The 339, they actually have it in the Stratosphere Las Vegas.
That's an amazing view!
How thrilling. There's some great steamers out there... huge, like the Big Boy, but to me, nothing beats a geared loco with all the bits exposed and rattling around. Thanks, gwr, for the video. So, your fb 'handle' is for the 0-4-2T loco, such as 'the Brixham Whippet' or 'the Tivvy Bumper' - perhaps fitted as an autocoach?
Now that whistle brings me back to my childhood. I'm waiting to ride on it this year hopefully
Heritage acres?
Bet you loved that
Beautiful.
4:39 mark: In Drew Harbour (Quadra Island), you can see the world's largest single-mast sailing yacht, the "Mirabella V." Thanks for this video, I enjoyed following along with Google Maps.
great loco.
Would love to see another video of this motor room, but in wide angle.
Beautiful loco I'm trying to find the drawings for one in 7 1/4
Should have filmed this in landscape mode.
Why does the motor sound so weird when leveling! (Thanks for the explanation!)
One of those traction machines might have been powered by a DC Drive instead of an MG Set, which creates harmonics in the field/armature/often the bearings. Unlike with the MG set which cuts out when the leveling field cuts in "the chock" from the DC Drive can cause these noises, when the elevator is leveling.
@@TheTheo58 I know it is a scr drive. Thanks for explaining that noise. If I ever visit the cn tower I will try to plan a tour of the mechanical in advance.
Lovely loco! Is it standard anthracite you are using ?
Nice loco! What coal are you using?
Good video and lovely engine. What coal are you using ?
What's the control type? Otis UCL? AUL? Or has it been moded?
Lovely little truck. I want one!
Nice! Very nice!
Wonderful locomotive, so happy to see it. LALS member Johnny
Running a treat! Nice day for an outing, too!! How is the new injector?? Cheers, Dougal
Thanks Dougal. Its starting to bed in nicely. The injector is fantastic, will pick up at 50 all the way up till the safeties lift at 150. Great fun!
Goes nicely, a bit faster than my 2" overtype !
Yes it does shift alone nicely. It was only in 1st and 2nd gears, never made into the big wheel. How is the Fowler?
Looked to be running good ...dAve
Thanks Dave
Lookin' good, chum! How goes it with the Burrell?
Thanks chum! The Burrell is coming on well. The tender is nearly done.
Should wake all the birds up ..cough cough
I am sure I sent all the wildlife running....
Ticking over nicely!
Great footage, Mark. Looks superb from the footplate!
hi there I would love to come and help looking for a job
This machine room is well designed with safety, with the steel cages around the machines. Which is probably the same for the over speed govenor pulley.
Very uncommon practice.
Yes and also useless and annoying to engineers. The motor room must be locked soooo...
Watching it climb that grade never gets old, thanks for all your great posts, Mark! I have some youtube of the Fall meet coming up very soon!! Cheers, Dougal
Very nicely done!
Super awesome!! Got a nice little bark to it!
Awesome!
VVDC?
Can you do more videos whit the alice?
Did you go over to the 'hortons? Let me know of you want a 2nd engine (or a 2nd man) around. 160 km from here...and yes, I have thought about it...
A great experience
Nice bit of engineering there
Thanks David. BTW great work on your channel
Thanks ...Dave
This technology was from the early 1970's. Suspect the systems have been restored since then during restoration.
Sorry

It's a beautiful locomotive. Did you build this model? Are the casting and plans from Reeves. The reason I ask is I'm thinking of a locomotive to build and I have a boiler book by Alec Farmer in which the Torquay Manor boiler is mentioned.
Hi, is this a Ruston Proctor or Ruston Horsby? Also what weight and NHP? My uncle has what is believed to be the only 10 ton 5nhp Ruston Proctor overhead slide valve double crank compound roller in the UK so would be interested to know more about this one.
The engine is dirty because...well, that's the way it is. The trailer is tired, and needs replacing. I have a set of wheels for the replacement, but haven't pulled my thumb out to build it. I know how big I want the trailer, I know what I want to build it out of, and I still haven't done anything about building it. The advice I have is not to use wheelbarrow wheels on a riding trailer. They might be "rated" at 600 lb each, but if you put a ton in that trailer, the tires are flat like pancakes.
Good video, Mark! It's a shame the engine isn't kept in better condition, though it seems to go alright.
Nice little machine or should I say Road Roller ..Dave
want O_O
Hello I am picking up were I left off (20 yrs ago) !! Building a 7 1/4 Don hunslet (5" plus 50%) using Elidir cylinder set. How did you get on setting and re-packing the balanced valves, were they stuck?
do you still have the drawings for this engine.
Hi Patrick, You can still get drawings from reeves 2000. www.ajreeves.com
Great! Very impressive machinery. How many kilowatts/horsepower does one of these gearless machines have, and at which DC voltage do they operate?
These gear less DC traction machines have an MG set which changes AC to DC (motor generator) the DC voltage at the communicator could be upwards of 480V DC. The HP rating is probably over 100 +.
