The reacion between nitrogen monoxide and oxygen.
Просмотров 49Месяц назад
Watch the addition of oxygen to nitrogen monoxide having no effect position of the barrel in a syringe. And then something remarkable happens as the nitrogen dioxide dimerizes is into dinitrogen tetroxide
The nitrogen dioxide/dinitrogen tetroxide dynamic equilibrium system
Просмотров 65Месяц назад
Chemical equilibrium is important but a very difficult concept to study and teach. This video shows a new way of making the gas in plastic syringes along with evidence of the influence of pressure and temperature on the system.
The Microelectrolysis of Sodium Chloride solution
Просмотров 1152 месяца назад
This cell uses a small piece of mineral wool to act as a diaphragm which stops the hydroxide ions formed at the cathode from travelling to the anode where they would react with chorine gas and stop it being produced. Now a sodium-ion selective membrane is used but the effect is similar.
Electrolysis and explosion between hydrogen and oxygen
Просмотров 2642 месяца назад
Using paper clips as electrodes, this video shows the electrolysis of water, containing sodium sulfate. in the bulb of a pipette. The liquid is coloured with a smidgeon of methyl red. hydrogen and oxygen is produced. A spark causes the explosion. This is a temporary video as the equipment is improved for general use. The remarkable yellow flash lasting as little as 1/250th of a second is beauti...
The Explosive Reaction between Hydrogen and Oxygen: Eudiometry
Просмотров 1172 месяца назад
Hydrogen oxygen explosions in a plastic pipette. A microscale eudiometer. Eudiometers were used in the 19th century to establish the formulas of gas molecules.
The reaction between sodium and chlorine
Просмотров 1443 месяца назад
Making the syringe of chlorine should be carried out in a fume cupboard. The reaction can be carried out in a well-ventilated room as most of the chlorine is removed by the reaction. Chlorine affects the rubber seals in syringes so should be used as quickly as possible after collection. Thank you to Dr Michael Bauer in Gernany for permission to use the idea.

Electrolysis of molten sodium chloride
Просмотров 4014 месяца назад
This might be a first for many chemists because in 60 years of chemistry, I have never seen this but with modern electrical equipment (LED) improvisation and experience of the power of microscale techniques it seems to work. The sodium form is air oxidised so no sparks when added to water but the evidence is there.
Microscale chemistry triumphs

This was produced for the RSC when I won the RSC Prize ce in 2021. You will notice that the "wows" are different from the bangs flashes and smells (which can still be done) but you can som really beautiful presentations..

Detecting carbon dioxide and water when heating hydrocarbons and wood
Просмотров 956 месяцев назад
The old rather rigid and underwhelming version using glass equipment whereby carbon dioxide and water are detected from burning wood and hydrocarbons is shown. Using syringes instead, the demo is now available for students to do and is relevant to curriculums highlighting climate change and sustainability.
Electrolysis of copper sulfate with fibre electrodes
Просмотров 817 месяцев назад
Textbooks say oxygen is given off at the positive electrode, but the operating voltage has to increase to observe this. This is using a new design in electrolytic cells. To understand electrolysis, students should be familiar with solvated ions. The crucial inter-particle attraction is dipole-ion attraction. WE know this as the solvation of ions. it is not commonly taught but just as important ...
Using the CLEAPSS electric heater
Просмотров 617 месяцев назад
The heater is easily made and you find the method on ruclips.net/video/UCzOD7EAXlk/видео.html CLEAPSS subscribers can read about it on GL254 Make-it guide - microscale distillation apparatus. This opens up microscale organic chemistry to me. Do I enter the portal?

The Effect of Temperature on the N2O4 and NO2 equilibrium
Wow
How am I supposed to describe this.
A chemist says "A redox reaction", " a displacement reaction". The interested observer says " Wow, that is beautiful" The student says "Am I supposed to know that for the exam?"
eureka!
You just proved chemical bonds are electro magnetic
Thank you for that. A rather good statement which I shall remember to use. This demonstration is a micro wow for me .

Which chemecal radtion for throw the neddle ?anti iron .it is possible?pls answer me..
Not sure I understand. Try using Google translate Indian(?) to help you
@@bobworley7974 which chemecals radiation repulson the iron pins to some inches long?
Sorry for not replying earlier. The electrodes are carbon fibre (2mm diameter) and the solution is 1M sodium sulfate solution with universal indicator added (any indicator will work) . The magnet underneath is a neodymium magnet.
@@bobworley7974what is anti iron chemecals.
What is Electromagnetic oil
what's size copper will be? nanoparticles or sponge like a classic cuSO4 electrolysis?
Spongy and not nanoparticles, I did this in ammonia so I could see the intense blue colour of the copper ions (in the form of the copper/ammonia complex). The colour was too faint with copper sulfate in water.
@@bobworley7974 any suggestion producing np copper that can stick like mirror with homebrew setup?
@@dogodogo5891 No sorry.
What is EMT oil
I do not understand where EMT oil comes from on the video
Bread 👍
What amounts did you use for this?
Cool
Does this make water drinkable though...
Which chemical can make bubbles into the water
I think it must be hydrogen and the presence of iron on the zinc surface. It is acting as a catalyst.
Cool

I was just reading MOT and this came in my recommendations.
What is MOT?
Too bad nobody can explain how magnets work.

Hi bob,i need one practical experiment, can u give me missed call from watup to my no08247664615
Wow
I think paramagnetic oxygen can be normally found because they are exceptionally paramagnetic, right? Please tell me if I am wrong. Please.
Yes, quite correct, there are 2 unpaired electrons. in the bonding between oxygen atoms (it is using molecular orbital theory). However, the effect is usually shown with liquid oxygen and strong electromagnets neither of which I have in a school laboratory. Thank you for your interest.
@@bobworley7974 will this work : if I put oxygen under thin water layer and make a bubble. (no use of liquid O). Please. And sorry for disturbing . 😅
@@kapilmisre7626 The bubble just rise to the surface I suspect. My bubble mixture is 10 parts liquid detergent, 85 parts distilled/reionised water and 5 parts propane-1,2,3-triol (glycerol). The soap film keeps the oxygen confined.
@@bobworley7974 thanks for the knowledge. 😊I appreciate.
What i just see eace of shit !
You need to re-upload without the audio - love it though 🤓
How strong are those magnets?
Forgive my late reply. I have only just seen this. I used a Neodymium magnet, bought from suppliers. They are stronger than the normal iron magnets.
@@bobworley7974 Thanks.
And what is this product?
Thanks extremely handy. Will share content with my buddies.

Hello sir Me and Professor Beacroft talked and sent a link to this RUclips channel I will subscribe and I hope you will post more cool chemistry videos and explanations -Kevin Ebert
This seems interesting but there's not quite enough information for me to tell what's being demonstrated. Is the permanganate being used as a dye to show the water movement, or is there some effect on the permanganate or caused by it that's being demonstrated? What would happen if there was no magnet or it was flipped?
Cool
