Final Cut Pro 11 first IMPRESSIONS
OH BOY!
Final Cut 11 is final out and it comes withe amazing new features.. OR SO THEY SAY!
I take a stab at my first thoughts on the new transcription tool and magnetic mask tool. I was impressed with transcription it was really well done but i don't love that i still have to use another tool to get my titles.
For the Magnetic Mask it works amazingly well but for some reason when filming it did not want to track the mask for what i thought was a fairly decent mask... it could be that my screen recording was causing some big hiccups for it. I'll keep you posted.

Switching to DaVinci Resolve from Final Cut

In full honestly this video was filmed like a 9 months ago but got so busy I never got around to it. News flash i'm still using both. Nice video. I to have been using Davinci more and more. I started playing with Final Cut Pro 11 myself. Magnetic masking worked perfect for me first time and I can see using it for certain videos, but I do not know if this is enough to move me back over to Final Cut Pro. Davinci keeps getting better and better as well, so like you, I'm really on the fence in how much time I want to spend in Final Cut Pro 11.
I’m glad you like the video, and I understand how you feel. I played in Final Cut to mess with the magnetic mask again and it’s really good. The captions are nice and I’m trying to think through if it’s worth leveraging another way to make it work better for me or not because like you I’m finding resolve to just get better and better with each new update.
@@OnlineCreatorStudio I do a lot of real estate videos, the one thing that Final Cut Pro does do best, is speed ramps. But the color grading in Davinci blows any of the other editors away, and I keep going back just for that. LOL The latest Davinci 19.1 has some fun features now as well. So, they both keep making it harder and harder to edit videos because I spend too much time trying to figure out which to invest time in. LOL
UPDATE: My issue with the magnetic mask was that I was filming my screen. It was able to track fairly quickly and, like, STUPIDLY accurate. This is going to make creating creative ideas much easier and faster. honestly, I'm more excited for the future of Final Cut than I was when I finished this video. haha

I gave this a try on my old podcast as well. I don't think it did much to help get new listeners or even downloads. The best you can say for it is that it might help with "brand awareness" or something. I would say I had WAY better success with Overcast. I can definitely see from the analytics on my podcast that I was getting at least downloads from Overcast users. So in that respect it was worth the ads buying on Overcast.

how would I add an animate in and out to a list title I downloaded? I can't seem to figure this out loll.
You add a marker in motion when you want it. This is usually where it’s animated in. Right click on the marker and set it to animate in. Then go to the end and do the same thing.

I"m just a noob, but i'm really happy with the speed editor in combination with my regular keyboard with custom hotkeys. I believe the scroll/jog wheel is the best part of the speed editor and editor keyboard. Also the portability of the speed editor is nice. When it comes to pricing, don't forget they both come with davinci resolve studio (activation for two computers)

Off topic question, which Mac model and specs are you using for resolve and what camera footage do you use? I’ve heard that Sony video codecs are heavily to edit and color on resolve compared to other names. What are your thoughts regarding that? I am thinking of getting g this keyboard because it comes with resolve license and should make my editing life easier and faster.
I’m using LUMIX cameras often 4k 422 10bit but never really had issues grading. Especially in m1 macs
I just bought the editor keyboad and love it, I hope to get an answer to my question about the F/TC key. Everytine I press is to get to a certain location on a mediapool clip via timecode, the number field switches to frame count, in other words everytime I press the F/TC key it defaults to frame count. I have right clicked on the number field to change it back ti tC display, but it seems to switch back to frame count. How can that be fixed?
Good question. I'm actually not 100% sure if you can have it switched. I think it might be something you have to do with a modifier. I'll test it tomorrow and see if I can figure something out and then get back to you.

Thanks for your video. I’ve found that the shuttle pro 2 works really well with resolve and is a fraction of the price of this keyboard.

I love your video, and I too am coming from resolve, and have purchased the keyboard as an “all-in gesture” and to get the studio version of resolve. I was wondering if you knew of ANY COURSE WHATSOEVER on this exact device? There really is one needed!
As far as I know I haven’t seen anything. I’m still trying to understand a few things but I’ll keep this idea in mind.
Question. The raw files stay in the SD of the camera and do not download to the Ipad HD? My Ipad only has 64gb HD, so it won't be enough if the files download to the Ipad.
They do not. But I think they get synced to the cloud once imported
