The Vintage Composer

Добавлен 17 мар 2019
Be a guest of The Vintage Composer and join in a journey through baseball trading card history!
We are looking to build & complete master sets of Topps baseball cards starting with 1954. These videos give insight to each of the annual issues, explain errors and variations, subsets, rookies, and tell the personal stories as to their acquisition. A few are still in need of minor upgrades, so future videos will chart each year’s progress until they are one hundred percent finished!
Here we will also highlight and examine those individuals and moments of the game that made us fans for life. Other content will include cards in the personal collection, milestones, specific dates in history, trivia, nicknames, and in-depth looks at other sports collectibles.
If you enjoy the sports hobby with all it's specialties like autographs, memorabilia, TTMs, magazines, and of (course) cards - then you've found the right place.

Nice 67 additions! Good luck hitting those checklist at the National!
Thanks Tim, you know I'm going to try my best!
I am an ASU alum. Monday makes me proud to be an American. Sadly US Army installations across the nation are briefing personnel that peaceful prolife protesters are terrorists. It is the truth, google it. Also sad is that ASU has become a communist marxist university. Among many things was the art department sponsoring a George Floyd art show and tribute that had several pieces of work depicting Floyd as Jesus Christ. Not cool. That is sacrilegious. It is their 1 Amendment right to produce such filth but be prepared for blowback. God will not be mocked. Christ is King!
Good stuff, and nice juicy burgers!
See you in Cleveland man! Good luck on the hunt! PS- are you building '52B?
Not yet, but I can be easily convinced!
@@thevintagecomposer oooh I may have one of the rare error cards for you then my friend 🤪 See you in Cleveland!
I hope to cross paths with you too.
Sweet cards Mike! Hope to see you in Cleveland!
You definitely will, Jim; I'm looking forward to it!
I will be in attendance as well. Hope to bump into you.
You better, Drew! Best of luck in your searching as well.
Honored to help the 67 set build! Cleveland here we come!!
Could there be a high number of high numbers? This is going to be great!
Excited for you to take a run at the 1966 set. Took me a while to warm up to it, too. Despite the bland design, it has some of the sharpest and richest photography of any vintage set.
Let's call it a 'cautious run' for now. It might be sitting in the wings while the '67s are rounded up!
Good luck at the show! I cant make it this year, but look forward to any follow on videos. Happy collecting!
We'll miss you there, Chuck. I hope to report back with a bunch of completed projects!
Great additions to the 1967 set! Good luck with the 1966 set 😉. Enjoy the National.
Oh, you're going to be an enabler, huh? Thanks so much!
@@thevintagecomposer I try my best.
See you next week, my friend!
I can't wait, Scott!
Good stuff. Never seen such a burger b4! Yeah, baseball is not the same anymore. The uniform alone is obnoxious and all the rule changes.
Trust me, the food was way better than the "game".
@@thevintagecomposer I wouldn't doubt it one bit!!
This great Braves team which, of course, made Haddix's achievement all the more amazing finished tied for 1st with LA & lost a play-off (after winning by 8 games each the previous 2 NL titles). Just to not allow both Mathews & Aaron to reach base in 8 combined PAs (over 12 perfect innings) is a worthy accomplishment in itself. Not to mention that Burdette was a very good hitting pitcher.
Good points all around; thanks for checking this out!
Just remember, stuff like pinholes, creased cards and such means they were well loved at the time, probably carried to school and taken everywhere...
Absolutely - these cards have plenty of stories from just being carried around town!
and now adays guys can pitch 2 innings and get credit for a no--hitter.
Or pitch one inning and be considered an All-Star starter!
I feel that this is the most aesthetically pleasing set of the 1960s
thanks for sacrificing your gut for a fun background and dedication to food while dropping facts and pointed opinions. remember the old Home Run Derby TV show? 9 innings of HR battles
Yes I do! ruclips.net/video/2uvhcqcHie8/видео.html&pp=ygUfaG9tZSBydW4gZGVyYnkgdmludGFnZSBjb21wb3Nlcg%3D%3D
So which was more difficult? This or that pizza video?
The bacon started slowing me down, then I was reminded to not touch the fries until last - proteins first, then carbs!
Cool video :)
You were really hungry!! 🤯🤯
Thinking about all those cards in Cleveland gives one quite an appetite!
lol Awesome.
Thanks Drew!
Geez, I gained weight just watching this video. LOL Fun, well done video Mike!
You're not the only one!
It’s 5 in the morning and getting hungry 😂
I know just the fix for you!
Mike , you have a very soothing and professional sounding voice. Love George plimpton! Your videos are great! Thank you
Send me your want list I will sell them cheap to you I just sorted through a bunch
Send me your want list . I just sorted through a bunch. I’ll sell them cheap mr vintage composer.
Pitch counts? I got your pitch counts!
This is the greatest pitching performance in history, and the saddest.
Today, the flag burners would be celebrated.☹️
I see you sneaking in that Don Mossi in there for me. You'll be happy to know that I have both variations of that one. 🤣
Can't get anything past you... You must have multiple examples of all his cards by now!
Your Clemente card is beautiful.
Thank you very much!
great video! woooo at one time you had some 1949 topps x-ray round up, would you still have some?
Infield for three games, I had no idea.
It would have been quite the experiment, but I'm glad they stuck him in right field!
Great video
Thanks Orlando!
Nice indeed. Sweet looking Clemente.
We're getting there, Mike!
Well done!
Thanks Tony; wish me luck in Cleveland!
Beautiful!
I hope the final needs are just as easy, Rick!
Wow - two is very doable!!! Cleveland here you come!!
You'd better believe it, and I can't wait!
Thank goodness this was not about the 1991 Fleer set. Beautiful '58 Topps set.
Just when I forgot about that set... Didn't mean to frighten you!
Very nice Clemente
Thank you very much! He fits in the set nicely.
We saw Haddix a Phillies old timers game back in the early 80’s at the old Vets Stadium. I remember him pitching in that game. At the time I didn’t know how big he was and his history, till they showed the highlights on the large screen .
It was nice of them to pay such a tribute.
Does this rate HOF consideration? Possibly a different category...."Famous Events"?
The HOF wanted his uniform from the game, but it seems to have been stolen!
Lots of rainy days here too lately. I got my binder edge project done.
Awesome! Always feels like a big deal when you can scratch 'to do ' items off the list.
Great thing to do on a rainy day. The only thing I don’t like about storing my cards in binders is that when you get a new card, you may have to move several cards to fit it the proper spot in the collection. I have about three shoeboxes of top loaders if you need any 😂
Unless you keep cards in a snap case until you can fill a full page. Some of those loaders are going to stay with me forever, I'm afraid.
You might like the new BCW Laser-Weld sheets. They sit very flat. They're my go-to now. Used to be die-hard Ultra-Pro. (Never really cared for the BCW sheets, previously. Make sure you try the Laser-Weld version and not the traditional ones.)
I'll look for a few and give them a shot!
Great video Mike! And nothing better to do on a rainy day.
You're right, Dan. The idea that indoors is where I'm stuck makes me buckle down and work!
Nothing better on a rainy day. Happy organizing!
It's a slow process that never seems to end...
Would you mind swinging by and organizing my collection? :o)
I love listening to you work thru what cards go where in accordance with your compulsive guidelines😂. Just makes me smile is all.
I actually do stay true to it; just part of the quirkiness us collectors deal with.
