    Everyone has a mountain to climb, even if they live their whole life on flat ground. Some people feel the call to make their mountain a literal one, to push themselves thru the struggle. In the end, no matter the test, we all need to prove to ourselves what strength lies within.

    • @ivangonchar9927
      @ivangonchar9927 2 года назад

      Hey! To get information you have to ask people or go see for yourself. You can ask me or search google in Japanese language. The latest you can climb in the season depends on the location and the year. For Sounkyo I would not trust the ice later than mid-March.

    • @ivangonchar9927
      @ivangonchar9927 2 года назад

      Agreed. An ice bollard also takes too much effort to make. What would be your opinion on retrievable ice screw abseil techniques. Those are neat, don't you think?

    • @drewcunningham2
      @drewcunningham2 2 года назад

      @@ivangonchar9927 Unfortunately I have never used the technique.....now sixty, it has been a while since I climbed a lot of ice......I did most of my ice climbing from 1980-2005 - The biggest revolution in ice climbing gear that I lived through was when BD etc started to put speed handle/hangers on their screws....this was a godsend in my opinion as prior to that you had to use the pick of your axe to crank in a screw. I can remember many times coming so very close to disaster simply due to the exertion that was required to place an old-style screw....It really took a lot of effort and it was very awkward to do with one hand and especially when extremely pumped....The idea of a retrievable screw sounds amazing but I just don't see how it is possible? I will have to look up the technique. Cheers mate!

    Fantastic movie thanks for sharing. The way he broke down in tears when asked about how he announced his brother's death to his mother, that was difficult to watch and brought tears to my eyes. Also when he said if we don't come back in two weeks just leave, don't bother looking for us, you will never find us, that was powerful. The final conversation is one of the most beautiful I've ever heard, being able to walk, just walk, over and over without having to care about anything would be so great, I've had some of the best moments in my life by just walking in the nature...

    It was great Messner mania in Czechoslovakia in 80s. Generally it was almost impossible (or hard) to go over iron curtain to climb somewhere in world (in Alps, etc.) for most of eastern climbers, no money, no permission, even the info was hard to get. But the "mountain" feeling was there. :-)
