A magnificent piece of music for sure! I was part of a performance of this beautiful piece in college in 1978 and I still remember every note.. Thank you for sharing!

Oughtn't "rock'n'roll" be re-defined - perhaps to drop the efforts (or dross) of the Beatles &c and to incorporate works as great as this composition and performance? In that scheme of things, Bo Diddley would be as magnificent as D Buxtehude, or vice-versa. And there's nothing wrong with that, is there?

DIETRICH BUXTEHUDE { BAD OLDESLOE , HOLSTEIN 1637~1707 LUBECK } ~ MAGNIFICAT ~. Que c'est beau magnifique ensemble vocales choeurs et ensemble musicale grandiose bravo. BUXTEHUDE passe les trente première année de sa vie au Danemark ou il est formé probablement par son père organiste. Sa glorieuse carrière démarre en Allemagne à LUBECK ou il s' installe le 11 avril 1668, ou il occupera trois postes d'organiste a HELSINGBORG, a SAINTE-MARIE d' ELSENEUR et à SAINTE-MARIE de LUBECK ou il finit ses jours. Il institue les veillées musicale de l'Avent ABENDMUSICHEN. Il fut en son temp le compositeur le plus célèbre en Allemagne et un musicien au rayonnement européen. I once was in a piece called Buxtehude's Requiem. Did Buxtehude write such a piece? If so, I'm interested in obtaining more information and possibly a score. Thanks.

If one put this as background music while browsing, the ambience turns very sad.

A new approach for this piece. While the music sounds to be played on period instrument, the tempi are all the same and don't change according to the meaning of the words as it's supposed to be in baroque. It's almost a half-way romantic version and to slow in my opinion BUT still pleasant to hear.
