It's now 6 years since you posted this video. What are your experiences with your steps? How often are you now going aloft after installing them? Which alloy aluminium did you use? Did you use aluminium rivets or monel?

Bloody uncomfortable but am I complaining? Well yes, according to SWMBO it seems I am……constantly! Boat’s going back in 27th so that will lift spirits. How did I miss this extravaganza of sausage roll wonderfullness? It’s great to see the cockpit tent come into its own too. I think you could hold a party in there. Somthing about it reminds me of a circus tent. Perhaps it’s the clowns? Anyway thanks a bunch guys made my evening to find one I had missed.

Dave is an expert on shriveled nuts! He should bring his own snacks and food Dave! as for arriving early, the ealy bird gets the worm , nice to see you both out and about. solent looks as lovely as ever.

I really wish I could but in between you two. Oh well will just have to sit back and listen. Here is what I have been up to this winter in Japan I sail in winter but I am not crazy. Hi Chaps, Thanks for the fly-by of my new berth, I have a spot booked for this year just before the Bridge. I am looking forward to it. But can i ask a favour if you don't mind? If you would give me a call a couple of days before you attempt that trip again so i can get a whole load of extra fenders in place before you come past. Thanks Chaps!

Great to see you back with your cheerful dialogue as usual - bit rich to blame us for your grumpiness though. Serious recommendation for a NOCO battery jump starter just in case Small in size, holds enough power to start around six engines when battery is flat. Connect it to battery terminals, wait five minutes and twist the key! Now in our eighties, for the first time our boat on the hard December to March, so great to sit in front of a blazing fire and see you suffer for our entertainment. Many more please!

Great video. I've seen other DYI mast steps but yours look the best. What type of aluminum did you use, if you know? I'll like to make my own, but I think I'll heat treat them to relieve the cold bending stress. Thanks!

Fantastic videography again chaps, the best display of chins I have seen for ages. And as for “getting the flappy things up” was that a brief glimpse of a cruising chute? You could have knocked me down with a feather. What I want to see is how well the cruising chute compares down wind with the windage of Cool Runnings circus big top of a cockpit tent. Getting off anchor without a Helm, absolutely classic Lee shores lazy jacks and lunches.. But the biggest surprise was you got out of the Solent well done. As for me well I took my Moody on the Westerly Summer Rally all the way to St Marlo. But that’s another story.

I also wanted to say a true sailor has a tool for everything- so a knife for peeler, a fork for masher and a welly boot for a jug - only joking - go to the pound store Dave !!

Great video chaps, but you looked remarkably fresh on arrival at the Scillies. Are you sure Halcyon Yachts didn’t deliver it for you?? Thought I might join you on this cruise, but the fuel would cost around £2500 for the round trip, so sticking to the Solent. Most envious of your trip though, and thoroughly entertaining as usual👍👍

Lovely video guys, some proper sailing and adventure. I think it’s pretty amiss that the crew didn’t pipe you aboard Dave R, needs a reprimand. I’m very envious as I still haven’t got to the Isles of Scilly, bit upsetting to be berated by Dave O, 😢 No I haven’t been anywhere much for the past couple of years. Life changing events and so on but I hope I get out there soon. In the meantime, hats off to you boys. Andy UK
