Copy of Monday Night Football opening with Frank Gifford 1989
Просмотров 1988 лет назад
We’ll miss you Frank Gifford. The things that strike me about this clip are the classic footage of Elway and Kelly, the song by E.L.O., the great voice of Gifford, the fact that Al Michaels hasn’t aged in 40 years and that Dan Dierdorf gets it very wrong by predicting a Buffalo whitewash over Denver when in fact Denver wins by 14 and eventually goes to the Super Bowl.

Colorado vs Nebraska 1986

The game wasn't televised, but CU and KOA put together a highlight reel. 10/25/86, I was there. For any sports trivia folks, later that night was the Red Sox's Buckner error in game 6 of the World Series. Enjoy it fellow Buff fans!
CBS College Football Intro 1989

The classic CBS intro-good quality. Colorado 27-Nebraska 21. 11/4/89.
Alfred Williams

Alfred Williams demonstrates dominance from the linebacker position during Colorado's 11-0 season in 1989.
Back when these two were both in the same conference, and when they were both good. The CBS intros are almost impossible to beat. The best competitor may be the NFL NBC intro of the late 90s
I may not be a Husker fan, & I was barely alive (1 year old) when this broadcast came out, but both teams & even the broadcast was tougher & more enjoyable than the soft crap we have now. Big 8. Damn...I am getting old.
I'm an old man, have two bad knees, two bad shoulders, a bad back, but that intro makes me jump out of my seat and Im ready to play
GooooBiggggggRedddddd! 2024
Good ok days
Probably the best MNF cast. Al Michales and Gifford are HOF and Dierdorf addeed some recent player experience. Some say Cosell was better but his play by play guy was meh
CBS College Football Theme and 80s intros will NEVER, EVER be touched. Greatest of all time
Kids today would never believe that Nebraska-Colorado was once a top-5 intra-conference matchup.
Jim Nantz and Pat Summerall are the Dan Marino and Peyton Manning of sportscasters. When it comes to pure talent, no one else is on their level.
the music on the background is being used here on Brazil for soccer transmissions for Paramount Plus
I remember you Sammy Smith!
💚 "Packers, 🧀 sucks!" 🤮 🟣 "Skol Vikings!" 🏈 "Yeah!" "Woo!" "Yay!" "Yes!"

🟣 "Skol Vikings!" 🏈 "Yeah!" "Woo!" "Yay!" "Yes!"
"Hey, fellas!" "Are you ready for some football!?" 🏈 "yes, it's Monday night!" 🌃 "let's go!"
"Yeah!"
That CU QB deserves a head coaching job!
Frank Gifford my favorite announcer.
Bug eaters 😂
CU was so bad I embraced the OKLAHOMA SOONERS MOSTLY BECAUSE OF BILLY SIMS WHEN MCCARTNEY WAS HIRED I SLOWLY STARTED TO EMBRACE THE BUFFS...THIS GAME WAS THE CATALYST!! I NEVER LIKED NEBRASKA!! BOTH PROGRAMS ARE FEELING GOOD ABOUT THEIR NEW HIRES, GONNA BE INTERESTING TO SEE IF "COACH PRIME" & MATT RHULE ARE GOING TO RESTORE THEIR RESPECTIVE PROGRAMS.
Prime will.
The Glory years !!! I was at the game CU 73 I will never forget it !
Holy fuck! That was epic.
That scenery is beautiful
I was a senior in high school in 1986. I listened to this game on the radio with a friend of mine. It was somewhat chilly Colorado day with a tiny bit of snow falling on the east side of Boulder where we were. We were out there splitting a couple of cords of wood and listening to the game. I can still smell it today. I later ended up getting a football scholarship to the University of Colorado. I grew up with Coach McCartney's kids. Rode the school bus every morning with his daughter Christy and played football at Boulder High with his son. What great times. Too bad Colorado football has completely Fallen apart. And for that matter the same with Nebraska.
SEC fans think this song belongs to them 😂
Not for much longer.
Sec fans think they invented college football they’re the most entitled group of fan bases on the internet
Jealous
We're jealous of the song that's going to be played during our games?
Because it does
That intro gives you chills and makes you want to play football!!
i miss these guys
Gifford, Cosell and Meredith were the most impactful trio on MNF. Sports was entertainment, and Roone Arledge understood that best.
What a great announcer. Frank Gifford was before my time (well...pretty much), but I can see why he generated a lot of popularity for MNF. I bet event people that weren't into football would watch at times just because he was intriguing to listen to. An announcer(s) can really make or break whether a game is fun to watch or not.
The guy in the number 12 uniform eventually became an NFL referee and his name is Clete Blakeman.
And screwed CU at a game in Iowa State.
@@timothywest1183 How did you know?
@@superbowlguy9659 It’s been a point of contention for many years. I can’t remember the details, but he made some bad adjustment to the clock at the end of the game that stole the game from us. I would have to ask on Allbuffs; they would know. 😂
@@timothywest1183The 2007 field goal to close the game. I was at that game in Ames, CU blew a 21-0 lead at halftime.
Jan 2022 and this has me pumped up! Need a full symphony orchestra to do this theme.
Frank Gifford Al Michael abc sports
I like when CBS back then shows the Crimson Tides, Cornhuskers, Hurricanes, Buffaloes, Gators, Clemson, Bulldogs, who else?
It was mostly schools who were independent at that point and the CFA conferences (Big 8, SWC, ACC, SEC)
@@genogreen8399 yes indeed.
I like it when Nebraska, Miami and USC are good.
Unfortunately only USC is holding up their end (in a half-assed sort of way.)
The best play by play trio in sports. They will never be matched. I was on active duty from 1988-1994 and never missed a Monday night game. My best friend was from Wisconsin and a rabid Packers fan and I was a rabid Vikings fan. Man, did we enjoy football season, especially MNF. I miss those days. All I have are great memories. Frank, Al, and Dan thank you guys a thousand times over.
Well Jim Kelly U wanted to get to a Super bowl, U got Ur wish 4 tymes over'/!!! I hope it was worth it'/!!!
I'm desperately trying to find something on youtube or elsewhere, where Frank Gifford is simply calling the action and the plays in his quick, sharp style. He was the best. It was an art he had mastered to describe the action so concisely and so vividly. He was the greatest. How I miss hearing him during the game!
Why did Nebraska play, back 2 back in Boulder 86-87
Some kind of schedule thing with the conference. Ou played in Lincoln in 86 and 87.
They adjusted the schedule so that Colorado would play Oklahoma at home and Nebraska on the road (or vice versa) in the same year. Prior to that, the Buffs always played OU and NU at home the same year or on the road the same year.
I hope you all can answer this question......if it’s 1989 where’s Hank Jr..??????????
Videosforyou: Why in the world would you not show the biggest play of the game in real time? For some reason you showed the halfback pass td in slow motion replay when we see it in slow motion replay right after that anyway. You miss out on a lot when you don't get to see that play in real time and feel the impact. That made no sense to me at all. Every play except the biggest one shown in real time.
Because I didn't create/produce the video.
This is even more 80's than the 80's.
jeff campell is fast, damn!
CBS still uses this theme music for college football.
It was first used for Super Bowl XXI in January 1987
Awesome graphics for that year in 1989
Turning point for the program for the next 10 years.
He was such a distruptive force on that def. Line!! He and #96 Kanavis McGhee were such a dangerous tandem on the other end. This was a fun team to watch.
I remember watching the intro to this game looking fwd to the qb matchup, mnf in buf great scene esp from the booth
The best intro on CBS
The goalpost made it up to the Hill. Later someone cut it up into small pieces and sold them.
God I love Dan Dierdorf
