Hi, this is the capstone project presentation by our bootcamp student. It's a one-time project that the student chose to work on as part of the portfolio.

Can a person go from a non it background to this. I really want to move into this area.

Hello, We responded to you in another thread. you can go to our website and book an appointment to talk to our learning advisor who will be happy to give you suggestions. In general, our suggestion would be the following: 1. Understand if this is a sector that fits your goal. You can reach a decision by watching career guides, reading blog posts, and talk to experienced professionals who work in this field. Do you research before you take a big step. I encourage you to create an account on our learning portal at learn.weclouddata.com and read our career guide. 2. Take a short course on python or SQL and see if you even enjoy coding. This also gives you a chance to think about the type of data jobs you'd like to work in: data analyst, data scientist, data engineer, etc. 3. You do need to brush up on your IT related knowledge. It could be basic operating system, linux command, working with file systems, etc. Keep in mind that you don't need to be an expert in this and there's no need to get a CS degree for this. Try to lean on the practical side and some basic knowledge will be useful and you will learn and practice later when you come across tools like AWS/GCP, Docker, data pipelines, databases, etc. WeCloudData is launching our self-paced Open courses. I encourage you to take them. It will be available on RUclips soon. 4. Follow a structured curriculum once you decide which path you'd like to go down. Again, I highly recommend you read our career guide on our website or learning portal. There are really great resources on RUclips and we encourage you to take courses from datacamp and coursera/udemy as well. This is the part you cannot skip. 5. Follow the learning path and stick to it. Practice a lot and build portfolio projects. For career switchers, having project experience is very critical.
