I discovered your channel today and I'm really becoming a fan. Great summaries! The additional points you make that were left out of the film are also very informative. I understand your opinion on this movie. However, I feel I need to say something to perhaps defend the creators of this film a bit: generally, it’s important to keep in mind that the primary purpose of a cinematic film is to entertain. This means that the claim to truthfulness in storytelling always takes a backseat in a film. I personally find the film to be successful, and I believe it serves as a good appetizer for many people to take a closer look at the person James Brown, the music, or even the entire complex of American history, racism, psychological and physical abuse, trauma, and developmental disorders, etc.

Before I played GTA V, I had never heard of Jane Child, never! In my country, people don’t know Jane Child and generally don't know much about good music and artists... anyway. Ever since I first heard "Don't Wanna Fall in Love," I have been a huge fan of Jane. To me, she is a totally underrated and absolutely amazing musician. Thank you for your great summary! It was very enjoyable and insightful. :)

I remember this story so well. I was a young man, in my mid 20s, living in New York. Those were adventurous times for me. And I remember being so disappointed that the whole thing was fabricated. Perhaps her parents, for the chronic abuse. But not Tawana. I hope wherever Tawana's at, she's doing good and finding some kind of way to more or less put this experience behind her. And she's making "$627 a month, working at a nursing home?" Damn! I make more than she's making and I'm a musician! I make anywhere from "$1,000 to $1,500" a month. And I'm struggling with that! And trust me! I don't exactly go around "painting the town red", whenever I get paid! But I'm okay with that, for now. And I look forward to doing better. I just hope that she's managing with what she makes. Notwithstanding the court debt that she owes.
