(joking). Hi, I work for Epson. We spent over $5.9 Million designing this roller that wears out to be installed in such a way that you'll have to take apart 99.99% of the unit to access it. We had a hard time doing this too, it was very easy to make it so you could just unclip the rollers like the large roller but Steve, (good ol Steve) was able to find a way so you have to remove the screws, rollers, shells, rubber bands etc! All for the customer! We want to be sure it doesn't fall out, ya know? Seems very secure now. 🙄 *sigh* Venting aside, thank you for this video! Yes, I can do it but I'm not going to bother. Just ordered a new one but your video saved me a ton of time! THANKS!

After I replaced the parts just like you. When I feed the paper to scan but it makes a loud sound. I have to push the paper down to force it to scan. Do you know what's wrong with it? Do I need to replace the other 2 rollers? Thanks

At 3:15 when the tech is removing the plastic gears, you want to insert a flat head screw driver and put light-medium pressure on the gear (pushing away from the rod with screw driver, using the gear and edge of scanner for leverage) next, there is a small clip on the inside of the gear. of you are looking at the gear straight, its close to the center. It locks the gear to the rod. you want to pry that tab/clip AWAY from the center, that will allow the gear to come off and relieve the pressure you put on it with the screwdriver. It is a pretty small clip. I used a knife blade for that clip.

For those wondering, when the video skips around the 2:30-2:35 mark, the cover plate has to be at just the right angle to come out. Took me a bit to figure that out.

my scansnap s1500 is grabbing multiple pages often and sometimes crumpling the paper, much more than it used to. Do i need to replace rollers? or is there a way to fix it by cleaning?
