Pola Negri and Rudolph Valentino Footage
I’ve been casually looking for a copy of this film for at least 10 years.
The only word I recognized is rakkaus which means love in Finnish. And that’ll do😁 from Ukraine with rakkaus to Ville Valo and HIM💙💛 Kiitos for a lovely footage🙏🏻
Doesn’t look like Paula at all
Danke!
Pola Negri was born on January 3, 1897
Danke für diesen ausgezeichneten Film

I was related, I never was able to meet her. I heard many stories from family growing up. So proud of her.❤

"Well-publicized" is right!
What a hidden treasure, please someone translate this for the world!!!
The blonde interviewer has a beautiful face and smile and laugh.
The female interviewer may be Maria Schell, an actress.
Danke. São Paulo Brasil. So queria versão em português Brasil. Grato.André
Pola Negri may have been the one… Who knows?
Very nice.
schon die "normale" Sprechstimme zeigt das unglaubliche Klangvolumen dieser einmaligen Sängerin...
What a treat to find this Negri film! I've seen almost all of her surviving movies, and I just adore this wonderful actress.
Pola negri Born:1897 Died:1987 Age of 90😊😊❤
I did my best to translate this by using the subtitles which are in German, then transferred it to google translate. I found this interview to be very strange. After a couple of minutes of small talk and exchanging pleasantries the male interviewer ask a long question between 2:46-3:18. I think Pola Negri responded by saying “No” at 3:18, makes a final statement then abruptly gets up and walks away at 3:33. Really strange. Can anyone who speaks German confirm this? Thank you. Here it is. 0:20-0:56 Male Interviewer: We have the very special pleasure this evening, in a room at the Riems airport, one of the last big film divas of our time, Mrs. Pola Negri. Kind madam, I don't need to assure you that we are all very happy that you came here, that's not a reporter's phrase, but that's real and Mrs. Maria Schell, who is sitting opposite me, will also confirm that to you. We are really very happy that you came here and have another one here I want to bring a film. 0:57-1:29 Mrs. Pola Negri: I'm very, very touched, I'm really happy to be back in Germany after 20 years. Male Interviewer: After 20 years? Mrs. Pola Negri: It's been years since January I left Germany on January 29th. And I'm really happy and I'm sending my warmest wishes to all my German friends. Male Interviewer: That's very kind. Mrs. Pola Negri: Maybe I must apologize, I’m a bit tired and nervous because this is the first time I've ever met... (No translation 1:37-1;42) Money withdrawn in America (No translation 1:47-1:51) 1:52-2:04 Female Interviewer: There is a very nice evening show here every day and sometimes this viewing just didn't bring much joy to such a rude mind. (No Translation 2:05-2:16) 2:15-2:20 Male Interviewer: I also have to do a little something to my hair or something like that. (Note: He’s bald & trying make a joke) (No Translation 2:20-2:24) 2:25-2:37 Female Interviewer: How happy and proud we are that we have her with us and I would also like to say how happy I am personally that I was able to get to know her because I was a big part of it. (No Translation 2:38-2:45) 2:46-3:17 Male Interviewer: I would have liked to ask you to tell me a little more about your memories of Masurka, especially that it was one of those films that we, who were very aware of at that time, still have fondest memories of and I actually thought about it today. It was quite strange about the line-up back then that our young colleague Ingeborg Teck had to have been much closer to us in terms of age, if I may say so, but we can see that in our memories we were always only signed. 3:18-3:33 Mrs. Pola Negri: No. I'm very touched and I'm really happy to be here again and Germany has always brought me luck artistically and I hope that this time too, so thank you very much.
Thank you for this translation! It's great!
Thank you sir we appreciated😊

Zyla w luksusie, prawie cale dlugie swoje bujne zycie. Na tamte czasy urocza i taka ladna odwazna dziewczyna z Polski wyjechala w swiat. W Niemczech zrobila kariere, posluguje sie tym jezykiem nawet w 1959 roku. W USA tez bawila sie wybornie. Pola Negri jak to dumnie brzmi.Tyle lat minelo a jej nazwisko takie pamietne.🌹
Bo była Polką ojciec rom a matka polka więc geny pół na pół nie znaczyło że była tylko Romka
Tu tez fajny filmik o Poli : ruclips.net/video/Ny_g_PPQBeY/видео.html 🤗

Thank You For This! Love Pola, And Madame Bovary is one of my favorite novels
You're very welcome! 🙂
That interview is priceless ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm proud to be her compatriot. She is one of the most famous Polish women all over the world. Maby more known is only Maria Skłodowska-Curie
She was half Slovak
She was born in Lipno, Poland. Her mother was Polish noblewoman and father a Gipsy from what is now Slovakia. In Lipno they still show where her father made brass roofs.
What a stupid statement. So you are proud of Pola Negri, who isn't your family member, your child or even a pupil, who made a name for herself regardless of you (you, who were born decades after she passed away)... and you are "proud" of her because of what? Only because she happened to be Polish AND famous? What if there was a Polish porn star who was more famous than her? Or what if there was a woman even more worthy than her to held in high regard but completely unknown to the world? One grosik for your thoughts...
Bullshit, love. If anything, she was half Polish, half American. You're mistaking her with her daddy (who btw wasn't around) @@martinayari3529
Grossartig! 🙏🏻

Could anyone translate into English, please? Why was Maria Schell there? Thank you.
Hi! I don’t know German unfortunately ! 😢
The host introduces Ms. Negri (from a room in an airport in Riems, curiously) as one of the last great film divas of their time. He assures her it's a great joy (and not just idle reporter talk) to have her and have her bring a film with her. Ms. Negri says she is incredibly moved. She says she's very happy to be in Germany, having not been there since January of '39. She sends well-wishes and greetings to all her German friends. She apologizes for being tired and says she's nervous, having never appeared on television before. (She also says she'd refused a crazy amount of money--presumably to appear on TV in the US, but her response becomes a bit hard to make out at this point, since she falls into a kind of nervous chuckle.) After that, there's an exchange of pleasantries with Schell, with the two women claiming to be honored to meet one another. The host then breaks in to ask Ms. Negri if she could share any of her memories of filming Mazurka, since it's a film they hold especially dear. It's possible she--whether due to tiredness or just as a result of losing the thread of the conversation--didn't follow this, since she essentially ignores this request, instead saying she is honored and delighted to be back in Germany, since Germany has always brought her luck. She then gets up and walks off. (I almost wonder if she just kinda [politely] cut them short. The more I think about it, the more I suspect that maybe they cornered her and weaseled their way into a TV interview she wasn't too keen to give.)
@@smurfthumper Thank you very much for taking the trouble to translate this for me. Even though l don't understand German l had gathered that the interview ended rather abruptly, and l think you are right that perhaps Miss Negri had not expected the TV cameras and having been put on the spot simply decided she had given enough of her time and left.
You're a legend! Also, what an epic nickname @@smurfthumper
