Managed to get hold of this Starry Night Black edition, bought it through a friend in Taiwan via www.htc.com/tw for TWD11,990 or about USD430. Hello Sir, Is this a good phone ! I want to buy for regular use, not gaming. Also sir, how is the bettery life, performance wise ! Just social media and multiple applications use. Guide me Sir, of this phone is good . My current phone's screen got damaged. So need to buy a phone as soon as possible.
So out of nowhere comes a bizzare phone from a long dead brand and your chosen point of comparison is... another one of the same brand? I don't hate htc, I used to love having an htc phone at some point in the past, but they have undeniably faded into obscurity relative to their past market share, it is extremely useless to use an htc phone as a point of comparison for most users.
It's a HTC interest channel, comparing past & present phone, and what improvements were made. HTC is not dead yet, just focusing in developing markets and away from limelight. BTW, new flagship is being tested now, U23 Pro. Not much details yet.
Is it a 3 card slot or 2 slot phone
It can house 2 SIM or 1 SIM + 1 SD

Wow, sorry really can't recall on camera wise. Probably should use specs to decide. But speakers? U21 is single speaker while M7 is dual if I recall. I think M7 should be better.

The only thing that's far better is the camera, but only at daytime and not when used for video recording. The rest of it is quite disappointing compared to the D21P.

What a dissapointment from a company that once was the OG of android phones. Im a HTC user for 10-12years and i can say i loved all the phones i had, my currently U12+ just died after 4 years of usage and i think it was the last good model made by HTC. Sadly im going to change the company after a decade of using only HTC, hope tho they gonna come soon with a new flagship to bring them back in business.

The sim card tray is actually a pull-out tray that does not require a sim ejection tool. Very similar to Sony's Xperia line
Yes I know. I can't pull out, hence the disastrous use of tools to force it out, no matter how hard I tried. But Xperia 1 IV uses pin for the SIM tray.
@@DellBoy81 No. The xperia 1iv also does not use the sim eject pin, is pulled out through inserting your fingernail through the notch
@@chookwangzhee1889 Thanks, saw one video and thought the pin hole beside the phone. In any case, the pull out from Sony looks different. After using your finger to pull, the opening becomes sort of a flap. But not HTC. I tried again last night on Desire 22. Its like a CD slot with a groove for your fingernail. Does not loosen into a flap like what I saw in Sony. The cards got stuck in HTC D22 Pro was very disappointing.
@@chookwangzhee1889 Just got Xperia 1 iv. Confirmed that the pull-out tray in Sony is way way better & easier. Glad it didn't get stuck.
Im using HTC U11 and HTC U12+ now, and I have tried Desire 21 Pro......I'm totally disappointed, I miss the U series
Can't compare with the U series. It's flagship standard. But yeah, D22P is disappointing.

Thank you for the review! Also, 16:57 I agree with you, I really miss the good old HTC that we know and love. I hope that we can see HTC be back making flagship phones someday honestly, also the design of desire 22 pro is kinda disappointing compared to desire 21 pro. At least there is a hope for their 2023 phone/s coming according to them!

Thank you so so much for this review! 😊 The FIRST one! 😊 I am so disappointed too 😔 The 21was better than the 22. It's like HTC made no effort 😔 I agree with you that they are taking their fans for granted 😔 After years of loyalty I think I will either get the 21 (I have a HTC One M7 since 2014!) Or get a Sony. If I did not have 21, I might not even noticed the difference in camera quality although resolution is better. The speakers was the deal breaker for me. So poor. Although 22 came with nice added features, its the lack of effort that really pissed me off. Can you imagine my anger when I almost couldn't take out the cards. It was so painful to damage the case :( I'm getting Sony Xperia IV next. After using HTC for so many years, can't deny the build quality is really good. But it's time to get a more feature rich flagship for once & enjoy the overkill haha. Not ditching HTC yet. Let's see what they can come up with next.
@@DellBoy81 Bro you and me think the same! I'm so mad at HTC too! Lol 😁 Yeah it killed me when I saw the damage of the SIM card tray. What is wrong with HTC man! 😠 Haha you're getting a Sony too! Lol I want a phone that not everyone has. That's why I refuse to get Samsung or the iPhone. That's the thing I liked about HTC that they made great phones but not everyone had them. Sony for me is a bit like that. I'm not giving up on HTC either! They will always be in my heart! xxx

@@asiffarooqui6789 There's quite a lot of reviews done for xperia iv already haha. Thats why I decided to get it. One issue is overheating while using the videoing I thin. Hope they hv solved it with software updates.

Its now released in Europe. Do google HTC Europe. I believe the language is supported.
The specs of this phone are not great for its price . Xiaomi phone under 200usd have better specs lol

Nice unboxing! Also can't wait for the review. BTW is there anyway to get the Desire 22 Pro outside the supported countries? Since I want to upgrade from my Desire 12+ (I live in Saudi Arabia where HTC rarely releases phones there nowadays sadly)
It's now released in Europe, Japan & Taiwan. Have a look at HTC's websites. I'm sure there will be resellers on selling portals soon! Good luck!

I think D21 at its price much cheaper, its a worthy buy. Other than a lesser spec selfie cam, slightly slower CPU, 128GB vs 256GB internal memory, the rest are almost the same. Unless you need more space and multi-task a little more, D21 looks like a better value phone between the 2. And its slight lighter too. Of course, you can consider other brands since both D21 & U20 are already more than a year old models.
and not forgetting a better cam app & better sound imo

Don't think it can be fairly compared though against the M7 legend. But HTC does a good job with the sound on D21P.

Would of been nice to hear the audio recording playback from the video file as well, instead of just the phone speaker. I have an old htc u11 and I'm trying to find if the audio recorded quality is still as great with the htc desire..

Its not the same as before, the one m7 and m8 were the best and still look really good up to date
I agree too. Those were the good days. I think the downhill started with M9 overheating issue, although M10 was still a great phone nonetheless. Love the alu body, still do.
So true. The M7 is still the most beautiful phone ever made. The design is still stunning. I still use it as my phone. Yes in other ways its outdated but design wise nothing touches it or comes close. So sad HTC have lost their way. I really hope they come out with something amazing but now that they're part of Google and some key people left the firm, I doubt those days will return. It's just generic and bland phones they produce. I still love you HTC.
