I tried this yesterday with the big one on a hunch and IT WORKS. I'll keep it up every other day for a month before restarting pull-ups. It's a hell of a lifesaver.

When you stand up from the lunge, which leg powers that movement? Do you push from the front leg or kind of pull from the back leg?
Great question! You will use your core and the glutes of the front leg to drive yourself back into a standing position.
Can I do this as my actual workout? I’m so sore and achy from a very physically demanding week but still want to ‘workout ‘ without hurting myself- especially my back.
I think the warm-up is a great place for people to start incorporating movement and making it their workout. As one becomes more advanced, he/she may choose to increase the intensity and still use this as a way to get the heart pumping before beginning more strenuous exercise. However, it's a great initial step and depending upon how much you intensify it, you will really see the results!

I only have my couch to sit on. I notice your knees are higher than mine are when sitting - does that matter?
Great question! Ideally I like to have my hips and knees in line when I do this exercise, but you can have the knees below your thighs. As long as you pay attention to your form you'll be fine!

Sometimes when I get out of bed my calves feel kinda tight. Is there something I can do for that too?
Definitely adding a point and flex of your foot while you're doing the hamstring stretch on your back will help to lengthen and activate your calves. Then once you're standing place the ball of your foot on a book or some other slightly elevated object and lean your body into the stretch slightly. Make sure not to lock out your knees, but you want to feel the stretch down the back of the lower leg. I'll be sure to show a calf stretch soon to help people lengthen their calves!
Embracing Epic A Thanks!! Did these this morning and noticed my right hamstring was SO tight I couldn’t straighten all the way. Why would it be tighter on one side vs. the other? Definitely doing hamstring stretch from January videos!

Do you have any guided meditations you would recommend for newbies?
Yes I love Oprah & Deepak Chopra's 21 Day Meditation Series. They often release free 21-day meditations that you can try or if you want you can purchase a variety of their series. For me they work great because they're short (they speak for about 5-8 minutes) to focus your mind and then you meditate for about 10. The entire thing lasts no more than 20 minutes so it's perfect for an antsy girl like me!
“Livin’ the dream, baby!” And yes, we really are lucky that we can get up and move. It’s a new and refreshing framework for the whole ‘working out’ thing. It’s easy to take for granted our ability to just get up and walk around.
Instead of thinking of movement as the dreaded "work-out" I'd love to see people reframe their thoughts to "How lucky to Get Up and Move"!

You can DO IT! Just commit to yourself and don't negotiate! When we negotiate with ourselves it allows us to stray from our intentions. When you feel the urge to "wait 5 minutes" just get up and move for those 5 minutes! Can't wait to hear how this week goes for you :)
During the holidays I wasn’t that disciplined about moving correctly- oh, hell- moving at all.🤫 My hip flexor muscles are really tight so Im loving anything that’ll get me moving- correctly- and help my muscles, especially the hip flexors, loosen up. Thank you!
