Glad to see the video helps. My experience is that optically A2 and A3 are identical. For the rest, there are trade-offs. E.g. Difference of screen size, but he biggest difference is battery (A3 has a battery which last really long and can withstand low temperatures, contrary to that of A2).

I record the GPS data using watch or phone (using yamap or yamareco, or any GPS tracker). For videos, to make the graphs, maps etc, I use a program that I have written myself.

Possibly. Could be tested. Less gain could mean less noise but also less brightness, so not so sure it would come nice. iso was not controlled in this test. It was full Auto, only testing the EIS priority feature. BTW, It looks like iso cannot be controlled manually in normal mode (not pro mode), and EIS priority needs top be in normal mode (not pro mode). So discussing iso effect while being in EIS priority mode may be irrelevant.

Thanks. Yes, Horizon Balancing was on on both cameras. To understand the difference, please read the video description. ISO was different. Darker image comes from a higher frame rate. In part 2 (another video), I tested them with exactly the same conditions, and the difference is very small if any.

@yaman-python, maybe you could try putting both A2 and A3 on their different stabilisations (rocksteady and steady modes) and most importantly - wide and dewarped versions with any face, could be even a toy. I bet my money that both will look identically blurry if put on steady/horizon balancing. And both will look similarly sharp enough if the stabilisation is OFF. Maybe you will be the guy who who finally cracked the code on this A2 and A3 dramma saga ! 😃

Hi. Thanks for your opinion and suggestions. Yes, the big crop means it is not true 4K and loss of resolution. For the "focus issue", all I can say is I do not experience it. Now it does not mean that some other did. In fact, from what I saw in DJI forum, it looks like DJI has acknowledged that some cameras have been released with "bad camera parameters" and they are replacing/repairing them. Of course, given the drama, there may be some people who think their copy is bad when it is not in fact. I will consider your test suggestions, even though I had decided to move on. Will see if I do it ~

Hi Mike: You are 100% correct, the proof is in the amount of users that returned their cameras to DJI only to receive a "NEW" one, that in a few instances has an older Manufacture date than the one they sent to DJI and in addition, if these were "new or fixed" cameras as they call them, they are all shipped with the OLD FW and when they start to use their camer they all have to update to the New FW. You are correct after the FW upgrade that DJI posted I did not sent my camera to DJI to be replaced as I was very satisfied with the results, but this is a software issue and not hardware issue and I expect for DJI to improve on the issue in the short future. To my knowledge, EIS priority is only available in basic mode. What it does is to change the frame rate so I suppose DJI thinks if you go pro, then you can also ajust the frame rate to your liking... But I admit it is not convenient, particularly if one want to get quick shots without having to prepare pro settings.

@@kllaskas810 lol So just as an example, if the shutter speed is set to 1 s by the cam, then the frame rate can be 60 fps, because they are independent right?

@@Hiking-guide-and-scenery nobody does 1 s shutter speed and 60 fps. 1 s is for tripod shots and light trails. then you dont need image stabilization and high frame rate. 30 fps would be enough

@@kllaskas810 1 s shutter speed was used just a counter example to your claim. A more realistic example would be something closer to 30fps, but I have no time to for that at t he moment.

Thanks! No, I did not have OA3 at that time. Pics and still/zoom videos are sony RX100m7. Action 2 was used until ~ 7:00, when an SD card malfunction occurred and I then used Pocket 2 for the rest. I also used Pocket 2 at the beginning in low light scenes. What happened with Action2 is that I had used it the previous day and almost filled up the internal storage. Then that day when it was full, I had to switch to SD card and attach the power module. But after 2 shots the unit stopped recognizing the SD card. No sure what happened. I left a comment in DJI forum about it in A2 forum.

@@Hiking-guide-and-scenery I guess it's a good thing that you had backup cameras on you. The whole video looks amazing! I have a Pocket 2, myself. It's still one of the best cameras.

No, this was before. Firmwares are given in video description. From my investigations, I found my copy of OA3 does not suffer from the focus problem. It is not all cameras that are impacted. On my OA3, the new firmware just increases marginally the overall sharpness (something that could be done in post anyway).

Hi, glad it is useful. Well, technically, there is no "best" settings, as it would depend on light level. Actually the auto mode is supposed to take care of this. As written in the video description, the higher the frame rate the better the EIS will work, but too high a frame rate will make the video too dark... So there is no "best" answer to your question. Maybe just test. If it is flickering, then try the EIS priority and see. My experience is that Action 3 has a quite good EIS in dark situations. Hope it helps~

For flickering, check your country main/power line is PAL or NTSC, if PAL, go to Exposure setting, choose Manual, then set the shutter speed to 1/50. If NTSC set to 1/60 for the shutter speed. This will resolve your flickering problem.

Also basically for EIS to work well, the shutter speed must be 1/200 or less. At lower shutter speed e.g. 1/60, the EIS does work but is jittering.

Hi, thanks for the comment. Well, for me, the main concern was this focusing question. And it does not seem to be a problem for my units. Most people reporting that problem had soft footage in general, not only for faces. If the focus is different on a face, it would maybe mean a kind of face beauty filter applied. I do not show my face in any video, and have no interest in vlogging. But I will see what I can do with a face... The cam may not be able to distinguish a real face from a picture... So I may try that. but I cannot give any timeframe for such test.

I just tried a quick test of pic and video of me in bright sunlight. I saw no difference in details between A2 and OA3. and it looks OK. Anyway, if the problem is only for faces, I suppose it would be a software issue and could be easily taken care of by DJI.

See Video Description for what EIS priority mode is. To enable it, in video mode, touch the icon on the right/center of the display. You will have 2 icons, up is fov (field of view) and down is EIS priority mode. You have to be in "basic mode", not in "pro" mode. In pro mode EIS priority mode does not show up.

Hi, thanks for pointing out the absence of commentary. I will add some in the video description. Priority ON takes more frames per second to make EIS work better so the result is better stability but lower brightness. The effect is not felt much when the light is enough, like in the middle of the video, or when panning. But at the end when it is quite dark, priority ON reduces the shakes at the cost of less brightness. Also, when there are strong highlights, like at the beginning and at the end, the shakes when priority is OFF are clearly visible.

@@Hiking-guide-and-scenery It's actually unclear when you select it if is on or off they seem to have made it quite confusing. But if it goes rather darker that seems to be the option with less shake problems in low light. I think! Note you don't see this setting in Pro mode but if you change it in basic mode I think it affects Pro mode too

@@4-video It is on when written "Enable" and off when written "off". I explain a few things in the video description. Pro mode: Yes, I noticed it too that it was absent in pro mode. I suppose that if you go "pro" then they think you can select the frame rate etc yourself to get your desired result. It is just one of these choices dji had to make I suppose. There are other odd things of the same sort in the menu behavior (e.g. switching between fov/stabilization modes).
