I went a little overboard with my decorating and technology integration this year. The display consists of 4 phillip hue bulbs, one light strip, two wemo's, four z-wave switches, a raspberry pi running home assistant, an android tablet running custom scenes using tasker, and finally a projector hooked up to a Nexus Player running Kodi. Each button on the tablet corresponds to a set of tasks in ...
Echo and Vera

I was able to connect my Android tablet, My Veralite, my Harmony Home, and my Amazon Echo all together for some sweet, sweet home automation. Tools that I used: 1- Amazon Echo 2- Veralite 3- Various Z-Wave devices 4- Phillips Hue 5- Harmony Home 6- XBOX One 7- Tasker 8- armzilla's awesome bridge github.com/armzilla/amazon-echo-ha-bridge
Nice!
Damn good. Have to rethink mine now. Did you figure out how to do voice? Asking in reddit
Have a question for you. What did you use for your garage door to project the image onto?
What app is it you are using that has all the videos on it is it something I can download
I built my own interface using scenes in the app tasker
very nice
Wow! You win at Halloween. That is an AV master peice. The touch screen and projected show that's interfaces with the lighting. Just WOW!
The console is crazy cool. Curious; how does it fare on Halloween night? Is there a gathering there that crowds up trying to use it? Nice setup btw.
great setup! love the coffin! Happy haunting!
Fantastic! This is amazing!
This is amazing! Great job!
how much that cost
epic job, really wanted you to push the thinking about stealing me button
"Alexa, turn on my Spotify music" My echo heard it and played music at max volume. Scared the crap out of me.
After downloading java and the jar file, does it matter where u put the file? I get an error that I can't access the jar. I placed the file on my desktop.
This is pretty old now. There are better solutions if you are using a vera. github.com/bwssytems/ha-bridge this seems to be popular now. In my case I had to run the .jar file in a linux box.
Thank you for the lead. I have some reading to do.
how is Alexa connected to Vera? I have the VeraPlus ,Echo,Wink,Harmony Home, Hue and Lutron Bridge for 23 Castea switches !
what about Vera??? How do you linked to Echo?
you could do all faster if you walk or program your own voice recognizer app and not use amazon
Ashu, could you give me (us) precise directions on how to connect the Vera to the Echo. I have called both Vera and Amazon and they tell me that Vera (I have the Edge) is not yet able to connect to the Echo. tia/
It is annoying when people show off what they have and don't explain how they got there. Not even a link to another video? Some people just pay others to do this and this may be the case here as well.
can i pay you to get me setup with the first few. i dont understand the bridge. i can do the rest once i have a couple exampmles in front of me.
I have ALL these components. Can you give a step-by-step on setting commands for Echo. I am using it to control Philips Hue, but the harmony and Z-wave I can't seem to get controlled. Specifically my blinds. Hints? Tricks?
when you "turn on the television" Is this done through the bridge to harmony remote or from the bridge directly to the TV? Can you please post the "on" command either way
when you switched to play Spotify, a Microsoft boot screen came up but your UI was Android? how?
+OffaMyBallzPlz The receiver switched to an input that had a microsoft miracast adapter. thats what showed the boot screen. after it booted the android tablet mirrored its screen to it.
How we can do a tutorial on how do things separately so the people know how this is accomplished all together, where did you get your info from?
Hello, All this setup connected without need programmer skill? I mean just buy all the hardware like the Echo, Veralite/veraedge, Philips Hue Bridge and Logitech Harmony Home Hub? What for Tasker and Armzilla does? thankyou
Are you using an IR based hdmi switcher and controlling that via the Harmony Home?
it's a receiver that switches inputs from the harmony
ive got almost this same setup. people think im crazy and then i show them and they lose there mind. thanks for making a video so i dont have to. i bought harmony and thought it was the best thing ever. then got the vera and thought it was the best security thing ever. then got in on the echo presale and its the best thing ever.
First off, great video. Secondly, excuse my ignorance but why do you need both a Vera and a Harmony Home? Don't they both do the same things? I've been searching for the best home hub to buy and I know that these compete with each other and many others like the Wink. thanks
unfortunately you do need both. the harmony hub controls ir and rf devices. the vera controls things on z-wave frequencies. the hue controller controls zigbee devices. they are all amazing devices by themselves.
I wish there was a video tutorial.
Are you using IFTTT to control what alexa is doing on the voice commands? Or another way? I currently have a bunch of automation in my house using my watch but since I'm not always home to do it I was thinking if I got the echo, my wife would be able to control it when I'm not home. Thanks and great video.
Only 30 Gamerscore?!?!?! GET PLAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!
Great demo. I see your list in the description but I can't figure out how you managed to get the Echo to trigger the Harmony to turn on the tv. Can you explain please?
Can you give more information on how you did this? Like the website where you found how to set up the hue bridge on the virtual machine?
It's in the description of the video
Very cool, definitely interested to see what else can be accomplished now that the Echo is released to the general public. It seems pretty responsive
