    I think that Rob did this at Henry's studio. Henry improved my work so much by just glancing at my portfolio. He told me not to think about texture. Get the forms right and make it dynamic. Being around a guy like Henry really improved Rob's work. Have you shown this to Rob?

    • @Makeup-fx
      @Makeup-fx 6 месяцев назад

      Yes Rob did this character at Henrys studio. But in the end, Rob called it Popeye although I think Rob’s idea for the character was to be designed as a Boxer... I agree forms are 1 important. Rob told me a long time ago this character was done and all painted.. I personallly never seen it painted. No I never showed this to Rob

    Wow! have you shown this to Rick? The tribute pieces that you have done are fantastic , as is all of your work. I can't get over how Spielberg locked him out of the shop and absconded with all of the work he did. He's the reason I became a special effects makeup artist in 1981. I saw a photo of a guy who looked and dressed like me, creating work like no one had ever seen before. It gave me the confidence to start doing it, and I haven't stopped since.

    When I think about great sculptors of the past like Michelangelo, Bernini, Reminsnider etc... They're so amazing on their own. But this really goes beyond sculpture. Its engineering, animatronics, makeup effects. They took an already incredible art form and made it their own and immortalised it on film forever. Thank you Mr. Bottin for all the amazing work and inspiring the next generations. We love you.

    For a guy that young to work on so many great films (The Thing, Total Recall, Legend, The Howling) before he was 30 is insane. Calling him a virtuoso would be an understatement. Not only do you have to be good at sculpture, but also engineering and animatronics.
