Tail of the Dragon Riding with My Wife and Friends
Spring of 2024. My wife on her KTM 1290 SuperDuke R, my friend on his Aprilia Tuono, and his wife on her Suzuki SV650. This is an amazing place to ride. If you ever get the chance I highly recommend going. The area is not only great for motorcycle roads, but the scenery is amazing as well.

In this video I tail a friend of mine. I had taken him out a couple of sessions to help get him comfortable on track. This was his first time on a race track ever. Either he is a quick learner or I am a good teacher, because for his first day out he did very well. His bike is a 2019 Aprilia Tuono V4 1100. I am on my 2009 Kawasaki ZX6R which is fully race prepped. The track is Grand Bend Ontario...

I got the pleasure of riding the Tail of the Dragon recently. While I was out playing I came across a CBR1000RR that wanted to play. We were pretty equal in skill, so it made for a good ride. This just goes to show that bikes bring people together. Ride safe my friends. See you out there.

SOAR Racing - Rookie Challenge -September 12 2021 Ride along onboard my Kawasaki zx6r as I participate in the RD5 event of the season. It started to rain 20 minutes before the race started. So on went the rain tires and my first time having rains on my bike. This race was a learning experience for me. And I still have a lot to learn! Enjoy and thanks for watching.

Here is a highlight reel from my weekend racing. I ran in Lost Era lightweight and the Rookie Challenge. Weather was cooperative for Lost Era, but not so much as it came time for my second race. Swapped over for rain tires, but this was my first time running my bike in the rain. It did not go as well as I hoped. Thanks for watching.. Cheers!!!

The best mod you could do for this bike would be performance! Nice opinion though
Looks like fun. Hmmm did I miss something? :)
Get yourself a bike and join us 😁
Looks good.
Pointless watching it mate we can't see what you're doing you need light on the bike so we can see
Yeah. Sorry about that. The shop was new to me at the time and I hadn’t had a chance to add lighting.
Hey bud. Where did you get that mid fairing with the flush mounted signals? Or what would I search online to find those?
It’s a race bike. All lights have been removed. The area when the lights would be it’s just painted fibreglass.
I saw that it’s a race bike I was just hoping I could get that fairing and find a light to place in there. I work at a body shop and I’ve fabricated a few things for my bike so putting a light in there shouldn’t be a problem assuming I could find one. I just really like the way it looks. I got ran off the road on Monday. First time I’ve ever laid a street bike down in my life. Now dirt bikes….thats another story. LoL. I put so much work into my bike and was so angry when it happened. Dude didn’t even stop. He took off. I’m alive tho so I guess I should be thankful for that cuz I nearly got ran over by a car coming the other way.
@@mossberg636 that really sucks. Sorry to hear that happened. Glad you are ok though. I’m sure there would be some way to fabricate lights into the race fairings. I have thought about doing that myself when I put this bike back to street someday.
Thanks brother. Yeah, it was crazy. I was sliding down the road on my back in the oncoming traffic lane. A guy came around the corner and saw me sliding down the road straight towards him. He slammed on his brakes and by the time we both stopped I was under the front of his SUV up to my waist. I felt really bad for what I put that guy through mentally. He got out and was like holy shit bro I thought I just killed you cuz I just disappeared under the front of his truck.
@@mossberg636 scary 😬
Bro what type of oil do you use ? Be specific we have the same bike 😎👌
I used motul 5100 in that bike

Awesome racing Chris! Way to hold a commanding lead, great defence in the end!! See you this season!
Nice vid man! Thanks😊
put some music in the background !
This was one of my very early videos. My last video going through there on the ktm has music in the background. 👍
hahaha i thought the same, i recently bought one z800, and the seat is sh*t. I would appreciate more z800 videos to get more ideas and learn something mroe Greetings from spain.
I unfortunately don’t have this bike anymore. It was a fun bike though. Off you do have questions I may be smite to answer them. Enjoy your new ride!
Not overly happy with my HJC rapha 70, visor will not stay in open even at slow speeds
Something is wrong there. I have never had an issue with that. I’m still using that same helmet to this day. Make sure the visit is installed properly, and that none of the teams are broken off. Hope this helps. Cheers

My bolt is stuck..help
Which bolt?
@@rideon2-997 ithink its called banjo bolt. 2 bolts holding caliper attached on disc. I fixed them tho
@@robortalien glad you got it sorted. Sorry for not getting back to ya sooner.
are there fuses you have to buy to be able to hook up the QS or are they already pre installed?
I didn’t put any fuses in it. You could add an inline fuse if you wanted. Wouldn’t be difficult. It didn’t come with any.
No, doesn’t come with any. You’d have to purchase one.
holly fuck the rookies are all over the place..lol
Yeah. That one was a couple years ago. It got a little crazy at the end there.
Compare fit of each to fit of CL-17, please
The 11 fit close to the 17, but the 70 fit a size smaller. Hope that helps.
@@rideon2-997 so if moving from XL size CL-17 to the 70, one would order large RPHA 70, correct?
@@edorazio1 a large rpha70 fits like a med cl17
I really got to stop being so hesitant to make passes on the first lap. Nice pass on me
That’s something I’ve been working on myself
Thanks for posting. I love seeing myself in action.
I have sunday’s race to edit yet as well
Sorry dude, I couldn't take the inane music.
You tube only lets you use pre approved music. I’m not a fan either. Sorry
Hi Chris, I have an older Princess Auto version - no pneumatic function, different front chock and rated for 800 lbs, but otherwise similar. I had a number of issue with it and I address them all in my own video at ruclips.net/video/tMKky9NRGQI/видео.html
Where did you get the new plastics from?
The rear fender was the only replacement piece. I got it from the local Kawasaki dealer. Then I camo wrapped everything.
If you want to sell this bike, I would be interested.
I got rid of it a while ago. I could see if the shop still has it if you are serious about it. It’s located in Ontario.
How did they compare?
Hard to say. It was his first time ever riding track. And I have lots of track experience. I have only ridden his Tuono on the street, but it is a fun bike that can handle track days no problem.
You guys are great!
Do you have a link to purchase that seat online?
It was just off of eBay. But last I looked for another guy there wasn’t any left. Sorry :(
hey buddy I bought a wrecked z800 awhile back and I'm gonna paint it and was wondering if you have any tips on removing and disassembling the rear suspension. Also I saw a video about a comfort seat but there were no links in the comments or description so if you could help me there as well it would be greatly appreciated.
That comfort seat is no longer available unfortunately. S as for the rear shock I haven’t taken one out of that bike. There is a shop manual on manualslib.com though. Hope that helps.
@@rideon2-997 excellent thank you for the info on the manual. ride safe bud!
what about the ventilation between the 11 & 70? I suppose you've more experience about it since you uploaded the very good video above.
Both have very good ventilation, but the 11 seems to let a little more air through. However that comes at a cost of a bit more noise
Hey, you see these red pins/tabs/clips, one connecting to the fuel tank and the other to the airbox. How on earth do you put them back in place, I have spent hours trying to, but it does not want to go back. I would really appreciate your answer.
When removing you stick a small screwdriver in the end of the red tab and slide it halfway. That unlatches it for removal. To reinstall push the fuel line back on and slide the red tab closed again. Hope that helps.
@@rideon2-997 Thank for your reply. That sliding back is problematic, the tab just does not want to slide back easily and it starts deforming, unfortunately I don't have a way to show you what I mean.
@@laponiec ya man. Sorry. Next time I do a tank removal I could show in detail how to do it. But that’s not gonna help you right now. We’re yours possibly siliconed? That’s is a requirement for racing….
@@rideon2-997 No, no mine is just a standard street bike, they came off really easily. nevertheless I still appreciate that you replied to my question.
I'll smoka y'all on a 400....
Just got the 300 ninja to play with. Can’t wait 👍
Hey man thanks for uploading!! What all did you have to buy for your bike did it come in one purchase? I have an 06 636 looking to get a QS! Really appreciate it.
It was all in one. Found it used in the classifieds.
Here are some things I'm discovering when using this for my 650ish LBS Kawasaki Concours. Take off everything from the bike you can before putting it up on the lift (bags especially). Make sure your kickstand is up. Remove the back of the wheel chalk if you plan on using the motorcycle center stand. Block the back wheels of the lift before trying to put heavy bikes on it...the lift moves even when the front table wheels are raised. ADD A STRIP OF DUCT TAPE TO MARK THE CENTER LINE. I used bright orange, and to be honest, all lifts should come painted that way.
I bought one the other day. They added U-bolts for tie-downs
what exhaust do you have?
Sc project cr-t. Stupid loud.
Man, i really needed the venting comparison.
The 70 has a Ram air like scoop on the top which directs a lot of air in. The 11 has smaller ones and the air flow is less noticeable. The 11 feels like it lets more air in through the chin area than the 70.
Hey man, I need the eBay link you used to purchase this shad z800 chair.. I also need to know from you the setting adjustment on the fork and the back suspension.. I’m 5’10’’ and barely have 1K miles on my new stock z800
Hey bud. I just checked the link I bought that seat from and it isn’t available anymore. As for the suspension I never adjusted it. My wife rode it more and she was happy with its setup. Sorry I’m no help to you 🙃
Nice job recovering Chris..👏👏
Thanks. Definitely not a good race in terms of results. But there is plenty I can take away from this experience.
Looks like a pile of fun Bud. Well done
i’ve rode the stock seat for 4 years and I promise you this man isn’t lying 😂 idk why I haven’t switched..
Great video! That start was sketchy! 😮
The stalled bike on the grid? Haha. That can happen.
On sale right now at Princess Auto for $499 until Aug 15. Picked one up for my Street Glide. Thanks for the video.
You forgot to say to open the lid of the reservoir before opening the caliper piston
I did. You are right.
Put a brake bleed kit on the bleed screw and you can do that too
hey bud ..just a little bit of friendly advice ..you are too much on constant gas.. watch Alberto Naska's videos on this ..it helped me improve immensely
I always love feedback. I have checked out his videos. They are very informative.
