You can't charge capacitors using AC. Also it's not gonna pop if U use too high voltage. Instead of charging or discharging the capacitor the voltage will just create an arc in the capacitor itself I guess. Best way of popping capacitors is using a extension cable and a (230V AC) power socket (for me at least). The best explosions I got were from small 24V or 48V capacitors. I once made a slo-mo record of one and it literally created sparks. It's gonna pop your breaker but it almost works 100% of the time.
