    When leaving your camper to do stuff, you can fold your step up and lock it to prevent anyone from being able to open the door. It is a great way to secure it and keep people deterred. Just don't forget your key.

    Our first outing last fall we had 40 mph winds one night. That was a real adventure. My 7 year old granddaughter slept through the whole thing. Every trip is different. That’s what makes it special. Depending on where and when you camp the temperature can vary dramatically. Pop up camping is a little different. You don’t completely fit in with the tent campers or the RVers. Any type of camping requires some physical activity so if you are the type to just arrive at a vacation destination and throw down your luggage then camping isn’t for you.

    We tent camped for 18 years with kids. The pop up is an easy step up from tent camping. As someone else mentioned, getting up off the ground gets harder with age. 😉 We bought a new pop up, but it was 1/2 price because it was the previous year's model. We can pull it with our 12+ year old Outback. The bunks are smaller than a full-size bed, but we made a bed extension and now have a bed that's larger than a queen. We've been figuring out how to make our own repairs. It has AC and heat, so we took it to southern IN last week for the eclipse. We've had it out in mid-October in IL. We've been through 100+ temps in MO and 60 mph winds in heavy thunderstorms. I don't necessarily recommend those experiences, but the pop up held through all of it. 😎

    Just tuned in. Love it. I’m 62 and been camping my whole life. Dad worked for the Boy Scouts for a living. Started out as camp director back in the 60’s, so I started out camping in the play pen. LoL 😅. Anyhoot, got a little old for the tent and sleeping on the ground, so me and my girlfriend bought a 92 Coleman Newport popup and just added a couple hundred watts of solar power for some off grid camping. Hoping to do an out west adventure from the Philadelphia area base camp. Neither of us have been out west and figured what a way to do this adventure. We just did our first dry run down At Cunningham Falls State park MD and had a blast. Just started watching your videos and some of the great outdoor folks you mentioned. Great vid, Thanks for taking the time to explain your thought process of a major purchase, such as a camper. I would add that if said camper does not have a title, I would not consider purchasing that unit. Also that understanding repairs on a Popup are an ongoing process, even if it is new. Great idea, of getting both yourself & spouse involved in the process of researching, and purchasing a camper. We have been married 47 years, if she is not happy, well I know I am not going to be happy either. lol We see all of our camping excursions as a learning experience. When capturing video always hold the camera horizontal. Every TV screen, monitor screen, computer screen, movie theater screen, are orientated horizontally. Videos where the camera is vertical the left one-third, and right one-third of the screen is cut off, the video is tall and narrow thus appears as a stick video, tall and narrow. It is similar to looking through a tight keyhole or wearing horse blinders. You would not enjoy watching your TV nor going to a movie theater where you were required to watch the movie with the left one-third and right one-third cut off. Turn off the background music. It is beyond me why RUclips content creators think playing background music over their voice is somehow enhancing their videos, it is not, it is distracting. We came to hear you, not to fight background music which quickly becomes extremely annoying and intrusive. It looks like you are using your battery box on the tongue for storage. (Maybe I am confused.) Does the four prong hookup on your car run the necessary driving lights on the back of the camper without going through a “car”battery on the camper tongue or is yours stored somewhere else? I know this sounds like a crazy question but if I can go to a campsite with electric and or just use ice and little batteries to run a fan, that would make life even simpler. As you can tell, I have no clue about electric.

    • @Popupinrealife87
      @Popupinrealife87 Год назад

      Great question. The 4 prong hook up when the car is running powers the taillights and blinkers on the pop up when traveling without using the battery. The battery is mainly used for lights in the pop up and a fan if you have a propane heater in your pop up which I don’t. Outlets cannot be powered by your battery. That’s why I got ride of my battery because there wasn’t much use for it and now just use the box for storage.
