    Do pivot points move to the right side in real live time

    • @ThePivotTrader
      @ThePivotTrader 21 день назад

      They are calculated automatically on the new period. For example the daily pivot is calculated once per day at the end of the previous day period. The weekly period is calculated every Sunday/Monday etc. The levels are relevant for the period in question, hence the daily pivot is the same all day.

    dont you longer take into consideration the COT and seasonals?

    • @ThePivotTrader
      @ThePivotTrader 27 дней назад

      Yes I am still giving good consideration to the COT reports. In fact as I had mentioned yesterday and last week the pound had seen an extreme point of selling from the Asset Manager/Institutional money which could result in a change. This week we saw the initial change with quite a swing of unwinding shorts and buying longs. We just need to see the technical's give us the signals now. It was not helped by a BoE speaker this morning though!

    What's the advantage of Darwinex over a prop firm that has a 80/20 profit split? 80% being for the trader.

    • @ThePivotTrader
      @ThePivotTrader 3 месяца назад

      Hi Matt, there are some massive advantages in choosing Darwinex over any of the highly popular prop firms. It is important to understand the differences in their business models. A *prop firm* works on the basis you will fail. If you do not fail they tighten the rules of how you trade so that you will fail. Their initial rules are relatively strict and do not normally fit with the realities of how good traders trade and how even the best have draw downs. You never trade with real money and your trades may be copied if you are good with no benefit to you. You will note on the bigger props that are popular out there they now have to declare that you will only ever trade with fictitious funds. So yes they will pay you 80% of the profit, as most never make any and they have no investment clients to reward. I would be very surprised to know whether anyone actually gets to the point where they earn anything truely significant. Would you be happy with the trader taking 80% of profits and no risk? This is of course only in theory as no one actually invests, its all fictitious. They are not regulated so the only rules they have to comply with is trading standards. *On the other hand Darwinex* are really looking for the steady traders that really can make money with no limitations to how you trade. They do not want people that are one hit, one trade wonders, it is all about consistency. Even the best traders have draw downs, they accept these. You effectively trade your apprenticeship. During this time you are monitored, you do get allocated virtual funds and will be paid if you are successful. You then move to the point where you are truly investable. Real money is invested into your 'Darwin' (fund). There are no limits to how much will be invested into your Darwin, investors can select it and invest in a regulated environment. They pay the 15% rate on profits you have zero risk. They charge clients 2% admin and 20% of the profits, the client does not have zero risk. They deal with all the regulation and administration. You will find 2 and 20 is the normal ration charged by most real funds. Darwinex are asset managers. The top trader currently trading his Darwin account has €35 million of real money invested and his earnings are now around a million euros a year. In summary the prop firms that pay 80% profits are based on fictitious funds (their words). and a business model where they want the trader to fail. The Darwin account is based on real money after proving your ability and consistency. They want real traders to succeed as that is how they make their cut. As they say it is a virtuous cycle. I hope that clarifies things.

    • @mattstanbridge
      @mattstanbridge 3 месяца назад

      The thing is, Topstep is one of the more genuine prop firms. I don't quite fully undertsand their business model but there are a lot of traders in my trading group that are funded traders of Topstep. They don't have a drawdown rule. Their aim is for traders to grow and improve. The only difference I can see between Topstep and Darwinex is Topstep have a few more rules which don't appear to be that difficult to avoid breaking and a much more generous payout. It's risk free on Topstep the same as Darwinex but you get 80% compared to 15%. The monthly fee is more but the profit is greater. I'll admit that I'm not fully grasping the pros and cons of either, and I'm intuitively drawn to choose Darwinex over Topstep but I can't see a any strong evidence for making that choice. Maybe you could skim through the Topstep website and give an objective (if possible) opinion.

    • @ThePivotTrader
      @ThePivotTrader Месяц назад

      Hi Matt, sorry I had overlooked your further question. With regard to the pay-out structure they (Topstep) refer to accounts as being funded. The reality is that there is no external investors. The business model works on traders losing or falling foul of the rules. No real investor would agree to paying 80% of the profit made whilst taking a 100% hit on any losses. The amount their successful traders will earn is subject to a maximum. With Darwinex if you are good you will be likely to attract large amounts of real invested money. Ask Topstep what is the maximum amount they have paid to any of their great traders. They are not regulated as a fund so you know it is not real. Why with Topstep, do you have to pay more money to have a chance of trading more money? This just gives Topstep more income. Kind regards, Kym

      @ThePivotTrader Thanks, Kym. I'm going to get profitable first, and then give Darwinex Zero a try. I have a good strategy, I just need to remember all the variables that go into placing and catching a good trade. My psychology is almost mastered, I've made every mistake in the book over the last 8 months of going live, just a tiny corner of my brain gets bored waiting for a setup and preempts a move that has an unlikely winning outcome.

      Hi Robert, the video is clearly marked as a video containing a paid for promotion. The payment is negligible. What is more important is what it actually offers. How many traders truly make money or have any chance of making money off their small accounts. It gives those traders with ambition and little funds an opportunity. The company is fully regulated and offers both traders and investors a very fair deal.

I've been following all the major fx and being burnt a few times on stop calls. But from what I see perhaps the euro usd is more tradeable? It seems more liquid and less prone to sudden fakes. Don't you think so? Perhaps you can make an in depth review movie of the euro usd pair only? It might attract more viewers to your channel, I think. In any way keep the good work. • @ThePivotTrader
      @ThePivotTrader 6 месяцев назад

      Hi, I am sure that eventually if not now very complex strategies could be programmed. I do not think that it is necessarily possible to do it with the current applications, but it really comes down to the questions you are asking it. As with any strategy you need to be able to clearly explain the rules, which is not always easy as we add a discretionary element into what we do. There is always the chance that at sometime in the future we will just ask the AI to come up with the strategy itself. Best wishes Kym

      btw I'd like to to just tell AI to study horizontal and diagonal support and resistance, testing and risk reward and come up with ideal trades but apparently (I talked to some programmers) this would involve substantial coding and money. Maybe some day AI can even generate and answer youtube comments so that we can just hang out on the beach :)

  • @mattstanbridge
    @mattstanbridge 7 месяцев назад

    You probably don't get many questions or as much interest as you'd like because people want to see proof that something is worth investing their time and effort into. I regularly watch you. I have done since seeing your Trading Nut podcast months ago. But I'm not going to pursue another strategy without knowledge that the mentor is very profitable or the strategy has an edge over simple support and resistance with no indicators. The pivot strategy looked promising, but I couldn't be bothered to test it out, I wasn't convinced that lines on a screen could consistently predict price, and allow me to scale up positions with confidence. Pivots seem a bit like fibonacci. Yeah, sometimes price reverses at the pivot or hits a target, but more often, it doesn't.

    • @ThePivotTrader
      @ThePivotTrader 7 месяцев назад

      With respect I think you are missing the point of the video. It is not about a specific pivot strategy, it refers to strategies in general. *The key point is that people do not want to do the work* , they want someone else to show them (They are particularly more impressed if you are shown a flash car or similar, as that means it must work because the person is successful). Modesty and reality never counts for much in this sector. The other key point is that traders will follow strategies blindly, the key is to test them and get the confidence. I know with my strategies what the maximum drawdown has been, so can understand that it will run through such periods. Where many traders go wrong is that they pick and choose the setups on the strategy they are using. This means they are not actually following the strategy as they do not believe it will work the time. If you want the best chance to get the expected result, you need to trade them all. Finally you quote _Yeah, sometimes price reverses at the pivot or hits a target, but more often, it doesn't._ Does that mean you have actually tested what you are talking about or you are just guessing? Regards Kym

      Hi Roy, many thanks for your comments, its about time you come and joined us in the mornings 😂. Some pairs go through phases of being good when scalping. One thing I would suggest you consider is the spread (some crosses are quite wide for scalping) and the historical price action. I find that the euraud can end up ranging for quite long periods particularly if you look at an hourly chart. Also look at the Average True Range, here we can get an idea of how volatile a market it is and the size of stops that might be needed. There are certainly better times to trade some pairs, I have specific time windows that I will trade in. Kind regards Kym

      The pivots are calculated on the basis on the high low and close of the previous period, thus as soon as the new period starts the levels are available.

      I used 5min to trade and 10m or 15m to filter out longer trend. I enjoy the filtering heiken bars provide, avoid getting stopped out or taking the wrong side, thank you so much. I am struggling with consistency and confidence for 2 years. This strategy is a game changer for my style of trading @@ThePivotTrader

      It is important that retail traders know when to stay out of the markets, not just chase the sudden moves. That is why so many retail traders lose money trading.

      Hi, none of us expected that news to be released again and certainly not expecting to see a second reaction to what had already been said. It is great if you are lucky enough to catch the upside and make the money. It's good to hear. I would recommend that you do look at one of the calendars though for the routine data. Best wishes and stay lucky!
