If you listen to Blackmore's last concerts with Deep Purple in 1993 there were no soul or emotion just energy out of anger. That solos were uninspired and robotic. Nothing against Blackmore - saw him with Blackmore's Night and he is a fantastic guitarist. But Steve Morse is much better for Deep Purple. They have more fun now then ever with Blackmore and if you listen to "Sometimes I feel Like Screaming" of "The Aviator" you know that Stve can also play pretty good with emotion and soul.

Great work by all. But Ian Paice belongs up there with Jon Bonham and Keith Moon. He just keeps more than the beat and uses his whole kit and he hits the cymbals hard while pounding the kit at the same time.

I know...but replacing a band member doesn't mean to find a copy of the artist...it means finding someone who matches the tastes and the feelings of the band...of course he/she needs to play/sing as well/better than the past one XD

Steve Morse BLOWS Ritchie Blackmore out of the water as far as pure technique Is concerned, and I like Ritchie Blackmore. Ritchie is currently working the 18th century renaissance festival circuit playing " wood fairy" music. I think Steve Morse is actually still playing rock music.

What is the difference between a really really good guitarist (Steve Morse) and a genius (Blackmore)? Easy: Blackmore has CREATED some of the best tracks in rock history, Morse just plays them.....

I personally prefer blackmore form a "blood" point of view, but you have to admin you're talking about real monsters here ;o)
