Joe was weak to sudden counters; that's the reason Oscar's shots dropped him faster and hurt him more when he was dropped compared to when George dropped him. In the George matches, Joe was able to tank multiple shots before falling and got up faster. Based on no match, Joe had with anybody who fought like Mike. No one beat Mike coming forward nonstop, and who was that easy to read like Joe? Joe fights in the same pattern: up-and-down head movement, throwing 1 or 2 punches, and repeating. Joe's punch angles are wide hooks, straight jabs, a duck, and back to repeating the coming forward up-and-down head movement. Commentary even said in the Marvis match that's not the way to fight Mike. How would Joe do better? by using simple up and down head movement, he would be koed in the 1st. It’s very easy to see this. These are facts on video: Nobody fought like a Tyson in the 70s; boxers need to be able to train with somebody in sparring with somebody who can do some stuff their opponent can do; nobody could do what Mike did. Marvis was for a fact more advanced and smarter than Joe; Marvis didn't just come in nonstop; he also didn't use simple up-and-down head movement; he didn't throw hooks 90% of the time. People who gave Mike trouble were all from outside jabbers, jabbers who also weren’t easy to read and who weren't repeating patterns like guys in the 70s.

You see Frazier's situation when he faces a less formidable opponent. Bonavena is not a tough boxer like Ron Lyle and Enrie Shavers. However, Fraizier was defeated. Among these great tough boxers, he faced only Foreman. Foreman destroyed Fraizer. That's why Ali and Feraizer cannot be compared because Ali beat all of these boxers.

In my opinion Bonavena was the true winner, but his victory was not so clear. In the USA Frazier was a very important boxer while Bonavena was unknown.
