up with my loan repayments. I’m left wondering if I’ll ever get a chance to work in my chosen profession or if the debt I’ve taken on for my education will ever be a worthwhile investment.

    My niece recently came over to do her Masters in the UK. She told us that out of a batch of 75 in her specialism, there was one local student and all others were from abroad. The local student was sponsored by the employer! As it can happen when there is such a huge mismatch, hardly 10% of the students got placement in the field they qualified for. Due to the pathway to residency being offered through a 2-year post-study visa in the UK, the UK got over 60 post-graduate baristas, waiters/waitresses, shop attendants etc. I am not underplaying the dignity of labour here, but rather stating that these would at most be stop-gap or informal choices for the students who MAY find suitable employment in their professions, or would have to go back home at the end of the visa period with no experience to boot.

    Wow, this video is really an eye opener to the hidden realities of studying abroad! Thank you for shedding light on the financial and immigration risks that often get overlooked in the excitement of pursuing education overseas. The deep dive into data and real student stories adds a much-needed perspective to the conversation. It's so important for students to understand the long-term financial implications of education loans and the uncertainties with immigration policies. More-over, I have come across many students who opt for part time jobs to fund their studies end up leaving their studies uncompleted.. This video will definitely help all Desi students who are considering higher education abroad..

    As always, interesting. It got me wondering if folks in The States went through this years and years ago. The term toxic work culture did not exist. We, men and women, were glad to have a job. We worked 6 days a week and 8-10 hours. Like any, I worked 7 am to 9 pm one or two days a week. We were happy to have a job. Nowadays people work 5 or fewer days a week. Maybe India will move out of long days. Interesting stuff gets folks thinking.

    Nothing can be done in any major city in India. It will be better to start building a planned, modular & modern city from scratch - a nation within a nation type of structure. Think of Hong Kong or Macau or Shikanouville etc. Modi and his gujju mafia are trying to build Dholera etc. Dholera is a failure from start. My suggestion would be to build an International, cosmopolitan, tax free, port, tourism & casino based city and urban center in Andaman Nicobar Islands. Beach, tropics, green and clean. Dubai type - zero personal and single digit corporate tax. Move all financial offshore "within" center to this city. Make it tropical, modern, clean and disclipined paradise like Singapore or Phuket or Phu Quoc. City will be under a semi autonous rule, maintained by retired Army personal - no party or election destroying its existence. City will issue passports to residents who show they deserve to live. Without a work permit or student ID or income verification, no one allowed to live in it. This will prevent beggars, footpath sleepers and slums. Industries that could support a city state like this would include petrochemicals, financial, services, IT (need fiber optic undersea connection from Singapore and establish 4-5 datacenters), banking, company and family offices, tourism, Income will come from Tourism, Casinos, Ports (both cruise and commercial container port), offshore banking and financial services setup, company formation (Jersey isles UK type or Delaware US), trade, real estate, high end hotels and resorts, retirement, NRI and OCI settlement, travel & leisure, sports, higher education, etc Casinos: India has no casinos or any high end upscale legal venues. Indians gamble $100 billion at least annually just in cricket. This city will get 10%~20% of that revenue. Capital/Cost: I estimate $5 billion to $8 billion to set up something for 500,000 residents to start. My company is now building a $1.5 billion waterfront sister city to Busan in SK. Financing: I can organize the financing from our own private investors, with 15% capital upfront needed for initial outflow from the city state. My offer: We own 50% of the city for first 30 years, then after loan repayment we dissolve shares down to 10% or whatever our law firm negotiates.

    Bhubaneswar is another planned city and the capital of Odisha which is better than even Chandigarh, because the city is more spread out and thus has zones which can develop further when the population grows to that level. It is soon going to be another major IT hub in the near future❤

      @tanmaymishra8919 Thank you for your informative response. Good wishes to Bhubaneshwar and hope lessons are learnt from other cities that have experienced unprecedented population explosion due to IT.

    • @tanmaymishra8919
      @tanmaymishra8919 17 дней назад

      @@TheGlobalDesis True that. We are already starting to see traffic snarls at Jaydev Vihar and Patia. Especially Patia which is the hub for IT companies. I just hope that the government understands the challenges that the future holds for the city and plans well in advance. Else we will face the same consequences that the major cities of Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi face during the current time period.

    • @TheGlobalDesis
      @TheGlobalDesis 17 дней назад

      @tanmaymishra8919 Yes, focus on public transport is a must. Not trying to be idealistic but for a city to be truly developed, the rich should be able to use public transport reliably rather than everyone being able to afford cars.

  • @bhargavbellam
    @bhargavbellam 17 дней назад

    For traffic, I would suggest a Holiday for Private Vehicles for atleast one day in a week (Most probably a day og weekend). It would encourage public transport and cycling through the city which also boost the health of individuals and environment. For spacing, Governments should focus on lateral expansion rather than horizontal. As you can see, in agriculture or horticulture or anything that involves sustaining a life, spacing plays the most crucial role. Similarly urban jungles should also have something like that. For water, we should use more sustainable methods like recycling etc. We also know that water is a limited resource and there is a need to get gears on that. No water No Life. These are my thoughts, subject to correction, and I hope this wouldn't hurt anyone's feelings or sentiments.

    • @TheGlobalDesis
      @TheGlobalDesis 17 дней назад

      @bhargavbellam Thank you for your thoughtful response. I agree we need to come up with creative solutions when the traditional ones are not effective. In case of land use planning, we are reliant on Government authorities. It is good to see private societies taking a lead on water management at a micro level, although more can be done at a policy level.

    • @bhargavbellam
      @bhargavbellam 17 дней назад

      @TheGlobalDesis Thank you for your response, too. As to your saying, we can relay on private entities, but at what cost. Getting things done by private entities at the micro level would surely turn into capitalisation, and slowly, a boon turns to be a ban. Considering the water management, governments should start creating and implementing efficient drainage systems in relevance to the supply system utilizing skillful engineers in the path of Sri Mokshagundam Viswesarayya. Governments should ensure that its every citizen has access to very basic natural resources such as water. Coming to land utilization, I may suggest that the government should ensure that no more constructions in all pre urbanized centers and growth should be unilateral to the existing city. A Land Protection Act can be made to ensure this with strict instructions to upgrade the existing infrastructure but no urbanization in pre urbanized centers. Still a lot more thought to put on it, and governments should enact on it. Ofcourse, not just the governments but also the people too, as we know Yadah Prajah Tadah Rajah in democracy and I'm very sorry to say that our prajah doesn't even have civic sense leave alone social responsibility and empathy. Maybe they'll change when Mother Nature comes haunting us all.

    Britain and America is always portrayed as the big bad boogeyman of the world but please honestly tell me the country that doesnt have some form of dark history? Youd genuinely think some people believe everyone was sitting holding hands under rainbows until the big bad white man came marching over the hill 😂. They were just fortunate enough to become superpowers first, had other countries started the industrial revolution they would of no doubt suffered the sins of all men and followed the same path. Illegal immigration is a mockery to tax paying citizens and legal migrants who have gone through the proper channels to work and live in the west. I try to no longer get hung up on history and instead try to focus on the present and the future, the world cant carry the sins of their ancestors forever.

    • @TheGlobalDesis
      @TheGlobalDesis 2 месяца назад

      I agree illegal immigration is a different beast. Unfortunately legal and illegal are grouped under one. Then there is an aspect of Britain exploited countries like India which had almost 25% of world's wealth back then. Most of wealth in UK is result of same exploitation. Even in absence of Industrial Revolution countries of Indian Subcontinent were at peak. Industrial Revolution was just one way of advancement, not the only way. Today on hindsight it may feel it was the only reason world advanced. I understand the fear in the west on how hordes of immigrants can change the way of life in these countries. What I am trying to highlight here is this is a new way of colonisation, this time with power of skills instead of guns. I agree we can't just delve in the past, but we should not forget the root cause of why many are moving in from poorer countries, the countries which became poor due to exploitation of West.
