Making a Traditional Puukko
Making of Traditional Puukko Knife
A friend of mine called me and told me that he was moving to Lapland later this summer. He asked if I could make a knife for him so I did. I wanted it to be cool and useful knife and decided to do a puukko (actually it is basically the one and only option in Finland) and nice leather sheath to go with it.
The steel I used for this knife was high carbon steel made for knife making. The wood in the handle was birch that I found from our firewood pile. I also used brass and leather in the handle.
Hope you enjoyed!

a Beautiful Ring From a 50 Cent Pipe Fitting Making a HEX NUT RING From a Brass Pipe Fitting In this video I tried to show, how I made this ring out of a 50 cent pipe fitting. I decided to go with quite big and masculine, yet simple design. I made this ring mostly using hand tools and you can do the polishing part on a drill press or even a cordless drill will work. I really hope you enjoyed wa...
Making a Simple Dagger

Knife making- Making a Dagger From an Old File I made a dagger out of an old file. The wood I used for the knife handle was curly birch and the guard was just a piece of mild steel. Other knife handle materials were some scrap plastic and mild steel. This was my first dagger build so far. It was a pretty long project and I think having a belt grinder would help alot with future knife making pro...

Making a Beautiful Wooden Pipe -Woodworking [Pipe Making] Woodworking- Making a Wooden Pipe In this video I will show you how I made this wooden pipe. I made this pipe from curly birch. I know those, who are more into pipes will say that it is not good wood for pipe making. That is kinda true but I will not be using this pipe a lot so there is no problem since the only downside of using curly b...

Restoring Stanley bench plane Part 1 In this video i´m going to show you, how i restored my plane's handle. Handle was broken and in my opinion it´s better to make new handle than try to make broken handle work again. If you like the video, Click that like button and subscribe for more! Knife making by hand- MAKING MACHETE!! Part 2 here!!! ruclips.net/video/VV5hEcXRskM/видео.html I know that is not the best way to make bevels, but i think it doesn`t matter that much with machete. Another video coming soon.... If you have idea what i should to do next, please tell me. And sorry my bad english...
In the world I live in, if my friend wants a knife, he goes to the store or online and spend a lot of money to get a machine mass produced knife identical to every Tom, Dick and Harry who owns one of the same brand and model. Your friend got a custom handmade unique one because his buddy has amazing skills and workmanship! People like you is becoming extinct so kudos for being the few rare ones left 👏 👏👏
Круто молодец👍
🤩
Eero Nissinen löi😢
*Looking good 🙂*
You have created a nice knife through the creative use of a few simple tools, ¡good work mate!
Just watched Jon Levi right before this and his intro is the same song 😂 tripped me out
Why is that tang cut up like that
Good One….😊😊😊
Handle turned out very nice!
Dope AF results, Onni Nissinen! Now it needs an equally dope sheath/scabbard to complete the package!
man, your improvised tools are awsome! You prove that if you are talented craftman, belt grinder is unnecessary
Absolutely brilliant looking knife and so skilfully made using inexpensive tools available to most people. 👏
Great looking dagger. Good job.
great video but i cant read the subtitles
This video sucks. Most of the action is off the screen.
I just really liked the angle grinder bevel jig. I never thought about doing that. really nice idea thank you.
the music is just a distraction and annoying, turn off and watch
too much handle
Beautiful knife, excellent fit and finish 👌
Молодец .
Музыка очень гормонично подходит
How dod you connect the holes after drilling?
It seems the only thing you can’t do with an angle grinder is bake a cake. (and I’m not so sure about that.) Nice puuko. You nailed the tempering color.
Made no sense not something repeating 😢
It is better not to give text information. This diverts attention.
Nice
Nice pipe ( marcus . Greer )
A really nice build using tools and materials most of us have hanging around.
Great. What kinda wood is that
Looks like Curly birch...
Looks very uncomfortable with the both sides not filed off it should of been rounded so it’s comfortable around your neighbor fingers
Great background music!
Puuko also don’t have plunges… you want the edge disappearing in to the handle
No. The shoulders should not be perfectly flat… they should slowly open in a gentle curve…. Major weakness by squaring them like that..
Lapland! I would have used 4 mm at least… for batoning which will be the way he’ll split up there
That's a beautiful knife.
This is far from the most perfect knife. Bare minimum of what it needs to be is all it is
mihin öljyyn karkaset?
Anybody else watch Jon Levi? Same song
What polishing compound did you use? Thanks!
The best gift for your boyfriend would be the truth about puko. In other words, the handle is devoid of any anatomy and security, the Nordic sharpening is the second worst after the hollow and the most basic their steel belongs to the age of the dinosaurs. Surely your work is perfect with a beautiful result, but a utility knife is not enough for beauty.
Thats not very nice, besides the obsession with super steel and man made handle material in a full tang without the ergonomics of a puukko is useless in my opinion. the scandi grind works in this part of the world, because it is the perfect thing for wood work. not everyone needs 5mm thick blade full tang self defense survival knife, it has its place but not for everything.
I responded to a comment and didn't see that the handle is not actually cylindrical. Sorry.
How far back does "traditional" go? Does it include the Wirkala, with the (approximately) rhomboid cross-section handle? A cylindrical, barrel, shaped handle would not be as easy to control turning in the hand, I imagine. Beautiful knife, though. Thanks for video.
Вы большой молодец!
Браво майсторе,успехи,живот и здраве,поздрав от България.
Well done on the finish, really liked the end result.
What did you cover the wood with? carnuba wax?
thats my type of pipe,
That bevel jig tho😂 when I first saw it. Good stuff. This is like my 3rd time watching this vid. 👍👌
