The show in Wellington at the Michael Fowler Center was incredible. The performance hall was stunning, great sound, and the boys were at the top of their game. Last Frontier has a big sound and vast feel. The rain didn't bother anyone at all. Such a great night!
The Oils are simply great! They count with a true fan here in Central America. Greetings to all the fans around the globe!
Wish they released an official live album/DVD of this tour
I will continue to saviour all of the concert recordings from the final 2022 tour. The Oils were magnificent right to the very end. I actually saw their first & last concerts in Adelaide, South Australia stretching over 44 years - & umpteen other Oils concerts in between. The 2022 Rest LP & tour concert are right up with their best over their long musical journey. This US concert is very good - as I've watched/listened to it several times.
Which was their first?!? The Akabar? I’m so glad you’ve listened/watched this Boston show more than once. I really tried to do a nice recording.
My favourite band of all time. Of course, I have changed my preferences over time, but The Oils are always on my top 3. I love this guys and always hope another "last reunion" because one of my dreams is see the Oils in his own country.
I am glad to see the concert but my mates are no longer here to celebrate with me and this concert. I could not leave my state either. I am happy to see this. We should not forget the forgotten Years.
You did a great job filming this. The sound quality is impressive. My son and I were at this show and I am so glad he got the chance to see the Oils live.
It was incredible. how lucky were we?!?!???
I really like this song. It has a bit of a 60s feel in the Midnight Oil way.
agree
Amazing performance and Midnight Oil always puts on a great show! Thank you for sharing your video as it’s a great memory that I was able to share with my son!
That's awesome you were able to share it with your son. What did he think?!? It was such a great night.
He loved the show and he’s a drummer so appreciates all the effort that goes into performing!
As a drummer and watching Rob do his thing -- masterclass. @@PatrickDempsey-t7b
Thanks very much for recording and posting this unforgettable moment. I was there, I travel from South America just to see the Oils in Boston and NY. It was a really magic moment, again, thank you
One of the Top Three shows (of 35) that I saw in Boston in 2022. Roadrunner (named after Jonathon Richard song, by the way), is a new venue in Boston (Allston-Brighton, actually, on the outskirts of the city). I spoke with both the club's sound engineer and a fella I just happened to meet on the beer line who helped with engineering acoustics (something to do with putting in additional layers of sheet rock REALLY helps with...sound quality) and their assessment is that Roadrunner is "state-of-the-art," which was the intent of the owner. (I believe Roadrunner is a sister club to The Sinclair which is across the Charles River in Cambridge.) I've also read some social media posts from bands that played at Roadrunner (The Hold Steady, most recently: best show so far for me 2023) and, across the board, their collective assessment: GREAT SOUND (and staff, and venue!)! Midnight Oil--rocked! Took two days for my voice to recover (they do have quite a few songs that inspiring singing along, with the string of "Blue Sky Mine" into "Power and The Passion" into "Beds Are Burning" into "Forgotten Years" transporting everyone directly to musical Utopia). Peter was in top form: frenetic in movement, poignant in comments and equanimous as the front man. Not that it needs to be said: they're a great band. Been together for decades and but so they know how to get it done. Hard to believe that "the Oils" are hanging it up after this tour, if for no other reason than "RESIST" was one of my top CDs for the year! So, who knows, maybe they'll reconsider that decision after they assess the response--like this one at Roadrunner--to this "last tour." (Hell, I saw The Who at MSG in 1885 for what was supposed to be their last tour, and, well....). Rock on, Oils!!!!
Thank you! ... humanity doesn't listen .. thanks for the recording!
Wow great stuff...
Too bad they cannot sing about trying to save the Aussies from the CCP Covid tyranny. Locking down people, jailing them, beating them and violating their rights. Midnight Oil failed to do anything about the denial of liberty and freedom of their own people by a totalitarian government in Canberra. Now they are just washed up old Globalist lefties that could not write a protest song if it hit them in the balls, they have to wait till the UN, WHO, CHINA or their own authoritarian government tells them too. They are soft weasels and Marxist minstrels appeasing the barfbag old Communists and sick woke turds.
28:42 that lady screaming in joy when stand in line started was fantastic 😅
That lady was me! 😂 And yes, so freaking happy, could not believe it!!!!!
@@wearenotafraid2830 love it!
Amazing right to the Last Show. Thank you Oil's.. True Aussie 🇦🇺 Legends.
very noticeable that US Forces was NOT sung.
Good camerawork. I'm glad you didn't try to zoom in too much. This show was fantastic, as always!
Blue Sky Mine is Australia's Chernobyl. Look under Wittenoom and weep.
The oil, you can't stop, not now, we have need to you.
My favourite musical group since 30 years. Ils s'en vont, je suis triste, je me sens vieux. Mais ils m'apportent tellement de bonheur. Thanks you so much midnight.
I was a freshman in college in the 80's. ...I knew that they had a message!
That was great.i caught th last gig 3.10.22
Who's Daniel Boerman?
Only The Strong is their best song played live
I went nuts when they played that.
❤️🦋❤️
Life live on the planet ! A lot of thanks to Midnight Oil !
Thank YOU So MUCH, guys for great a concert in BC , and for a great run. We will ALL MISS you guys. Love ❤️ all your 🎵.
Red sail, my favourite. Thanks you very much midnight for all these fantastics songs.
Thanks for sharing. One of my favourites.
Peter G and I were born within 60 days of each other. I've seen the Oils thrice, including in Toronto two days before this Boston show. AND... I've watched hundreds of amateur Oils clips during the last couple of decades. This concert recording is exceptional and beyond any criticism In a world where nothing seems quite right anymore, this is a perfect as perfect can get. Thanx to WANA and of course...... to the Oils.
Thanks, it's great to read your comment! I thought hard and prepared for weeks before the show to maximize my chances to get a decent recording that could be offered to all. The Oils are in amazing form and the setlist in Boston was fantastic. We will miss them but how lucky are we to have had them perform for so many decades and still making new music.
I was at this show
I was there, and I met Bones Hillman's ex-girlfriend in line. Other than Pete's minor microphone issues, this was by far the best concert I ever attended.
Oh wow, that's wonderful. I did hear that she was in attendance. It was great show!
This is really good, thank you. I was at the NYC gig a few days later. Great show. Love the new album (it's crept into my Top 3 of theirs).
Its sad too see the lighting is not as good as the band ... It should be .. The Oils should have the light show running with Military presision after almost 43 years ... Timing is every thing .. Former Oils Crew .. Chris Simmons
I was there!!! It was so fun!!!
How you hussle to those crowds of people just to get that perfect spot. Your Awesome! 🤟
HAHA! Yes, all day in line on the streets of NYC. But we took turns to go and get lunch, etc. It was so worth it! 🖐🏼
Thanks so much for posting this! Although I didn't catch the Oils until 2017 (Great CIrcle Tour), I've was fortunate to see them again this round in Boston and a few years earlier at the Big Red Bash in the middle of the Simpson Desert. Australia is truly a land of amazing natural beauty and indigenous culture and Midnight Oil does both proud. Punchy lyrics that hold us accountable played to tunes that are to my hear full of hope. And their new album, Resist, is truly one of their best. Long may they play!
Oh I heard the Big Red Bash was very special and also the last show with Bones. Australia is amazing! Resist is SO SO good!!!
I appreciate this thanks, more so because didn't have the doe to travel out of flyover country. Don't forget they said the same thing after 2002 tour... that was it... at least as far as America. I saw them at Utah Valley State College that year, supposedly their last. Then I saw them at Paramount Theatre Denver, May 2017... great show... they said it was their last tour. The Who did the same thing in like 1990. How many shows have they played since 1990 ? Why do they always find the need to say that's it? Sell a few more tickets maybe?
I don't remember them saying that The Great Circle was their last tour. This time, though, they've been extremely clear. They've kept their ticket prices very reasonable. I don't think they're greedy. And I think that will really be it. Pete and the rest have been very clear and said it again and again during these shows. So glad you appreciate the recording!
I really hope they are filming one of these shows
We all do. But there have been no obvious cameras.
My son and I were there! Thanks for posting.
You're so welcome! How lucky were we?
Love this…was at the Roundhouse in the UK! Awesome show
Lucky you at the Roundhouse!!!!!!! You got the "three Countries" : Lucky Country, My Country and One Country. And the deepest of cuts Knife's Edge! So jelly lol.
Has a feel of the 1985 concert on goat Island.
They haven't lost a thing these last 35 years, right?!?!!!
@@wearenotafraid2830 What camera are you using is it Sony.
@@haydenwittig8877 It's an iPhone 13 Pro on the highest video quality setting 4K.60
This is fantastic. Thank you!
No worries! I'm glad I was able to do it.
Mate, this is effen AMAZING. Extremely clear image, great quality sound. When I read the notes saying you recorded this on an Iphone I was gobsmacked.
Yeah, it worked out pretty well. A few days before the show I broke the budget and upgraded to the iPhone 13 Pro. It made a huge difference.
Seeing them in London tomorrow. I can’t wait!
Fantastic! Have a great time! Just a few hours away!
Do yourselves a favour and listen to their first album and Head Injuries (2nd) and share what we used to listen to in the pubs in Australia in the early days.
I was one year out of high school in 1981, living in a country town in South Australia, when I got the Blue Meanie, Head Injuries and Bird Noises. I was totally obsessed. Their sound was like nothing else and there was so much richness and passion. I saw them in Adelaide twice in the early 80s. Those of you who were there at the beginning listening to them in small sweaty pubs, so lucky!!! As a band and musicians they evolved from their post-punk roots but never lost their integrity to stay true to what was important to them.
It's a bummer the boys never play anything from Blue Meanie anymore. Even people are holding up signs with "Powderworks" begging them. From Head Injuries they sometimes play Stand In Line and Back On the Borderline. From Bird Noises they occasionally play No Time for Games. In Germany they played Knife's Edge during a sound check -- that was a treat. They played Wedding Cake Island in Sydney in April.
A million thanks for videoing and posting the whole concert. Was desperate to see them play. Much appreciated, many many thanks.
I was so happy that everything worked out just right on the night so I could get this recording for everyone. Because my phone was on a fixed stand, I could still dance my heart out!
@@wearenotafraid2830 - was wondering how you did it. Brilliant!. Thanks. Watching from The Blue Mountains, NSW.
@@M0untainBerry I love the Blue Mountains -- I stayed in Wentworth Falls for a few nights in 1993. Special memories.
wetting my whistle for London on Saturday !!
The boys are on fire and going out on top. Have great show!
I was at this show
We were lucky to be there.
Excellent sound! Thanks for sharing.
Seeing them in Berlin for the last time. My favourite band as a kid in the most historic city in the world. My two favourite things music & history in one
I am in Berlin to see them tomorrow night, too! My first time in this city -- so iconic. I spent a long time walking along the East Side Gallery today -- I was very moved. I was with a Powderworker who grew up in East Germany and she recounted many things to me about her early life under the Socialist rule and then what it was like when it was suddenly gone. I really appreciated being with her -- see this huge wall, experiencing the power of the art, and wishing humans could just respect and get along with one another better.
@@wearenotafraid2830 we should catch up & watch them together.
Awesome love this band. Great to see a different view in the US, Just bought their latest vinal.
