Lang Lang Masterclass (2008) - Rishi Mirchandani, piano
Piano masterclass taught by Lang Lang. The student was Rishi Mirchandani, 12, who was playing Chopin's Waltz, Op. 64, No. 2 in C-sharp Minor. Recorded on November 18, 2008 at McConomy Auditorium, Carnegie Mellon University.
I used to play this piece... it's very easy and sweet... the boy is far too harsh with the sound... I'm surprised that he was invited to a masterclass.
at the beginnign the kid was playing way too strong and didnt respect any of chopin markings
Exactly... and this melody is soft and sweet... why was he invited to a masterclass if he doesn't have a basic level of musicality...?
Every celebrity wants to show themselves as high as possible!!! Great! But we teach students this every day of our live Where is the Spark, where is the Start. Could you teach average students all that things what you are talking about?? That one is not everage
Where is the volume of the sound???????? Can’t hear the words
Absolutely bat sound
It doesn't matter if Lang Lang is a good pianist or not, or if he is paid a lot for these master classes, teaching his art to young people with passion and gentleness, is the noblest thing in the existence of a man, and he does it with great sympathy and love. No doubt he is a beautiful and great person.
I really loved this.
Beautiful
I’ve tried really tried to appreciate Lang Lang, but I find his playing dull and in uninspired. I promise I really have tried!
Strange…. I’ve had just the opposite reaction!! In. fact listen to him encourage this boy to add emotional turns. by tempo & crescendo!!!!
Bravo !👏
Talent boy and perfekt teacher, thank you :-)
This is the first time for me to listen your lecture, you gave us so lyric and poetic Chopin, thank you for your lovely lesson. (90yrs.Japanese) sorry strange English.
Excellent teacher
You are such a skilled interpreter of Debussy with all his visions of rainfall and moonbeams. Always a pleasure.
Great job!
I am a nothing "piano player" BUT I would be embarrassed to hear I played a song when I was age 12-and I'm MANY times that today. Lang Lang is introducing Rishi to the concept of bringing "sad" into playing. Of course, the older one gets and experiences life in all its iterations, sadness is expressed differently--that creates the colour in the music, from playing to performing.
A mask to play piano on a stage by himself?
What is a masterclass but the master showing how HE would play it? The student's performance here is superlative.
What prevents Lang Lang from dressing properly for a classical piano event?
Why would you expect such a unique person to conform in such a boring way?
Because he's Lang Lang, one of the great pianists ever and it doesn't matter what he's wearing, the only thing that matters is what he has to say and teach us about music
Wonderful the second movement alaways reminds me schumman Symphony No.3 in E flat, Op.97 1 mov. thanks!
Beautiful!
A dynamic roller coaster!! What fun! Well done, Rishi!
The 3 note bass decrescendo at 1:44 😭 epic!!! Great job, Rishi!!!
You need to slow down my dude. It’s good to go fast on some parts, but near the beginning you need to slow down.
You’re entitled to your opinion. Some play it even faster.
👍👍👍👍👍
Wonderful lesson 💖👍
You are very kind and generous to help young people with their piano-playing skills
You’re loser
Great
for 12 this kid is playing fantastic.he needs more masterclasses and lang is way up thee
Beautiful Rishi - Thanks.
Absolutely beautiful!
Rishi your virtuosity is like moonlight on water. I am not familiar with this piece-- I know Chopin's nocturnes better. I truly enjoyed its unfolding. Thank you.
You changed a lot!!!
If he makes a single mistake, the entire audience would laugh at him.
why?
@@daelilith4646 the thing is that from the audience’s perspective it’s more of a performance than watching a classroom. Imagine having to be taught a piece in front of 50 people watching you.
😊
wow! how he's grown
Beautiful!
Wish we could have a competition between Yuja and Lang Lang .Clash of the Titans!!!
