Selections from “14 Etudes for Snare Drum,” by Blake Tyson—Carsyn Jacobsen
Blake Tyson is a big name in percussion repertoire. His compositions are performed worldwide. This performance includes 3 selections from his “14 Etudes for Snare Drum.” Etude No. 11, Cloudburst, attempts to capture the intensity and unpredictability of a cloudburst, which is a very sudden and intense amount of precipitation in a localized area. The title of Etude No. 12, Ice Dragons, holds a clue to the origins of the rhythmic structures the piece is based on. As a matter of fact, “Ice Dragons” is an anagram for the words “Igor Dances,” which alludes to the fact that the meter patterns and themes are adapted from rhythms and meters found in Igor Stravinsky’s ballets “Rite of Spring” and ...

Druidic Enlightenment
Просмотров 883 месяца назад
This is a digital art drawing done by Rebecca Luke. The music playing is what I wrote based on the drawing. The entire work together is called Druidic Enlightenment. The music is written for Woodblock, Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, and Glockenspiel. I had a lot of fun writing this piece because it incorporates a strange combinations of complex rhythms that obscure the initially clear beat. It...
Marimba Transcription -- Moonlight Sonata, Beethoven -- partially arranged by Lucid Duo
Просмотров 9347 месяцев назад
Moonlight Sonata, or "Sonata quasi una fantasia," as it was called by Ludwig van Beethoven when he composed it in 1801, is a great piano work in three movements. I transcribed the first two movements for Marimba myself. The third movement was arranged by Lucid Duo (Tomasz Goliński & Irena Manolova) as a duet. I performed all three movements at my senior percussion recital: the duet featured Vic...
Marimba Solo -- Acceleration, by Carsyn Jacobsen
Просмотров 737 месяцев назад
Acceleration is the first marimba solo I’ve composed. The name references the pacing of the piece: the beginning is soft and empty with very little motion, while the end is nearly frantic in its density and intensity. The first section of the piece gradually introduces the central theme in sparse fragments, building in pacing and volume up to the main idea. A contrasting rolled section breaks u...
Easy Music Theory: The Weirdest Scales
Просмотров 512 года назад
Music Theory! A wild subject. Today, we enter the contemporary era, with the Whole Tone, Pentatonic, Hexatonic, and Octatonic scales, after a brief review of the Diatonic scales. Designed as an approachable tutorial, this should make sense to just about anyone. I focus mostly on how to make these crazy scales. Let me know what other videos you'd like to see.
Carol of the Bells: Then DARK BELL CAROL
Просмотров 623 года назад
First, a performance of Mykola Leontovich's Carol of the Bells, arranged by Melody Bober. Then, a complete improvisation based off the same melodies and keys. Completely spontaneous, not written down. No music was used: the original arrangement was memorized.
Inside Out Main Theme: Piano and Ukulele

This is the main theme from Disney Pixar's movie Inside Out. Both instruments are out of tune, I know. Also in this video, with her first appearance on my channel, is my college friend Britta. Please comment suggestions for future songs we should try, and subscribe so you'll see them.
Musically Exploring D Minor
Просмотров 124 года назад
I am improvising for fun now. On a Grand Piano, in D Natural Minor, I improvise this piece, entirely on the spot. I can't think of the right word to describe it. Depending on the passage, it could be calm, relaxed, tense, nervous, reflective, sad, nostalgic, longing, or a whole host of other ideas. I love the beauty in music. Watch to the end to know what to comment.
Relaxing Piano Music in D Major
Просмотров 774 года назад
Today I'm trying something new. I just spent three or so minutes improvising in D Major to make good music on the piano. I was going for something peaceful and generally relaxing, although some of the higher notes came out a little harsh. This music would be good for relaxation, study, possibly meditation. Leave down in the comments some kind of mental image or story you heard in the piece. Tha...
Is Original Timeline Flash Evil? Where is he?

The Arrowverse DC/CW tv show The Flash follows Barry Allen as the Scarlet Speedster. However, the entire first season is really an alternate timeline in which his mother dies. So where is the original Barry Allen from the original timeline. What does the Speed Force do? Did Barry Allen really ruin the Mark Mardon Timeline?
Просмотров 354 года назад
Barry Allen, AKA the Flash, first travelled through time midway through season one. He makes some changes, which he laments as being far worse than the original tragedies. I am here to remind you all that it is, in fact, much much better for Cisco, Iris, Eddie, and his knowledge of Dr. Harrison Wells/Reverse Flash. Major to Minor: Inside Out Theme

This happy major song takes on an eerie feel when switched to minor. Inside Out movie and song belongs to Disney, as it is a Pixar movie. This particular arrangement was arranged by Aldric Lopez. I play this quickly on the piano, it is a beautiful soft piece.

Thank you!
lol
bro this is so sick
Cool
First!!!!!!!
Play it brother. I just got one and its fun so far. Cheers!!! I subscribed :)
I hope you enjoy playing your percussion instrument! Thanks for your support
Instead of being funny in the beginning, I would have liked to hear a song; would have loved to hear you play a pretty current song.
That is something I would consider doing if I were to make this video again today. I have access to much better-sounding instruments, and I know a lot more songs than I did back then. But that is a fair point.
Geez, the mallets mentioned are about $22.00. Wait until this guy has to pay his own way in this life, he will definitely appreciate his glockenspiel and all the junk that comes with it. It was a good video, gave it a thumbs up.
Those mallets aren't cheap, you're right, but the cheaper ones really don't produce as good of a sound. I've started university studies in percussion, and I believe the most recent set of mallets I've purchased cost around $75 dollars. I've also had the opportunity to play on a professional grade glockenspiel, and the sound is leaps and bounds better than the model featured in this video. The money is a lot, but it makes a huge difference. The more I've paid for percussion equipment, the less I've appreciated what comes in beginner cases.
I’m getting fed up with my Glockenspiel I could use some help please
What’s the issue? Maybe I’ve got a tip
Çok güzel 😊
Man you know one thing .... Barry Allen becomes savitar because of iris westallen death ..... The whole iris death is a loop .... Barry sees iris death and becomes savitar .... In season 3 Barry goes to future to find out who is savitar .... And Barry who saw iris dies is still there .... So your theory is soo wrong ....
I see your concern. Please let me explain why I don’t believe that’s the whole story. The show portrays the whole situation as self-causing. This means that Savitar killed Iris because Iris died. It’s a paradox. While yes, every repetition of Savitar is, as you say, because of Barry watching Iris die, there must have been an original. This is simply a law of science in application. Think of it like temporal inertia: there must be a cause for every event. It can’t cause itself. Therefore, the original, first Savitar must have been caused by something else, as proposed in my video. Every other repetition is as you say. But the first is the one that starts the loop, by being driven insane locked in the speed force, watching his other life.
Such a pretty song played by such a great piano player.
Thanks!

Great job!
What are your thoughts on this great nations next president elect
I believe that in the end, God is in control. Whoever could’ve been elected, things will only happen if God allows it.
@@thecarsyndaily8899 I think God voted for Trump
This was adorable! Can you do "Married Life" from up? Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion! That’ll be our next piano uke duo!
Had a good laugh, keep it up!
Nice love you channel 🙃
I should hope you do with all the times I feature you guys.
I live in Spokane, Wa. I was sitting on my bed when I felt a little shake followed by a swaying motion. I'm from Southern California so I'm aware of what quakes feel like even the smaller ones. I knew immediately what I was feeling and I panicked. I thought for sure it was a precursor to a bigger wave of shaking. Thank goodness that was all I felt, but it was unnerving nonetheless! Btw.. you did an excellent job explaining your experience. Thank you for making this vlog. Also, I agree with you about these end time events we're having. The Lord Jesus' return is soon... even at the door!
Thanks for sharing your experience, I've been curious how bad it was further away.
Thank you for the information sir, may I ask if you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ
I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer and the Only Begotten Son of the Father. Thanks for asking.
In St Regis Montana and I still felt it-
Yikes, that's pretty widespread, hope you're okay
@@thecarsyndaily8899 We live in a small trailer home so it felt like someone was shaking the house. It wasn't bad but it spooked us.
I was talking to a friend about mt st helens and how an earthquake helped cause its eruption. then the earthquake hit.
That is oddly coincidental
Just West of Challis, not Just East. Right by Stanley
Oh, really? Oops. Thanks for the correction.
Are you ok?
I am, thank you for your concern!
Great vid yo!
Glad you liked it!
Corona virus, earthquake, I think God's tryna tell us something here ppl 2 CHRONICLES chapter 7 verse 14🙏
That's a good one
Yup.
Stay safe brother. Cali here... mom in buhl.
Thanks for your wish of safety. Cali's an earthquake place too, I've heard. You stay safe too.
What’s next!? Yellowstone? First salt lake then Boise! Hmmm it’s getting freaky
Hopefully not Yellowstone. That'd be much worse...

I wish I could say you were wrong...
Carsyn Jacobsen omg😂😂😂
What Potatoes?? Cant find any here Haha😂😂
We thought it was biblical too
Earthquakes are predicted all over the place.
I felt it in Spokane
How bad was it over there?
It wasn't that bad. Could hardly feel it, things were swaying
I'm in Texas and www.weather.com told us.....
Glad it wasn't big enough for you to feel it over there. That'd cause problems
im in middleton and my family was FREAKING out
It really is something we haven't seen in this area lately! Freaking out makes sense here
I am in burley and it was crazy I felt it it lasted 45 seconds
We only felt 10-20 seconds of shaking, then a lot of swaying. It was eerie!
Jesus is coming. Be ready. ruclips.net/video/Wh1VU-_OF98/видео.html
Someday soon. Get to the places you need to be, everyone. And root yourself strongly.
Hopefully yellowstone blows soon
You stupid people never cease to amaze me.
Be Trumps fault if it did.
If Yellowstone blows, that's the Western US gone. It's scary, but a possibility for the next few centuries
@@totallyjonesin how would it be trumps fault
@@ammonskiing698 That's just how MSM rolls.
Where should I get a Glockenspiel?
It all depends on what is available in your area. Any local instrument store should have a basic glockenspiel kit. If you want a professional grade glockenspiel, I don't actually know where to go to purchase one. You could ask the people at the store about that, or contact a music teacher, they will know.
Haha! Awesome! Keep it up! Marching band is almost here! Are you excited??
Yeah. Marching Season is the Best
Great!!!
Thanks isaac!
Could you show us how to play faster?
Thank you for the comments, by the way. I will likely be showing RUclips through a video how to play faster sometime in the future, but I'll tell you here. The main trick to playing faster is to relax. Another good tip is to be making sure your sticks are being held properly. Hope that helps
Hey Bro love the videos. As a fellow percussionist that is just starting out it was very helpful
