    Richard Kelly is a genius. I believe Southland Tales is the greatest film ever made. Put any department of filmmaking and what goes into a film that Southland Tales produced and I believe Southland Tales did it better.

    Southland Tales and Donnie Darko take place in the same universe. The laws of reality in Southland Tales are frighteningly similar to the ones laid out in Donnie Darko. Fluid Karma is humanity's successful, disastrous attempt at creating a tangent universe.

    it is important to note, as mentioned by the interviewer, that there are graphic novels which are a prelude to the movie and explain a lot of things that may not be apparent in the movie. once i'd read them, a lot more snapped into place. the creation of the screenplay, the role of the tattoos, the dynamic between many of the key characters and their manipulations and more are explained in them.

    The fluid carma thing and the way it works is I think a direct copy of a real technology ,tessla's Wardenclyffe tower and his free energy invention,the sending of wireless electricity.The Invention was scuttled by JP Morgan and Thomas Edison,over 100 years ago because they wanted to sell us power not give it away..Seem's the film is telling us that if we ever try to use this form of energy grid that it will end up killing us all,not even subliminaly ,just str8 up.......

    I'm honestly really happy to see other people appreciating this film. It's a work of art and it's sad to see that most people in the world, would like the film to explain every detail to them instead of trying to find a interpretation or make one yourself.

    In fact, one of the things I like best about the Cannes cut is that even though it still says IV/V/VI, it feels more like one story. No recap means the story begins through the characters' eyes and we learn the world through them, with not nearly as bad of info dumps. I roll my eyes at Kelly's comments in this video, because the people who hated it at Cannes still hate the theatrical version. But for those who appreciate it, it is the stronger, sharper, more coherent AND weirder film.

  • @BlackMoonLilith
    @BlackMoonLilith 13 лет назад

    Great movie, but the Cannes cut is so much better. Basically, if you're the kind of person who's going to hate it no matter what, the Cannes cut will be even worse, but if you appreciate it even slightly, the Cannes cut is a much better. It's long and more convoluted, but the pace is so much better, slowly introducing you to these people and this world. No dumb computer explanation for pre-2008 history, for example. And the Baron gets the best line in the film... and it got cut!

    It was a very well done job in my opinion, the casting was perfect, the dialogue, the soundtracks. Very well done. And it was really funny in a dark way at some times. Try to smoke some some while watching. It cracks you up and keeps you on the edge and thinking.

    @TheArmy19D You are correct. But I didn't "let it". I see now I'm talking to a young person. Please remember, the world was a different place in 1966. This thread is now saturated for me. I did 12 years on usenet, so talk if you want, but I'm too old for this.

  • @GuitarGare
    @GuitarGare 14 лет назад

    @TheArmy19D I guess the best way I can put it to you is this: I saw "Bonnie and Clyde" when I was 12. It messed me up for life. It was a well crafted movie, but in the end, there was some haunting imagery and a breakdown of sensibilities of a young boy. This is "irresponsible" film making, and the way of the world.

  • @GuitarGare
    @GuitarGare 14 лет назад

    @TheArmy19D Actors, writers, directors and film makers are all guilty of putting "constructs" in front of people that play with their minds, and, under the guise of "fulfilling their craft" regardless of morals portrayed, realities suspended or trodded on. If someone puts a million dollars in your face for a two week shoot to be an axe murderer, you're going to do it, regardless of resultant nightmares of the viewers. Irresponsible filmmaking is just a fact of life. I was speaking ideally.

  • @GuitarGare
    @GuitarGare 14 лет назад

    Honest hearted question: Can this person make a movie without "the end of the world" and "parallel universe" in it? I've known of this guy for three hours and these seem to be well worn plot devices. I don't care if he's a genius. I care if he's responsible.
