just a short video of our day, the waterfall was down to a trickle but we still managed a dip! beautiful wild location. the track down to the waterfall is about 3.5 km. definitely do able to hike but maybe not in 35° heat with children, hence why we took the car :)

Why not go to your moms for a couple of week while he finishes at least one room. Your needs are real and important.xx
@@dtaylor9133 we do go down to sozopol of a weekend quite often, it does help. I wish we could finish a room but right now it is impossible until the new kitchen is finished. One thing will follow from another if that makes sense. Upstairs is underway but still a long way to go there plus new staircase has to be built!
Great video. FYI: anything written in purple is really hard to read.🙂
@@Rai-Bulgaria yes, I was meant to edit that!
Thanks for sharing your journey, NC USA 🇺🇸
We have all this to come, and we keep saying what are we going to tackle first when we move there. Truth is, it all needs doing, but the priority will be a proper bathroom and kitchen, the rest we can do once we have that sorted, but when the weather is nice we will want to be sorting out the garden lol. Much tougher for you guys with kids mind, at least we only have us to worry about. The bigger picture is that you obviously love your life in Bulgaria so you must be doing something right. Keep smiling, you'll get there in the end. 🙂
@@NewBulgarians yes we tend to go between the house and garden as well! As you said before, malko po malko. This is my new mantra 🤣 when are you guys planning on coming to live?
@@ourlittleeden yeah we always say malko po malko lol. We will be living there as soon as the house is sold here, so it's just a waiting game at the moment.
I have been where you are mentally and physically in the house situation. I thought it was the house, but it was the location. My issue was loneliness as a new mother and since we moved to be closer to the city I feel so much better being able to socialise more and being closer to civilisation. Having the quiet rural life is amazing as well but if you can strike the right balance between the two it helps. I can now look past the unfinished bits and enjoy it more. Your little man is gorgeous 🥰
@@ourderelictdream thanks 😊 I have a few mum friends but one has partially relocated so it's hard for us to meet up and a couple have given up and gone back to the uk 😪 luckily we are only 10 mins from town, I know I wouldn't cope being very remote. I think you are right that it could be a bit of loneliness creeping in. There are loads of English and meet ups here but most of them are over 60 🤣 Your new village looks lovely. I hope Hudson is enjoying his nursery :)
@ourlittleeden just getting out and about more really helps and having a few hours a week away from childcare also helps! Xx
thanks for putting yourself out there and giving us a full reality check, I sincerely hope things get easier for you its fantastic what you have already achieved and an amazing start for your family growing up where they do. the uk is only get worse as far as I can see. best of luck to you all and thank you x
@@Temple211 thankyou :)
Yes, I completely understand your feelings about living in a renovating house. We are also 3 years into making over our English house and living in it is been difficult at times. Projects after project things are getting done, but the finishing touches are building up. Some of the secrets are to take time out and make a work list, tick the box, tidy up as you go along, and have a relaxing area. Enjoy your efforts. When you feel like you've had enough, go out to the market or take a nature walk, then get back to it with new powers.
what are you working in bulgaria

We’re in our third year too and like you we have not one room finished lol… I just keep plodding as it’s just us doing it ….we still haven’t unpacked boxes that we shipped over, I used to feel like you are but now I just don’t worry about it all, it’s been hard as we had to replace our entire roof including timbers and no sooner had we removed it Bulgaria had the wettest period they had I recall it rained for nearly 2 wks, a true nightmare. I just look at what we have achieved in the short time as apposed to what we haven’t done. We have had to prioritise certain things and learn as we go. Hang in there and I find whistling “ always look on the bright side of life” from Monty Pythons Life of Brian helps and makes me smile.. chin up and keep plodding.
@@nuttermecharena yep we still have stuff unpacked in the attic 4 years on! I do try to look on the bright side as much as possible it's just been particularly mentally draining this year. We have had a few nice breaks away though this year which has been lovely. Which area are you based?
@ Evening, I think we are all guilty of starting too many projects and that’s when it becomes overwhelming especially when you’re living in it. Sometimes though there is no option but to have a few things ongoing at the same time and I too feel like when is it going to end . But hey my view is I can only do what I can and we will get there albeit slowly. It’s taken time to adjust from the busy rat race to the quieter and slower pace but at this point have no regrets leaving Blighty behind. We are about 40 mins north of Varna with a beach just 5mins away, if your ever this way let me know happy to meet up. we have been coming to Bulg for around 25 years which is when we originally bought our place but only started overhauling it , and my did it need it, in the last few yrs. I love the people and climate here and am thankful that we have excellent neighbours, one thing I really love is that we all help each other be it borrowing tools, helping do works to giving each other plants etc…there is however some local competition in that whose tomatoes are better sadly it’s never mine lol we’ll take care and keeping posting progress.
Nice video ... I've spent 10 years in London, it's nice if you have the money, but if you don't - not so nice.
Living in a house that you are still working on can be a real challenge, especially with a young family. I blitzed through my place the first few years and then ,due to health reasons, I moved in before it was finished, since then progress has been painfully slow. I am lucky as I live alone, so the only person that gets to see the dust is normally me. Stick at it... As you rightly say...Going back to the UK is not an option....I was back in May for 3 weeks for the first time in 6 years...more than enough.
Not going to lie it's a lot harder than I thought it would be! I do think social media has a lot to answer for as well. I started following lots of reno accounts and some of these people are complaining it's not done after 6 months 😳 so I think I need a digital break from these places ro be honest!
@@ourlittleeden Don't lose sight of the fact that you are in a fairly unique situation with the kids being back in the UK for a while. The uncertainty around the visa's adds extra weight that is a constant ''invisible'' concern. Once that is done the new life really starts and everything else is just part of the fun.The day they come through you will be lighter than air, so tie a weight to your foot or you might float away. 😀
@owenoneill5955 sorry mate you're on the wrong channel! Our kids are here oldest is at school in bulgaria and we moved before brexit so no visas.
@@ourlittleeden Ah yes sorry. there is another couple here and they are apart while they are waiting for Visa's. She gets a bit down with it here too sometimes.
Hi we’ve followed you for a while ( new beginnings in Bulgaria) Ivan is working 5 days a week here so we can stay. I end up staying at home with the dog which is pretty lonely tbh. You vent girl, Bulgaria is lovely and we too don’t regret the move but its as you said not all sunshine and roses ❤
@@teresamanley8284 it's all a big novelty for the first year or two, so you don't mind living rough so much but 3 to 4 years in plus another baby has taken its toll on me, my imagination runs away with me and I really hoped/thought we would be further along by now. But the reality is Jim is doing 90% of everything himself and we can't really afford lots of workers. I can see the light at the end as we have the new kitchen on the horizon but think now I need to see it to believe it haha 😄
Yes England is such a struggle especially when Christmas times hair everything is so expensive the government's falling apart
Very nice video looks nice and peaceful 👍
I know exactly where you’re coming from in regards to renovation. It’s so hard, we moved to France but my husband ended up working pretty much every day, the renovation made very little, sometimes no progress. Then his back went and we were stuffed. Sadly we had no choice but to sell and ended up back in UK. I have never been happy since returning, France was home not the UK. No easy answers but definitely think staying in Bulgaria is the right decision. UK is such a mess, I would escape tomorrow if we could. ❣️
@@Warnz60 thanks for your comment! It is hard and I have had a bit of a wobble this week. But whenever I'm feeling down about it I try to remind myself where we are and why we are doing this. It's just heavy at times! I hope you guys manage to escape again sometime and that you can find peace in the meantime 🙏

How exciting, looking forward to the final result. What are you using to protect the wood please? Know exactly what you mean about not focusing on one thing with so many other things to do, it never ends. Dogs are so funny.
