Thank you for sharing your system - very helpful way to distinguish structured vs. unstructured knowledge. Have used Roam extensively as my main pkm for a couple years, it rings true to me how crucial it is to have a more structured system in order to increase final outputs and manage them.

How do I open up links that are in the Right Sidebar in the Left main window so like vice versa.

Have you tried Focusmate? You get 3 free sessions a week on the free plan and the paid plan is 5 dollars per month. I've not tried Caveday but I personally feel like having so many people on a call would be a bit overwhelming and distracting. Focusmate is one on one which I enjoy. Thanks for the video

I use the app Obsidian. Linking thinking. This app changed my life in such a positive way. Mindchanging and deep insight. Such a powerfull tool.

as an outsider (observer), I see your method is very difficult to manage and maintain for your future self. Because it looks so messy and you have to read everything to understand it. Maybe there is a better way to manage it by using categorization like a numbering system. Then make another hub as an entrance for the topic you are interested in.

Exactly the kind of video i was looking for on Zettelkasten Method. I wanted to understand the thought process behind reference, literature and permanent notes and you covered this important aspect. Btw i going to implement this method on Obsidian. Let's see how it works out for me.

I agree with you. It is not time efficient. I just sort my highlights from kindle under different topics, example: #parenting #mindfulness #forgiveness etc... Where ever needed, i may rephrase or summarize an idea,.... That way i am revising what i read, and will use the material according to what i might need later... Which obviously i dont know now. An extra step that i do while sorting my highlights is make a list of actionable steps, which i learnt from the said material and am going to incorporate in my life, so that there is real benefit from consuming so much material rather than just regurgitating stuff.

Your statement on “Rational” being treated with more respect where it hinders your growth into the person you want to be in terms of lifestyle and putting yourself in the right surroundings for you is such an important message to keep in mind. This was really insightful. I appreciate that gem of information about journaling being a catalyst to a longer term solution for this “stickiness”, you make some really good points.

I use Roam 100% with my Keyboard only. Combining room-toolkit and Roam42 with Deep Nav does the job. VIM keybindings are useful. So, literally: You don't have to use your mouse at all. 🐭🚫 To open block-refs in the sidebar, there is a shortcut for that too when using VIM.

For adding things into my Roam via websites (youtube, ebooks, articles, etc) I use a Chrome extension called Eloquent, which can grab text from any website & you can also type in it. For podcasts I use Airr. An Android alternative is Momento. Another thing I'm just starting to do with my quotes & nuggets to retain is to number them. (I also do this with affirmations & key take aways from my various notes). So like #quote1340, #aff204, #kta449, #nug3022, etc. So then when I bring up my daily template, I can use a simple number generator to give me random quotes for me to think on during the day, as block references. An added feature of doing this is finding new thoughts from serendipitous randomisation, if that makes sense....which I can add to, indented under the block references. Hope that helps. I love it!

That's it? Come on man a 5 min video equating a ppv setup in roam compared to the entire ppv setup in Notion is silly. And honestly this was clickbait. Be honest with your viewers. For ppl watching this, check out the entire setup in Notion before evaluating whether the entire setup can be done in other platforms.

I agree! I get why people would be skeptical about information surfacing in Roam when you need it, but if you are focused on your goals and project pipelines, the system will automatically support you in a way that, say, Notion cannot. If you’re just reading and writing with no purpose or direction, then no system is likely to help you.
