    This wreath is my favorite of every wreath I have seen. I love the colors. I was going to quit because it was too expensive but now I figured I can make one for $5. get the material from dollar tree. 1.25 each roll of material. Make a wreath base with a coat hanger.

    What side of the fabric goes in first? Printed or the back side?

    • @FoxLakeLibrary
      @FoxLakeLibrary Год назад

      Hello - Thank you so much for reaching out. For this project I wrapped the back side of the fabric around the screwdriver and pushed it in. That way the front side of the fabric was facing out, creating almost a flower bud shape. I hope this helps you.

    I'm using a foam ring that is thinner than any I've ever used before, and it is not flat on the back. But I have a question, doing this as a wedding gift so there's going to be a lot put into it, but I can't start it until I can get an answer to a question that no one has been able to answer me. If you have to work with one sided cloth patterns. Do you put the colored side in face down on the wreath so you can see the outsides or do you put it, the dull/back side in first? I'm wondering if I put the colored side in first you'll only see the back side when you're looking at it so by putting the back side in first everything is next to it so when you look at it you're looking at the pattern not the back of your square. ??? I hope that makes sense and I hope you can give me an answer! I absolutely love your wreath and tutorial, it is very hard to find anyone that makes these anymore. It was so many years ago but I thought I was taught to put it colored side down because your sides will be covered and when you look at it you'll see color. I need to make this really fast. But that's the one question I'm stuck on. PLEASE HELP! Please HELP!!

    Would this be good for outdoor hanging on my door? It’s a door without a storm door. No other door between the wreath. Love it. Is there a spray I can put in it. For rain and the sun? Don’t want it to be all wet and color fading. Or is there a different material that works better for outdoors.

    • @FoxLakeLibrary
      @FoxLakeLibrary 2 года назад

      Hello - This wreath does work better as an inside decoration. There are fabrics designed specifically for outdoors and can be found at most fabric stores. You may also want to consider a foam wreath form rather than the straw one. The straw can suffer ill effects from moisture when left outside.

    I've been making these for years. I taught my granddaughter how to make them. I use the foam wreath form, punch the holes all around, put glue in whole as we insert squares. The hardest part of this is the cutting of the squares. Sadly, because of my arthritis, I gave it up. My favorite one is the fall wreath. Great job!

    • @D.RED420

      I'm making a wedding gift, and I've done this before but it was a while ago and the only foam rings I could get are fairly thin so I might go at it with a crochet needle instead of a blunt pencil. My wreaths are not flat on the back and they're not as thick as the one I previously made which I was able to do the entire thing. When you do a foam wreath ring do you do the entire surrounding or am I looking at a project that's going to fall apart??

    • @yoliemclaughlin9492
      @yoliemclaughlin9492 Год назад

      @@D.RED420 I don't use the foam wreath form that is flat on the back. What I do is use a Phillips' screwdriver (the small one) and punch the holes gently on form. Then, when I've completed 5 rows, I put glue inside 5 holes and insert fabric squares gently and continue as I go along. After all squares in, I use glitter spray (do it outdoors) and leave overnight. Next day, wreath is nice and stiff. Not sure if this makes sense.

    I have a lot of pre-cut fabric squares originally intended for quilting and they would work great for a project like this. If anyone is interested, the pre-cut squares can be purchased on Amazon. I do wonder how well this would hold up outside in the Texas humidity though. Maybe the finished wreath could be sprayed with liquid fabric starch? Has anyone tried this?

    • @NJgrandma
      @NJgrandma Год назад

      Thank you! I didn’t realize Amazon sold fabric squares! Sorry, I can’t help with the “starch” idea, though. I’ve never made one of these wreaths. I hope you found your answer. ❤ 0:08

    I'm thinking you could put a dab on hot glue on the fabric to make it stay in better. I have an old red corderoy coat I want to create something for a keepsake and this looks like a good idea for it. I could hang it at Christmas and valentines time.

    • @D.RED420
      @D.RED420 Год назад

      Just remember that Elmer's glue or fabric to foam glue is your best resort!! Unless you're adding finishing touches, a glue gun will melt your foam ring. Hope that's helpful.

    • @PK-bh1ww
      @PK-bh1ww Год назад

      @@D.RED420 yes I know... But this is NOT a "FOAM" wreath. It's a "straw" wreath. So hot glue will stick better than Elmers. Hope thats helpful for you. :-)

      Hello Lynne Robeck - For the 10 inch wreath form, we used 2 - 2 1/2 yards of fabric for the total wreath. You can divide the 2 - 2/12 yards between how ever many colors you wish to put in. We hope this answers your question. Thank you, Fox Lake District Library
