Thank you for re-recording this episode and for the little clip at the end... I have neither knit with BC garn (yarn) and I have also see some on sale lately but my stash is bursting at the seam... and I try to resist... I cannot wait for the hilja dress to be finish (as I already said :))... on my queue to start early spring or perhaps earlier in holst super soft...not much advice from me regarding stains or naphthalene smell...Greetings from Sweden!
@@sabrinabodevin6217 the yarn is lovely, I would recommend trying it when you stash down. I wish I had a big stash…I usually buy to knit straight away. Thank you for watching! ❤️
Hi from the Qld border👋🏻. I have the same question about moth balls. I had the smell in a blanket from my grandmother. I washed it 3 times and dried it in the sun, on the clothesline. The smell was less but not gone. I did hear that if you put brown paper over your oil marks and iron over the top the brown paper absorbs the oil. I haven’t tried it though. Happy making 🧶
@@A.McD.81 Hello! I have googled that charcoal may help with the smell and I remembered that I bought a little bag of charcoal from Aldi that you put in your laundry hamper to trap smells, I will try it and let you know! Thanks for the advice on the oil spot ❤️
Hi! So nice to see what you are doing ❤ about the cardigan, I wouldn’t change the sleeves because they are so wide. I have garments with very wide, long sleeves and I get them tangled into everything and dip them in my food - it’s a mess 😂 ❤ Marie
Just an add on 😅 I don’t think the Sun bleached stribe on the top will disappear with dye. You can unravel and repurpose the yarn and the stribe will be blended in ❤ Regarding the pockets in the pants. I think it’s supposed to be like that because the pockets are a design thing - not supposed to be used ❤ they have sewn it into the waistband because it makes it more stabil and prevents it from getting out of shape ❤ linen it a very delikate material
@@MetteMarieKokholm great point! 😂
@@MetteMarieKokholm great idea to rein it the top! That makes sense for the pockets, thank you so much ❤️
I also love yours channel. I like the sleeve length on the cardigan but I understand why you would want them longer. I wish I had advice on the silk top! Have you tried finding the brand and style of pant online to see what they look like there?
@@thelefthandedreader6632 thank you! Great idea to look up the pants online ❤️
hi, love your channel. the granny square cardi would look good with extra squares on the sleeves. i wouldn't mess with the silk top. You can not see the marks. i would just wear it.
@@relbishop5530 thank you so much ❤️
Hi! Thanks for the video!! I have bought the sunday cardigan pattern too but I am scared to start because of the size guide, I see it is a little tight in the picture. Would you recommend a size up? Did you knitt your true size? ❤
@@kikikoko3266 I think I sized up, but due to my gauge. It’s top down so you can always keep increasing until it fits after trying on after sleeve split :)
@@handcraftswithnadine yes right 😊 thank you!!! 🌷💕

Hi Nadine 😊 I loved your hinterland dress and all the knitting, as always. Here in Ireland, we are having a few warm and sunny days at the moment, but I am preparing for winter and swatching for a ranunculus sweater in De Rerum Natura Ulysse that I won in a giveaway a few years ago ❤ I am also knitting a pair of fun stripy socks and cutting fabric for a quilt (my first one)!
Oh, I would love to try that wool too! Let me know how you like it. I made a quilt a few years ago and I loved it, enjoy ❤
Our cat has enjoyed nibbling on the bamboo needle tips in the past so I have sanded them as you have. Your suggestion of using wax paper to make them smooth and slide easily again is great! Will have to try that now. Thanks from Montana US!
Luckily my Lab is not a chewer😂 Thank you so much for watching and let me know if the wax paper works out for you ❤

I'm using the Bendigo Woollen Mills Beechwood needles a lot. Have you tried them? I don't like their aluminium needles, nor any these days. I haven't found an aluminium needle I liked unless they were vintage (yet the vintage ones can have issues with the cord despite having good needles compared to modern makes). However, I find the Beechwood needles are great and also inexpensive compared to a lot of other needles. Other than these wooden needles I have a Chaigoo set, which I don't often use (unless it's a Chaigoo Twist sock set) as my go to are Addi for when I want a slippery metal needle. Seems like you are a knitter that puts pressure on the join. In which case I'd say avoid the metal cords as they give way faster from constant bending pressure.
@@nefraial thanks so much, I would love to try those!
Hi from the UK, love how you put everything together very informative you are very talented it’s wonderful to create something isn’t it? I’ve just started to try mosaic knitting and am shocked at how easy it is, I have been sewing for years which I love, and started knitting a couple of years ago again and trying Tunisian crochet , thank you for this I really enjoyed it👍⭐️X

Hi Nadine love you videos I am j from Cornwall in the south west of the uk.
@@stephielightfoot639 Hi Stephie, thank you so much 😊 There is a Cornwall in Ontario Canada, close where I grew up.
Hello Nadine I am watching from Minnesota USA. Your cardigan is lovely I know how you feel about yarn choices I’ve made choices I have regrets about but it is ever evolving in me. I’m retired. I try to knit everyday. Lately life has gotten in the way. Your Hinterland dress is great in the denim fabric. I would like to sew clothing again for myself. I’m out of practice. When I use the Italian cast on I always work at least one row before joining in the round sometimes more. Then I use the tail to close that gap while I weave that end and make that joining stitch look good.
@@sallyidso182 That is great advice for the Italian Cast On, I actually did an extra row on my second attempt recently and it worked great! Thank you so much for watching ❤️
Hi Nadine. You popped up in my feed. So glad you did. Your jacket/cardigan is lovely. I am interested in sewing a hinterland dress. I will have to add it to my vast to do list. My name is also Nadine. Thank you for a lovely 1/2 hour. Nadine
@@nadinemcnamara6064 thank you so much! Yeah, another Nadine! Go for it, the Hinterland dress is such a great pattern. ❤️
Hi Nadine I just found your channel and subscribed. I love the content as I knit and bake bread not sourdough yet as I’ve not mastered the starter yet. I’m trying to learn how to ferment my own veggies. I was buying them in jars then found out that the most are pastured which destroys the good bacteria. I love the magpie story yours are a bit different from ours here. When I was in Perth visiting family I videos them and one came up and stared right into the camera looking right at me I definitely wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of them 🤣 we are moving quickly into autumn now and my jumpers will be out shortly…enjoy your spring sending blessings from Scotland 🏴
@@fionasmall4384 thank you so much! Sourdough is really fun and easy, hopefully I’ll post my method soon. I’ve only fermented cabbage (sour kraut and kimchi), good luck and let me know how you go. ❤️
Thank you so much for another great podcast! I am another hinterland dress lover, and I also have the Hilja dress pattern in my favorites :) I am really tempted to try kombucha but a bit shy to try the process .... but you are right it is so rewarding... even with bugs and birds attack I would love to live in a more tropical area!!! Warm greetings from Sweden!
I cannot wait to start the Hilja dress! Kombucha is really easy, I’ll try to show the recipe another time. Thank you so much for watching and I would LOVE to visit Sweden one day…❤
I am so enjoying your podcasts! I live in the southeastern United States, so I also dread spring with the ants, roaches, spiders, and snakes that reappear. But we don’t deal with swooping birds, at least where I live! I love sewing and knitting and like seeing what you have made. Plus I enjoy hearing about your daily life.
We used to go to Florida in the summer when I was a kid and I remember the Palmetto Bugs 😮 Thank you so much for watching! ❤️

Your new Hinterland is wonderful! In case this helps when sewing the bias tape neckline, I use a children's washable glue stick (they make them for sewing too but they are more expensive- the ones for EPP come to mind) to get everything in place before I sew, it is a lot easier! Alternatively, have you given facing a try? If not, you may like that better than bias binding. I have just found your channel, and I think it is lovely :) Happy sewing and knitting!
@@julestopper7553 thank you so much! I may have to give both of those a try! ❤️
Hi Nadine! I dropped into this episode because I just bought the Hinterland pattern with the intentions of making a cotton summer and flannel winter version. I just moved from Quebec back to Ottawa, Ontario so I had a chuckle when I heard that you had lived in Montreal. You have travelled a long way from home. Your business and crafting life sounds so interesting. I really enjoyed this episode and subscribed so that I can catch your future uploads. Best wishes from Margaret (of My Wonderful Knitting Life channel).
@@mywonderfulknittinglife Beat of luck with your Hinterland dresses, they are the BEST! Yes I grew up in Montreal, lived in Toronto for a few years when I was a Flight Attendant, back to Montreal and now wayyyyyyyy over here in Oz! I love Ottawa, I will have to check out your Channel ❤️
The dress turned out wonderfully! When I'm having trouble gathering heavier weight fabrics I find I have to not only increase stitch length but also put the tension way down. For gathering threads that snap, I've resorted to using top stitching thread, as it's a much heavier weight thread. The pleats were a great solution for your denim dress:)
Thank you so much 😊 I’ll have to look into this topstitching thread of which you speak 🙏
Love your bargain dress. Your cardigan is so nice. I don’t sew & live in Scotland but my daughter lives in the Gold Coast so might ask her to buy in Brisbane. New subscriber Thanks 🏴

So glad you popped up on my feed. The cardigan is lovely. I’m looking for a cardigan/jacket pattern to make with the Nutiden I just bought, but was hoping to use only one strand. Or should I bite the bullet and buy a cone of Jamieson & Smith 4 ply to hold it with. Happy creating 💚🧶💚
@@Meredith36 thank you so much ❤️ If your pattern needs stitch definition ai would hold it with something else.
@@handcraftswithnadine thank you!
The Hinterland dress pattern came out after the popularity of Pyne & Smith dresses. Interestingly enough, though I thrifted a 90s pattern a few years ago, that's pretty much the Hinterland pattern. It's a style that just keeps coming back! That dress is a great find at just $20. Store bought linen dresses can be $$$
@@mirandarileydesigns it’s such a great pattern that looks great on so many people and looks so different depending on views/fabric choice. The retail price of the dress (I looked it up) was $190 but I was lucky to find it at the flea market. 😝
@@handcraftswithnadine looking up the retail price of thrifted items is so satisfying! I agree about the Hinterland pattern. I've made it 10 times and "hacked" each one to be unique:)
