Nothing more but a pack of lies and excuses from a money grabbing pillock! As far as I can see, Wales Comic Con and Telford Takeover are dead as a doornail. And just because the owner has jumped ship, and started another convention down south with FanX Live, doesn't mean he'll get away with it forever! Because history will end up repeating itself, and anyone like him who's too greedy for their own good never have happy endings! On a positive note, the United Federation of Geeks will be replacing Wales Comic Con, they have no ties to the owner in question. So at least they'll still be a convention in Wrexham for the public to go to. Their first outing will be held at the Yale Campus on October 12th, running from 9am-6pm.

I noticed that at Mega Con 2023 Craig Charles didn't have any Robot Wars-related photos at his table but at Comic Con Liverpool he did. I wonder if many people asked. If that is the case it's nice to see that it is still popular because I love Robot Wars.

I'm glad I went to Comic Con Liverpool on Sunday, which in my experience Sundays tend to be far less hectic compere to Saturdays. However, while the convention itself had some enjoyable moments, and I got the autographs I wanted. It ultimately was a complete rip off with it's prices, and very disorganised at times. Monopoly Events sure loves being greedy, I don't know if I'll go back again after that. In the last 11 years of attending comic cons, this one has to be by far the most expensive I've ever been to. I've gone to Comic Con Liverpool before in the past, which was about 4 years ago. At least back then things weren't so bad, and their prices were a lot more reasonable. But I guess over time they led their greediness get the better of themselves, money doesn't buy happiness at the end of the day. They even went as far as increasing some of the autograph prices at the last minute, during the weekend when the con was on. Because of this, I didn't get any merchandise. And don't get me started on their nonsensical food & drink policy, forcing everyone to buy only from the venue. It also didn't help that most of the food & drink stalls I came across only accepted credit cards. I always bring cash with me, and this became a problem. I didn't have anything proper to eat or drink until near the end of the con, when I went to a near by McDonalds. I honestly don't know how some folks can afford over the top prices, when there's a cost of living going on. Not to mention the general public have far less disposable income nowadays, compere to when I started on the circuit 11 years ago. At least my next convention isn't run by money grabbing pillocks like Monopoly Events. By the way, the guests I met were Jim Cummings, Chris Barrie, Tim Rose and Brian Muir.

As someone who has been attending WCC since 2017 and made some great memories I could not agree more with anything you have said. I am one of the potential thousands of people that is owed money due to guest "cancellations". After weeks of zero responses to my messages and emails I did a chargeback with my bank and the cheeky fucker has had the balls to dispute it. All whilst setting up the next 'Homecoming' event. Thankfully my bank has told him to bugger off but the issue is still ongoing. A lot of people have also been in touch with BBC Watchdog

I think this is why I reacted the way I did it just seems so off to claim all that utter horse shit in that statement and give no timeframe for refunds that they themselves just confirmed they owe . After months of fighting all charge backs fron customers

It's a fun watch but I think it's more a reflection on the level of anger in the groups, not necessarily because you made a youtube video. I agree a lot of this statement reads as corporate bullshit. Not sure if any of us can hold our breaths long enough to see if the promises are upheld.

Makes me mad, I'm still owed money, he even tells the bank when they do chargebacks he's paid it if he already refunded a similar amount, I have to take this to ofcom now as I deleted the previous guests tickets and refund email not thinking I'd need them. Or he tells them it was a correct payment, with no announcements we can't prove it and the bank takes the money back. I'm at the point where I'm going to have to accept I've lost anything between £150-£185. I just don't want to see anyone after us lose any more. Thank you for bringing it to light for us.

To give you an idea, there are ways of getting an idea of what con organisers make. Showmasters, which is ultimately owned by one person made around £600,000 last year. That's £46,154 profit per event (13 events per year according to Showmasters). Per head, that's pretty crappy profit margin. I'd be willing to bet that the money ends up in the pockets of the guests more than anywhere else. The profit/income info is coming from Companies House, which can be seen below. So barring dodgy accounting, make of the profit figures what you will.

Also pop culture is so fragmented these days it’s really hard to say who a A List Star is anymore. Tv shows are as big as films now thanks to Netflix and people get hired because of their social media following as silly as that sounds . I would say Millie has probably become A List now because of how big Stranger Things has become. I haven’t even watched an episode but heard of it and her and see her on fashion and entertainment magazine covers quite a bit last few years so I’d say she’s probably what qualifies as A list which has become a bit more wider than what we remember 😄

In short, yes. Comic and pop culture conventions are booming and more actors who wouldn’t normally attend are now attending. The combination of the appearance fee for a big name plus whatever the promoter has to do to break even plus profit usually are high fees. This year I went to three conventions in the US and they are expensive as well as other promoters that get big names (heroes and villains, ace comic con etc) Millie being a relatively big name will draw this kind of fees. It all feels weird but just the nature of the business now

Telford is not in Wales, its in Shropshire which is a county right on the English border, so Wales Comic Con is no longer in Wales....... Slightly confusing....

I actually went to the concert and was a few lines behind the controls on standard standing & the sound was great. I really enjoyed it. A few of my friends went and seen loads of cosplayers. Hope to see you in next gig with my mate Nick. ;)
