I booked two different Fairfield Inns this past year for traveling with parents. If traveling solo, I prefer primarily 2 star or struggling 3 star Wyndham properties (desired review for 3 stars "this hotel is so old and rundown") usually Super 8 or Ramada. Unfortunately hotels can get weird about after midnight guests checking in and at a hotel in a different chain, i had some minor difficulty checking in after 12am, such as the door was locked. I noticed that the amenities from location to location can widely vary with the Fairfield. Both locations i were at also had small rooms, so you didnt surprise me there. My favorite of the Fairfield Inns actually had an IHOP restaurant onsite and the standard smart tv you would usually find at Marriott themed hotels. In the other hotel, I had trouble finding USB outlets for my charger. However, I will say that that both hotels had superior hospitality and took time to get to know their customer. When booking, I also noticed that some older Fairfield lnns away from prime locations actually charge some of the same rates as economy hotels. And while Marriott's fees sometimes make the stay more expensive, the initial price for some Fairfield Marriott (not resort) hotels was under $115 and in some rare cases actually under $100! In the near future i have decided my next visit is a grudge match between a poorly reviewed older Fairfield Marriott with small rooms, supposedly police calls, and a tiny breakfast area vs an economy hotel that is part of the Wyndham chain. However, the plus side for Marriott here is, that poorly rated Fairfield Marriott hotel being in an area with plenty of restaurants and a nice looking regional shopping mall.
