BULLFROG HUNTING a small pond with a 10 FOOT POLE

Hunting Bullfrogs and Greenfrogs in Pennsylvania. If you never tried it, you should! They're the chicken of the swamp. What we do is have a black widow telescopic pole. You tie on some fishing line and a small barbless hook. For bait, use something red or purple. We typically use a small piece of a senko. A good tactic is to find a small pond with a walkable trail around it and take your time. ...

Opening day for Dove Hunting is finally here! In this hunt, I set up some Dove decoys between two sets of corn where I have been frequently seeing Doves and Pigeons. For decoys, I am using 2 Lucky Duck spinning wing decoys, a Mojo Dove Tree with Mojo clip on Dove decoys. The Doves were flying as I was setting up, and as per usual, they stopped flying soon as I was finished setting up. After 20 ...

    The ONE thing that turns me off on X-bolt. No way to remove striker assembly without A Vise or special tool no one makes. All they had to do was provide a small hole just behind the collar in cocked position. Slip in a small pin, remove the bolt, unscrew the assembly. Good to clean, remove rain water, etc. Ruger 77 did this. So did Browning Mauser and many others. A very minimal modification that provides a necessary convenience in a rough country hunting rifle or Any Rifle.

    "Browning X Bolt" vs "Sako S20 Hunter" vs "Tikka Super Varmint Roughtech" vs . "Browning BLR Lever Action Lighteweight Stainless Takedown 1981" First time hunting rifle buyer here, wondering about that short-list of hunting rifles, which, if any, would you recommend? I'm looking for 30-06 at least for now, need to get good & accurate, game will be deer or possibly elk, unlikely > 200yd shots, hunting likely in Alberta/BritishColumbia. I'll be getting a great scope ($1300-$1900 range). Thanks in advance to anyone who can recommend one over the others. The lever action is a bit of a difference from the other offerings, I'm aware, so omit that one if it's too much of an apple vs orange thing.

    • @GUNDERMAN
      @GUNDERMAN 4 месяца назад

      I don't have any experience or knowledge of the Sako S20 Hunter. However, I do have experience with both the Browning X-Bolt and BLR. They're both great guns. In my experience, the X-Bolt is definitely more accurate. But if most of your shots are gonna be within 200 yards, the BLR is more than accurate enough. Between those 2 I would suggest going to a gun shop that has both and hold them. They feel completely different. They're both more than capable of doing what you want, so if they both feel good and you're still stuck, choose which one you like the look of more. You can't go wrong with either of those, both amazing guns!

      @OhGawdHesGotAGun 4 месяца назад

      @@GUNDERMAN Hey man thanks for taking the time to reply! I like Tikka, but I've heard from more than one source that for 30-06, their recoil is a bit too strong. Sako is their big brother & a bit heavier, and the Sako S20 Hunter ticks all the boxes for me, including 'takedown', since I want to transport whatever I get in a shorter case or even a guitar case. I would prefer the BLR since I just love lever actions and I don't think I'd be taking any 200yd + shots. My only concern is how a scope would be mounted on the BLR. I don't want to deny myself anything the scope can do for me, and I don't want to have to go hunting for the cocking hammer under the eyepiece of that scope. I considered a Sako S20 in 7mm as well, but I have to "get good", and getting good costs a lot for ammo. You can still get 30-06 pretty cheaply. Appreciate your suggestions. I'll have to give the X Bolt 2 a feel-up at the local retailer. I just want to know what a BLR is gonna be like to live with, and don't want a top quality scope to be wasted on it.

    • @GUNDERMAN
      @GUNDERMAN 4 месяца назад

      @NunchucksHabit no problem, let me know what you ultimately decide on! Just wanted to let you know that cocking the hammer on the BLR with a scope is not an issue at all. I can promise you that because my dad's BLR has a scope and not an issue. But if you want better accuracy, BLR is the least accurate of the 3 you are interested in. You'll get about 1 MOA. The other 2 are gonna be around sub MOA with the right ammo

    • @OhGawdHesGotAGun
      @OhGawdHesGotAGun 4 месяца назад

      @@GUNDERMAN Thanks, yep the BLR is a bit of an odd consideration in that group. I love lever action & takedown is a huge plus. The Sako20 Hunter is also a takedown, but I like the X-Bolt a lot. I'm pretty new to the scene, and though I have a cheapo .22, I'm looking at getting as good a hunting rifle as I can get, something I can put time/effort/investment into & not want to get a better one in another year or so. But I also want something 'fun', something I can get good at. I don't realistically see my taking any shots > 200 for hunting, and range shooting is likely < 250 anyway. I've also been taking advice from several channels on what caliber to get. I have to get good. That's gonna take a lot of ammo. For deer/elk, I'm told 30-06 will do the trick. I want to side on "too powerful", but only within reason. 200yds with a 30-06, I don't see a reason to get a 7mm/300PRC/300WM. I want to be welcome at ranges, not that guy who has to launch 40 cannon rounds per session. I considered a 308, but that's erring on the low side for elk. If I was a crack shot, I'd perhaps get a .270, .308 or 6.5CM. Looking at the ballistics, I thought a 6.5PRC was perfect, but then I saw the cost of ammo. Sorry for the long comments, and I understand if you can't reply now or even at all. I just like to take advice from people who know what they want & why. I was actually just about to buy an autoloader (B.A.R. or a Benelli R1), until I saw Ron Spomer try them both on his channel, and all they did was choke on ammo & spray nasty looking groups. Never saw a bolt action perform like that. I hear it's the adjustment of the gas piston that racks the next shell, but inaccuracy was an eye opener. Sub-MOA should be expected on something I'm gonna want to take humane shots with. Thanks again, man, love that XBolt. Wonder what the XBolt-2 has to offer.

    • @GUNDERMAN
      @GUNDERMAN 4 месяца назад

      @NunchucksHabit X-bolt 2 didn't change much. From my knowledge it's just a new appearance with different grip options and cheek mount. Nothing else changed I don't think. If you want a do-all cartridge from North America to Africa and everywhere between, 30-06 has done it all and will continue to do it. Since you watch Ron Spomer you probably heard him say it as well, these newer fancier cartridges usually aren't worth the hype. It's all marketing. Yeah they'll shoot more accurately with higher BCs but that's 500+ yards until you notice a difference. If I were to make a suggestion on a caliber, given you're probably gonna be hunting deer and elk by the sounds of it (I've never shot elk I wish I can lol) I would suggest 30-06, 270, 300 Win Mag, 7mm Rem Mag, or even 308. Get something that os accurate, strong enough, and most importantly something that is readily available and won't break the bank. 7mm PRC is more expensive and isn't readily available as say 30-06. 30-06 will be everywhere. Even archery shops have them now. I wouldn't go looking for these newer cartridges because you're not gonna notice a difference at 200-250 yards.

      Maybe because that junky ass scope does everything I need it to do? I'm not a competitive shooter or shooting 1,000 yards. I'm a northeast deer hunter. Absolute furthest shot I'm ever gonna take is MAYBE 300 yards if it ever presents itself. 99% of my shots are gonna be well within 150-100 yards. Don't need a $1,000 scope with 25x zoom and extra turrets. Don't need to adjust anything at 100 yards. Do I need a $1200 gun? No. But do I want a quality firearm that $400 firearm does not offer, yes.

They have limited COAL, slow twist rate, 2 position trigger, and a lot of plastic parts. Also the xbolt is more comfortable. Trigger is the biggest difference which can be fixed with a 15 dollar spring. Xbolt has better safety features, better stock ergonomics , flush mag, shorter bolt throw, m16 extractor which I think is the best, and just as accurate in most cases. It’s a lot easier to get an Xbolt worked on. Beretta USA is HELL to deal with.

    Take a shot for every time I say "It's a pretty sweet little gun" 😂 didn't realize I kept saying it until I was editing the video.
