Alan Wilder fixed the song and his version is by far the best.This version is a demo ,an unfulfilled song ..I adore DM with or without the maestro AW but his absence is obvious

This is a good song with some good sounds, but to be honest, when I've heard Alan's remix I felt something unexplainable, in a good way, like I wanted to listent to it over and over and forever... ❤️

This version is ok, however Alan's remix definitely has more of a mood to it which draws you to it. I can see why he wanted to remix this track (assuming he had the choice).

I think this is the real evolution of DM, they pushed it as much it was possible these days when is so hard to be original, Alan's remix is a good version for SOFAD but this one is more unique... (and this is coming from a person that really wants Alan as producer for a future DM album)
Exactly, I love the way they keep evolving albums like this, Spirit, Playing The Angel, Exciter, and even the blusy Delta Machine are just great albums in their evolution.

Rubbish compared to Alan’s production!!! His musicianship and understanding of soundscapes and chord structures was clearly the backbone of turning average songs into masterpieces. Mr wilder, you are greatly missed :(
I prefer the Alan Wilder remix version as that’s the Depeche Mode sound I know
I just listened to it yesterday, It brings out amazing countermelodies, but i think it's too long and over instrumentalized. The good part in the song is about 2 minutes long. Nothing more.

The loss of Alan Wilder did nothing to hurt the band....says no one who hears this versus the Alan Wilder version.. its a shame.

The chorus, especially... "You've got me praying to you, saying to you Everything you want me to" Captured the feeling so perfectly. The melody to this is so accurate. I feel extremely lucky to know a band like this... so many of their songs... genius...

wow! You can really hear the difference from Alan Wilder's remix of In Chains vs the album version. AW's remix is far superior than the album version. The album version sound is clangy (noisey). AW's remix of In Chains sounds smooth and cool.

When this album came out the intro to this came and my dad thought that there was something wrong with the radio so he was kicking it and broke all the knobs off the radio player in the car and everything got ruined but it was just the song and it was just the intro

Only a retard would dislike this. This is quality music in every way possible. The fucking incredible and catchy instrumental, the unique voice of Dave, the lyrics, the length above standard 4 minutes. Just awesome!!!

huh? there’s only like 2-3 layers at a time. Alan Wilder’s remix had 4 layers absolutely bonkers that man is good!
Honestly, this sounds rather like a demo version than a final song. Granted, it's raw and plain, but it's flat at the same time. No match to what Alan Wilder added to the song with his remix. DM is lacking a sound designer. No matter how many cool vintage synths they use, if you don't use them properly, the result can be boring. Unfortunately this is the case with this original version. This way it's a rather boring song with an even more boring arrangement.
This wonderful piece makes vibrate and carrie your mind and body at same time👏👏👏
