"Originalism?" Show me where the Constitution gives any rights to corporations? The right-wing Supremes have been on their way to granting full citizenship rights to corporations for 30 yrs. Citizens United was just a big step on a trajectory that leads to granting them the right to vote....balance out all those undesirable votes they see coming as the country moves left. This effort was overtaken by the fundamentalist Catholic theocracy movement every one of those Republican appointees belongs to. It's all a fraud--ignoring the 1st Amendment's separation of church and state, ignoring their own supposed beliefs in Originalism to come to wholly political decisions. If they want to overturn something created by the Courts, they tout democracy and say it's a matter for the legislature. If it's an act of Congress, they come to another point to overturn it...don't you know we don't have racism any more? We don't need no Voting Rights Act. When it's the right to privacy and they want to take away abortion rights because their religious sensibilities want women barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen, they say it's states rights. But being that they were chosen NOT for their great minds, but rather for their small-minded religious beliefs and political ambitions, their reasoning is obvious to most everyone who sees it. They fool no one. And their approval ratings sit at the levels sustained by fellow fundamentalist Catholics (Fewer than 18% of Americans are any kind of Catholic at any time in their lives. And only a portion of these share fundamentalist views. Some Evangelicals support them, not knowing Protestants have been excluded from the Catholic takeover of the Supreme Court. The media was complicit in this effort, btw. Even MSNBC cancels Lawrence Tribe, going to commercials in the middle of a sentence when he tried to inform people what was going on...when they returned to Last Word With Lawrence O'Donnell, Tribe was gone, new subject. He returned to promote his "pet project" the following week. Paying him off for what they did, but shutting him up! And the Supreme Court continues on its way to "Making this a Christian (Catholics in charge, promising to protect Protestants...so long as they stay in their churches...5 male Justices, all members of Opus Dei.) Country Again." Which they know it never was but if people are stupid enough to buy the line, they will feed it to them. Like any single-minded political autocrat, they will will say and do anything to amass power. Weaken others.

A big difference between then and now is that boomers could not vote yet in 1968. The voting age was 21. You had to be born by 1947 to vote in 1968. The lowered the voting age to 18 by 1972. But Nixon was on to his dirty tricks by 1972, "Moral Majority," and war on anyone young.

Are we looking at 1968 again, for good and ill?
