Rebuilding Cheap Waverunner

I was lucky enough to be able to find a non running ski for only 500$ which is hard to come by where I live. It needed the basic work, but the harder I looked the more stuff I took apart. I rebuilt it start to finish in this one video. If you have any questions let me know! Thanks

Corroded Jetski Gets A Second Chance After Sitting For 10 Years With Sand In Engine
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.3 года назад
This ski was filled with sand, overheated, and then sat for 10 years allowing corrosion to take over all of the internals. I tore the engine apart and spent over a week picking, scraping, and removing all of the corrosion. I was really excited in this video because it is my first time pulling a jetski engine and rebuilding it.
What Happens When You Don't Flush A Jetski?
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.3 года назад
What happens if you run your ski in the ocean, shallow water, brackish water, or in the sand and do not flush it after riding? Corrosion and scale builds up. This jetski was ran in shallow water and then left to sit for 10 years after it had over heated. After diving into this engine I explain and discuss what happens when you neglect your jetski's engine. This will happen on any jetski, seadoo...

What Tools Do You Need To Work On Small Engines?
Thank you ! I fixed the changing (up and down) rpm of my iGen 2500 using this video. Extremely useful !!!
Older 2200 Westinghouse. Added propane conversion kit. Started and then stopped. Removed the propane kit. Still starts and then stops with gas. 4 months ago, I added the kit, deleted the combination gas off/ to ground switch. Added a toggle for ground and use existing switch for fuel only. I checked my work and put away with it running on gasoline. Everything was good. Saved my money (needed hose, fittings, and propane). Now its October and tried using propane and it starts for 1 second and then dies. Does this for both types of fuel. I for no reason had purchased a "China" new carburetor. I exchanged that carb and have the exact same problem. HELP! Thanks
Excellent video bro, I have this same battle ahead of me. I used mine last year camping in Sedona. Put it in storage for a year, forgot to drain the fuel. Time to get to work 🔧
Great video. Thanks
I have this one, nearly two years of occasional use less than 100 hours. then the control knob came loose this summer, won’t start. It swings freely now so I’m not sure but maybe a screw on that mechanism has come off.
Thank you for your video bud! I'm doing this job on my 96 next weekend. Auto shop wanted over $500 to do it!!!
If you appreciate the simplicity of the Yamahas then you're going to love when you crack open your first Sea-Doo
You're awesome man. Thanks for making this. Both of my units just like this are messed up. Figured the carbs were gunked. Looks like I got some work ahead of me.
I think thats a 56. Excellent motor, I restored one...
Ya mine was super clogged like yours. I left the back cover off and blow compressed air, what a mess😢. After cleaning up all the dust. Refrigerator is now making ice again😂 plus I have a dog, lots of dog fur.. my compressor would over heat and shut off. It's do to the condenser being clogged. Thumbs 👍 thanks for the video.
Well done I’ve got the 1500 and I now see a lot of disassembled is required to get to the carburetor but you have inspired me to go for it. Tired of choking it back to get some kind of even idle. Thanks
@@kurtcressey2829 good luck! Hardest part of all of it is just putting the outside plastics back together.
Wow, that the oldest, smallest, johnson i have seen.
@@Jerold-bu3ul I gave it away for free too! I gave it to a high school kid that needed a motor for his jon boat, I figured it would be good for him to learn how to work on it himself.
My bearings are worn out i think i might be doing this tomorrow 👍
That's a sweet motor! I wish it was mine! FYI, they need a lot of 2-stroke oil in the mix. About 1:24
@@dumbluck6180 This one was super clean for it’s age. I’m glad I did research because I almost used 50:1 in it until I found the right ratio. I think I used 25:1. 24:1 sounds right, thanks for the tip
I have the WH2400i (green case) and today wouldn't start no matter what. Took the case apart and shot some starting fluid in which fired up for just a second. Haven't started it in a couple of years. Going to take it apart again and clean the jets. Must be completely clogged. Weird because I always drain the bowl.
Did ya get rid of it yet ?
Ended up giving it away for free to someone in high school that had interest in outboard motors, told him this is about as simple as you can get
@@nathanbishop1999 👍🏼was interested in it I’m rebuilding a retro skiff and was looking for a motor in that era , 😏
What is it with all you beautiful people … 25 instructional videos now - hoping to save my wallet >>>--> Everyone vacuuming like golden moment (thank you for speeding up). Everyone uses 2-3 devices - Some say brush: I see the brush and get links. All say vacuum: I see vacuums and don’t need links. Most claim vital is air compressor: I see no air compressor and get no links!!! What type, example, of air compressor? It is not like my portable tire air compressor. That did not work. I search Amazon for air compressor: $300.00. I can DIY a working frig better with a thin 85.6 mm x 53.98 mm piece of plastic. (God give me patience 🙏)
@@AliWeighsB4AliBuys if you get an air compressor go to harbor freight, they are the cheapest and I have had mine forever from there. Anyone will work, smaller air compressors are louder and don’t hold as much air but they will work. You could also use a leaf blower, or flip the hose to the other side of a shop vac vacuum.
Good morning. I have rebuilt a 1968 6 hp Johnson with my good friend and neighbor about 4 years ago and took it out and it ran great! I bought a 1957 7 1/2 hp Johnson same year as my boat but haven’t had a chance to check out anything about it yet-life! I will get to it but really like that the motor and boat will both be 1957! Maybe its just me but thats ok also! Thank you for the video and enjoy watching people work on older motors since we did my other one! Thank you again and have a good day! Finding an original hood emblem is hard for these older ones also!!!
Thanks for your comment, I did not know about the hood emblems. I do like these old motors and almost anything with a motor. It is pretty crazy that all these years later the thing still runs, todays new stuff won’t last as long as these do
@@nathanbishop1999 Good morning thank you for responding and some day I will get to my boat and my 1957 motor and hope I get it working ! Thank you again and have a good day
Man I pulled my carburetor off twice and cleaned it before I found this video. I wouldn't have thought to look under the stepper motor for another orifice to clean out.
thats not an air filter. its a flame arrestor
I love these old motors. Thanks for sharing! 👍🏻🚤
I have an iGen2300 that won't start. If I hit it with some starting fluid, it will start. I need to take the carb off and clean it but getting it out looked like a nightmare. Coming across your video was very helpful. Thanks!
This is a great video man, most people don’t know they can buy used generators so cheap and fix them so easy
Looks a lot like my 94 c1500 pickup 2wrd.
@@paulforest1373 they’re pretty simple to work on and last forever
These are my favorite because I always thought as a kid that they looked like a vacuum cleaner. They are super simple and easy to maintain
I hate videos where you don’t show the work smh just lazy
lol , you’re not wrong, it’s all a learning process for me
Thanks for the excellent demo
Hey bro. Could this be done on 03 s10 4.3 with 2wdrive?
just bought same 1 today
That's awesome, they aren't the fastest thing on the water but they are so easy to work on and you can learn most of the basics pretty easily with them
Very informative thank you all these videos were not for mounted fan like this so truly appreciate this video. Go DIYers!
Exactly what I was looking for. No other video on RUclips would show this!!!! Thank you!
Lucky you I had to pull the whole motor out of my S-10 with an l31 vortec. I replaced the front seal too with a plastic cover, instructions sez to put silicone under the plastic cover to the front seal or it will leak. Came to see if someone did it on RUclips.
Is the cardboard on the back of refrigerator necessary...and also on the bottom
Does the cardboard absolutely have to be put back on,??
Yes it does, the cardboard helps force air over the condenser, without the cardboard it could over heat
I'm wondering if the old fuel filters are rolling around on the bottom of the gas tank.
They are not, I went back and checked off camera, ended up taking fuel tank out to make sure it was clean lol
I do have a attic and it has some almost standing space. I haven’t looked up there yet but my attic has a wood floor so I don’t know if I’ll be able to find the support beam. I’ll take a look since if I would go through all this trouble, I think I would want to install a new ceiling fan since mine is over 20 years old and the light fixture isn’t working properly. I was considering replacing the light fixture and seeing if I can tighten it up. Mine the case on the ceiling doesn’t wobble but you can move the fan motor back and forth more than one the others in my house. Any ideas how I might be able to fix that? Great video!
Very good video!!! Straight to the point
On many frigs (including mine), to do a decent job, you need to empty them out & tip them up against a wall to access the coils from below. It's a real pita.
love the retro vibe, i have a chance to buy an 88' WR500 for $600CAD that runs. approx. $430USD. body needs TLC. and no trailer. is that a steal or no deal in your opinion
I just did mine. I was able to take only the passenger side of the exhaust apart since I recently changed to gasket on that side. I just moved the flywheel cover over enough to get to the nuts, and maneuver it to free the pan. I did the reverse to get it all back on. The worst part of the whole job was lining up the holes with the brackets on the outside of the pan, the pan itself, the gasket, and the block to get the bolts started. I figured the brackets are probably there to give an even pressure across the entire pan. So I couldn't discard it. Once I got that in, the rest was actually quite simple. Chevy's are awesome.
All that dirt just blew to the back where you cleaned.
Ya, should of left the back open till he was done.
@@knuckles1006 I was thinking the same thing.
Hello, recently had a small tiny Oil Leak on my 96 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. And got the part to do this exact thing, I have some questions that I would like to ask. I’m a particularly young fellow not familiar with the in and out of mechanics, will this be a hard or difficult job to do? When I ordered the replacement pan set, it came with 4 small other pieces, where do these go? If you’re able to explain that.
You think 91 GMC Sierra simular or pain in the neck?
I just tightened screws that i figured i could find. Im not kazy, but NO WIREING FOR ME!!!
Mine did wobble but at 2nd gear it ok. At 3 speed it not as good.
I got a 95 c1500 pickup. I'm pretty sure I have just enough clearance as well does the gasket seat properly any leaks? Seems like it'd be difficult tryna cram the oil pan back in and not move the gasket around? Get back to me imma go ahead and order the gasket
Not good video I could do that I want to see labor
at 5:30 to pull the pan out freely you need to pull out the wiring harness directly under the pan to make it easier. then put it back when you reassemble. also, when taking out the pan bolts, put a rag over the cross member. this is because there's a hole there and if you drop a bolt (like i did) you will have to fish it out.
Did all of that, but the coils actually rest on the floor! Any suggestions for elevating the entire fridge permanently?
You can buy an elevator with wheels, with just 10 bucks.
Nice
