USSR & America destroyed Afghanistan. As for Pakistan, they were blackmailed by U.S to help Taliban grow. Plus Afghanistan's Durand Line issue made things even worse. If Afghanistan made peace with Pakistan from day one, then this collabration with U.S would not have happened. Later, those Taliban turned back on Pakistan. Moreover, Zia also destroyed Pakistan's liberal values which never full recovered since then. In the end, it was a big mess created by U.S and USSR; and its effects are still felt in Afghanistan and Pakistan. What a tragedy! Only Musharraf was successful in bring liberalism back to Pakistan but only partially. Thanks to him we can breathe now. But still we have more work to do. But these conservatives are a big thorn for the success of Pakistan. As for Afghanistan, its very unlucky.
