Renzo came to the dojo I used to train at in Fall River MA with sensei Don Banville for a seminar. There were maybe only 10 other people. It was around the time he was in pride fighting Sakuraba. He was the nicest guy with the craziest stories and always smiling, same as always. And I still remember a couple of the moves he showed us. Wish I still had the photo
Renzo is the one Gracie that seems real. The rest are such chest pounders. I’m not knocking their skills… but they seem to ask for special rules and treatment a great deal… weird.
Probably the Gracie with the least amount of ego. When Roger submitted Buchecha, Renzo was the only one that went to him while everyone else ran to Roger to lift him up. Classy.
This why jiu jitsu is different from other martial arts. Really Advanced belts roll with lesser belts. No ego. Grand Masters and masters of other traditional arts almost never go live with their students.
So damn cute. Children are such a great blessing. I just really love the amazing job the Brazilian Jujutsu teachers have done with making children and women so happy and comfortable training in the art.
Hahahaha I love master Renzo! He's amazing with everyone but it's always amazing to see how good he is with children, maybe because he's still a child at heart hahahahaha.... Best of the best! God bless you master Renzo!

Several years ago Charles Gracie got promoted to a Red Belt and it was like a who's who of Gracie's that showed up. Renzo, Rickson, Ralph, Clark, Rigan and Jean Jacques, as well as I think two of the first generation guys (Helio and Carlos' brothers). Maybe the only big name that couldn't make it was Royce. It was kind of surreal. Renzo is exactly like he appears in this video, kind, playful, funny, seemingly no ego.
I do t care what people say all these Gracie’s are class acts in my book. They’ve had a lot to prove and they did. I’m almost 60 and wished I practiced jujitsu when I was younger , but I’m going to start learning and have this for my last push in life.
Perhaps by pushing and being harsh a teacher might make some students better competitors (or not), but by being how Renzo is here, a master makes all their students LOVE Jiu Jitsu. That's a real master.

Man the difference between a black and brown belt is incredible, literally let him escape and take positions and still sub him whenever he wanted.
