i'm so glad someone else agrees about the mv for cosmic. i mean i liked cosmic and it was a nice video and all but it was just fucking weird for me to see rv lift a concept wholesale from a movie as if the creative team couldn't be fucked to do their damn jobs. i can understand what they think the connection between the song and the mv is but even in that case why not make a new aesthetic concept unique to red velvet for this comeback instead of just doing discount midsommar. even the saturation on the cameras wasn't different

i'm subbed but i never got this video on my homepage until right now??? anyway. i couldn't pick a favorite song this year because i liked so many of them lol. supernova, whiplash, cosmic, on my bike, dash, born to be, untouchable, gpt, birth, girls' night, ttyl, loop, viola (minus the mv), heya, accendio, retry, steal heart, like we were so spoiled this year!! not a gg but i thought kim jaejoong's glorious day was also pretty good (from his flower garden album), very strongly recommend it if you haven't listened to it. if we're counting japanese releases as well as korean ones then yuta's off the mask (from his depth mini-album) is so good i've had it on repeat since it released. my only hope for 2025 is that aespa continues to crush it, red velvet gets more than the bare minimum (yeri solo??? please???), tvxq gets a comeback, udtt gets a smash hit that propels them out of nugudom, the loossemble girls re-debut (even if they're just solo acts), stayc has an excellent follow-up to gpt that catches the public's attention, and purple kiss doesn't disband. idc if half of these aren't reasonable, i just want to be happy with good music and for my favs to be employed TTuTT

csr performed pretty mob on a music show almost a week before it was actually released, and that performance was broadcast the day the single album dropped (before the mv lmfao). so their first appearance wasn’t a week late, but delaying their subsequent appearances was really strange and definitely another blow to an already suffering comeback. i’m still so baffled that a2z managed to fuck everything up so poorly because we truly had it so good. i agree with your sentiment about them not really recovering from this,, a2z seems set on promoting them in japan for the time being since they have a festival performance scheduled, but i don’t know how long that will last or how much money they’ll actually be able to scrape together from it (and their two back to back japanese tours 😭). the saddest of the year trophy was unfortunately deserved sighhhh this video was really fun!! love the concept of trying companies for being incompetent and driven by capitalistic greed

red velvet after that disclaimer is a very bold move but i agree with you on the ai garbage. even as a diehard reveluv, you cannot get me to defend those original teasers. you could offer me all the money in the world to do so, and i would still say it was a creatively bankrupt decision on sm's part. it really soured what should have been a momentous occasion for both the girls and fans and knowing smngg is on the way, it's just going to get worse for us from here on out... at least the songs on cosmic (aside from sunflower, could care less for that one) were superb (bubble is one of the best songs of 2024, peak b-side) even if cosmic's midsommar aesthetic-jacking might be suspect. i know joy had to basically fight the center rv is in tooth and nail to get this cb off the ground (i believe she even had a powerpoint outlining some ideas??? she was very active in the planning process) and sm rewarded her for her input by basically not giving her any screentime :^) whyyyyyy did they renew i love being a fan of sm groups! i love being expected to clap like a seal for that company throwing scraps at me! i am so grateful that my ult group's 10th anniversary was such a letdown! edit: don't feel too self-conscious about your voice-over work!! i thought you did a great job. i could follow along with everything you were saying and your microphone quality is fine. most kpoptubers just use those tts voices which makes them all kind of blend in with each other content-wise. you using your actual voice sets you apart! my only criticism (which isn't even VO-related) is that there weren't any closed captions provided so it might be difficult for hearing impaired individuals/anyone who needs CC to understand what's being said.
