Nice video. I used to do well at the Algonquin dam too.
I have caught many fish on the Fox, from Wisconsin to Yorkville, Illinois. Since 1972. We caught bucket-fills of 12 inch bluegills, and 15 inch crappies. From the river and the Chain-O-Lakes. Pier fishing on Lake Petite, catching 60 fish or more a night.
Aye bro nice! Are these fish okay to eat ?? I live nearby
YOU GOT A MEAL!
Dope ass video bro🫡
Man i missed that dam. Fished it every morning on the way to work. Id ride my bike on the trail when i lived in carpenterville and stop there to slay a few. Worked at petco by the mall
Fox R fisheries pretty good. Multi-species fun at times. Heavy fishing pressure at most metropolitan areas areas. Great to see bald eagles, hawks, cormorants, herons, etc. I remember earlier days, late 60s -70s, health organizations warned of eating Fox R fish. Lotsa’ trash & pollution in river…cleaned up nicely. More respect given to environment over the years.
How common are White Bass in Northern Illinois?
I fish below Geneva (a lot) I have only caught a few white bass along with smallmouth. You hammered em’. Love the Fox!
DO ANY WALLEYE LIVE THERE?
Did you watch the video? He caught one
Loved the video. The Fox is know for having sink holes. They will carry a person to another town. Be careful Bro.
I used to get walleyes on the east side of that island and smallies and white bas on the south end. Before the area at the power plant was redone you used to get pike in the spring. Im in Arizona these days missing the fox river
Nice video
Nice fish 🤟
drums are fresh weater lubsters , the ones 13-15 inch are best
Yup water temps below 50-55 and they are delicious
TAKE AN OLD MAN FISHING SOMETIME
THE HEAD OF THAT DRUM WOULD HAVE MADE GOOD CATFISH BAIT
I catfish this river alot. I stopped using drum for bait years ago. They just don't seem to like it very much. Any panfish species is better. Smaller chunks do better here. The fish are mostly channels with a few flathead. I catch more flathead walleye fishing

Hey man, hit me up if you want to go fishing sometime, I can take you to some good spots in the river! - John 🤙
Thanks John! Follow my Instagram @midwest_angling and we can link up some time🤙
Good video man. I fish at the yorkville damn on occasion and do pretty well with smallmouth. Never expected to see white bass and crappie coming out of the fox that easily. Keep it up
Nice 👍
What's up bud i just moved to Illinois fron Nashville trying to find good fishing spot would you mind sharing the location. Glady appreciate it.
It’s the Carpentersville dam. I would recommend going early morning or at night right now as it gets very crowded during the day.
Nice work. I live in Elgin, I don't fish the dams to much, but I always have good fishing on the Fox river. I fish a lot of live bait, but lures as well. It's been a great year so far! 👍
What town do you like to fish in? I go to Yorkville, Oswego and St. Charles, all produce !
@@John_Montefalco I believe you, I should venture out more but have limited time. The Elgin area is great all the way down to the South Elgin dam and beyond. Carpentersville and Dundee is also a great area, all through Dundee there are a lot of rocks, that's where the smallmouth are going to be. All the mudflats and mud eddies hold channel cats into the evening there too. I caught 15 smallmouth bass in the 2lb range in Elgin wading in the river last Sunday. In the heat of summer all the guys are catching the larger smallmouth holding tight to the rocks off the bottom in the middle of the river. 👍
@@scottwilliams3481 I’m trying to watch these type of videos to see what I should throw, hiking to the fox this weekend
@@John_Montefalco right now all the guys catching smallmouth are using soft plastic crayfish or swimbaits bouncing off bottom in little hops. Also sqaurebill cranks retrieved with the current bumping rocks will produce all throughout Cville and Dundee. With all the cicadas out now I hit them right at sundown on top water heddon torpedoes. For the cats I use a lot of nightcrawlers off bottom because I can also catch a big carp or whatever is biting. I usually enhance my gob of crawlers with a spritz of crayfish attractant has noticeably upped my odds on the crawler bite. Hope this helps.
@@scottwilliams3481 awesome, thanks!!
Love your video bro keep up the content God bless you
Always see people fishing in the area and always wanted to learn Found your channel, keep it up man!
Much appreciated man!
I fish down by Batavia
whats up in there biting now? the bite is slow in lake michigan and i need to get out somewhere
Summer time the dam holds a lot of “trash” fish. Cats, carp, and drum. With the occasional big smallmouth and spotty white bass. The game fish don’t really start coming in until late September early October at the dam
Great catch! Any luck with channel cats on that part of the river?
They are all over, especially this turn of year. My favorite way of targeting them is just with a few 1/8 oz split shots up from a floating jighead and a crawler. Fishing upstream of structure.
I used to have really good luck with channel cats right by OTTO, not sure if that bridge is still intact but that little island was a great spot
Nice vid , I’m from Aurora definitely making my way up there real soon
Go early in the day or night fish, wayyyy to crowded during the day.
Got any good spots in aurora?
Nice vid dude glad to have more fox representatives
It is a very underrated fisherie
Thanks👍
@@_MidwestAngling_ oh yea g there are so many muskies, walleye, and smallies. Loaded to the brim.
Can you bank fish by the dam as well?
Great job! I live in texas, and white bass season is my most wonderful time of the year 😊
Such a great fight for such a small fish👍
Nice catch 🦋
where is this location ? is it the carpenter dam?
Good to see you back. Can’t wait to come back and get some smallies
Let me know when your out next!
Tell ya what brother you could show how you fish and were you fish for walleye what jigs you run and how deep you fish what temp you try to look for I don't see a lot of walleye videos we have a big walleye tournament here in missouri and Arkansas where I live in the Ozarks thanks for the video man great job sure do love eating them crappie walleye and bluegill are my favorite I been thinking about starting a RUclips all around panfish and whitebass and small creek fishing I don't even wanna touch bass I a video everyone knows everything about it don't wanna open that can of worms lol
Thanks for the comment! I agree I’d rather stay away from bass fishing and show people other content for walleye crappie perch pike etc. of course I will do some bass videos here and there. I’m in northern IL and fish the fox very often
Hard water by next weekend my dude
Great informative video. Keep it up
