Miller Multimatic 220 unboxing and review
Просмотров 7 тыс.2 года назад
In this video we will be Unboxing and reviewing a miller multimatic 220 welding machine. This machine is capable of welding Tig, Mig and stick and features AC and DC current.
So, during your unboxing & review at the end of the session you mentioned that you were a welding instructor. I am a car hobbyist and looking for a multiprocess solution as space is a premium. I can’t go the H.F. cheap welder route because buying garbage 2 x’s cost more than quality. I’m weighing out my options and feel like the 220 is great. The Green machine company has a model with plasma option, for nearly the same price optioned in a bundle. Did you consider the offshore machines? Or is serviceability a factor in your decision? It’s a sizable investment!
Really bothered by the end of angle you welded to the front to hold the welder. You could have folded the angle and closed the ends off to remove the sharp corners. Great project using common tools and not crazy expensive tools most of us don’t have .. thank you
G’day and greetings from Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 you have given great advice without getting too complicated, I’m 67 and I am building a 71/4” locomotive and tender, the tender has a frame made out os stainless steel 316 angle which is jointed on 45o . So any help I can get the better I’ve mig welded some parts on it they haven’t come out to bad. I have Unimig Viper 185 which I’m slowly getting use to, great channel you explain what you are doing very well. Kind regards John
Extremely happy with mine. I've never liked miller tig torches anyways so i sold it and bought a ck flex torch 😁
Good teacher love it
Perfect video for my current concern! I am just starting to learn about welding and don’t have a cart or table yet. While a really cheap cart might work for my one MIG machine now, I hope to be able to add additional “weapons” to my arsenal as my experience and needs grow. Being able to modify the HF cart to accept 2 bottles was my major interest, but your other modifications help me see the possibilities for starting with a “good” cart and making it much better! I am originally from Oklahoma, but wear Crimson and Cream rather than orange. Keep making videos and I’ll try to ignore the fact that you just happen to be wearing the wrong color! Thanks again for a great job!
Sold my Miller 220 for a HTP 2500 and have never been more happy with a welding machine decision. The 220 was lacking, auto switch wouldn’t work half the time, the control board would glitch out and lock up, leads wear under rated for machine, tig and stick processes were mediocre at best and it wouldn’t run 6010 without a lot of problems! Got a ESAB 205 as well and would also choose it over the Miller 220! More options, better performance and no issues other than when it got extremely cold I got an error but this was resolved with the update from the included usb.
Nice cart and welder.
HF version of that cart - front casters needed to be replaced once I put my Miller on top. I do need to replace the rear wheels next - but they hare handling the 80/40 tanks I have on the back now.
I got the same machine got the same same issue with the tig torch
Man can you make me some of those brackets 😊
Should have done the 110 on another plate for aluminum. Heat was already in the plate.
I 100% agree that when you try to manipulate the torch, the outside sleeve slips and turns and pisses me off. Thank you for bringing this issue to all Miller welders with this torch.
Seems like a huge oversight hopefully it gets fixed!
Hi! How can you see the path of travel if you're glasses are so dark like in the video? If your helmet isn't auto darkening? Also how do you weld thin materials together if your electrode is 2.5 mm? Thank you!
Can you weld tig without the foot pedal in this machine?
Yes you can there is a lift/scratch start mode!
Ok thank you appreciate it looking to get one
@bernabevela6272 you’re welcome I am very happy with mine
,😅
THANK YOU SEÑOR!!
You’re welcome!
Great video!
Thank you!
Bro. You are simply awesome. I just got a small welding machine and had many confusions. You cleared em all. The breakdown of code of stick was very helpful. Saved it.😊
Glad the video helped!
What exactly was the issue with the breaker popping? And what size breakers did you need for the 120 and 240?
Just a bad breaker got it swapped out and haven’t had an issue since! As far as beakers I used a 15amp for all the 120 and a 60amp for the 240
Hi, does that machine weld 3/8" plate?
Yes it will!
@@jase_of_all_trades891 Sorry... How many amps was it?

great and informative... thank you,,
You’re welcome I’m glad you enjoyed!
Thx for this video
Sure thing!
'Promosm' ✌️
explained very well
Thanks!
my titanium multi process welder only goes to only 70 amps on my SMAW is that a issue I payed 600$ for the machine and a lot in taxes
With 70 amps you’ll be limited in material thickness you can weld. However using a smaller electrode and multiple passes can be a reasonable workaround depending on what it is you’re welding.
Are you running it off 120v outlet? You should run it off a 240v outlet. Also you can get the titanium 225 stick, it's a very good machine. Dual Voltage, but you'll get most out of it from a 240v outlet.
Excelent Video
I’m glad you enjoyed!
This is really informative in a good way! you make it easy for me to understand, while maintaining my interest the whole way through! Awesome video!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video for beginners, simple, clear and concise.
Thank you!
Thanks
No problem!
Thank you for this. Like the other guy in the comments, I'm teaching myself to weld too. Cheers!
That’s awesome! Glad the videos have been helpful!
Great video, I’m just teaching myself how to weld. Your tips really help. Thanks again 😊
I’m Glad the videos have been helping!
This was another great episode. About the visibility, you mentioned the difference with gold coated 2x4 " lenses. Add a small LED torch on top of the helmet to improve visibility, e.g., using some velcro pieces. Works for all helmets really well, and in particular, less well-lit welding positions. Cheers.
Thanks for sharing!
Nice build. Cheers.
Thanks 👍
Hi, this was an excellent overview with a few excellent tips. As a beginner welder, I appreciated your series of how-to videos. The only thing I would have wished for is fundamental data about the plate thickness (plus if also given in metric) and the rod size/type used. I often see very thick plates used in practice. I guessed because of certification, but they are more expensive than thinner materials. Keep the good episodes coming. Cheers.
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent video!!
Glad you liked it!
Your welding skills are really professional! We want to get in touch with you, can you leave your email address? Thanks!
Hey thank you! You can find my contact email in the about section in the channel page!
Way better than my instrucyure
Glad you enjoyed!
Maybe a light above the work piece .
I think it is more about my camera settings, but thank you!
good job - simple and clear
Glad you liked it!
do you have a favorite hoodie for welding? I have found that blocking out sunlight from the back of my hood with a hoodie helps my view of the puddle a lot.
I like anything cheap and thin so I can wear them under my welding shirts from western welder!
I clamp a hair dryer to blow along m¥ weld to blow smoke away and improve my view of the weld puddle(i have crappy vision). your videos might be more informative if you tried this so the puddle can be seen better.
Yes, the arc shots are an ongoing learning process. I think auto focus is picking up the smoke! Ps you should be careful not to blow away to much shielding, but I think on low a blow dryer is a great solution!
You to illuminate the welding surface so we can see the rod all I see is fire.
The arc shot are definitely a work I progress.
Very easy to understand, please do a video on best plasma cutters and how to set them up, especially the air intake, cheers.
I’ll put it on the list! Thank you for the suggestion.
I'm just starting out my welding journey and learning all I can so that I set myself up for success. So I'm watching lots of videos. And let me tell ya, as a new channel you are doing it right! The instructions, explanations, and examples are clear, concise, and keep me engaged. Keep up the great content!
Thank you! Wishing you the best in your welding journey!
Same. Here.
Nice video keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
im looking to buy this machine, any other downsides after using it for a while?
Nope! Just the ones covered in the video. I have been very happy with the machine!
Thank you for this video. I begin a night welding class for my own edification this week. The features and technology of hoods is more than I expected.
Glad I could help!
I have the multimatic 220 would you be able to tell me what size adapter I would need for the output side of the regulator I took that part off bc it does not fit my hose and I can’t find a adapter that fits the threads inside the regulator
From what I understand the tapped hole in the regulator, SHOULD be a 1/4 fnpt. With that said I would recommend just taking the regulator to whichever parts store is nearby and double checking that. I hope that helps.
