Thin Film Pressure Sensors vs. Buttons: What's Best for Robot Fingers?
Просмотров 1,2 тыс.2 месяца назад
Comment below for your chance to win this blue robot arm! Our 3D-printed robot arm, Desk Buddy, now has sensors for its fingers, allowing it to detect when it has grabbed an object. In this video, we also test TPU 3D-printed robot fingers, which operate by being pulled with a wire, similar to how tendons work in a human hand. The robot arm is controlled by an ESP32 over a Bluetooth connection. ...

    Angle of attack creates lift not "thrust". Too much AOA may will make the wing stall. A flat wing is inefficient compared to one with an aerofoil cross section. Winglets on the wing tips reduce drag but do not contribute to stability. The simple way to get stability is dihedral: the wings should be angled up slightly. Finally, you need your fore/aft weight distribution checking. Looks nose heavy to me.

      @hackertwins Месяц назад

      This is a complicated question, but "replace" is probably not the right word. Human labor (jobs) acts like a commodity, and human labor isn't going anywhere. o1 pro mode isn't much better than the previous LLM model

      @parakozmK 13 дней назад

      Most likely not, because people using the AI software would likely have to pay the company, more that what they would pay software engineers (probably a collaboration cost). It's better to get programmers that know how to use AI than fully replacing them.

    Winglets are anti-vortex devices that reduce drag- they do not add stability. For that you need dihedral. The angle of attack of the wing vs the stabilizer is also for stability, it does not affect the thrust. You also need to consider the motor thrust line and the C of G (which should be just behind the centre of lift)- you could have got the distance you did without power. Best way to get more thrust is a brushless motor. Add R/C while you are at it- the extra weight is very little these days. And recruit a pilot- small planes require skill.

  • @georgefolk3134
    @georgefolk3134 2 месяца назад

    I would just like to mention the winglets are for efficiency of a wing not stability it prevents air at normal pressure from going above the wing to lower pressure by preventing it to vortex around the wing tips they are not required and add a significant amount of weight so I would recommend removing them on the next design

      There isn't a smart phone OS that is friendly enough to make this work. Maybe you could hack a Ubuntu Phone's OS (Ubuntu Touch) to get this working, but that would be a big project. It would be easier and more affordable to use a Raspberry Pi 4 or 5.

  • @endlesswarguy

    My only question is, I thought this was comparing the two options the saying which one is better for what but like, it didn't it just kinda showed an arm you made using buttons Mentioned that the resistance sensor changed voltage on contact on that was it, so like which one do you use? Other than the downside of low detail with the button and the incompatibility of the resistance sensor with some material which one do you use for what? What's the application possibilities?

    • @hackertwins
      @hackertwins 2 месяца назад

      I actually use the same padding and pressure sensors in my walking robot. The video will be released in a few weeks. Overall you are correct, I didn't really answer "why?", but the sensor could have been used in the robot's gripper in the same way as the buttons. The Buttons are just cheaper and easier to attach.

  • @d3monikgod107
    @d3monikgod107 2 месяца назад

    I feel like you might wanna put like little pads on top of the buttons bc it looks like, (idk im just a noob who just bought a 3d printer) essentially you could 'thread the needle' with irregular objects like the boat by getting the buttons in the windows and they wouldnt sense it

    • @hackertwins

    • @superradmaker
      @superradmaker 2 месяца назад

      they should be since they are basically resistors. They are called Force Sensing Resistors or FSR's and im guessing they just need an analog pin to read the value and some fancy math to determine the force 🤷‍♀ its funny cause i was looking at FSR's awhile ago to put on a robot arm so i could sense how much force its putting on an object so it wont crush it but they used buttons and not the FSR i wonder why
