I have an issue with my top number just spinning. I know the combo, but the top number is very loose and spinnable. Doesn’t have the clicking like the others. I can’t find an answer on how to get it off my gate. Any help?

yes, it's really that easy people! buy better locks. I usually just rake these instead of SPP, but it's good as a training lock to do SPP. I started with a clear training lock, which is great to show what is actually happening to conceptualize the insides.

Good job! I have more trouble with these and some of the ace brass padlocks than I do with a few blue belt locks.

U can also drill the pins and a screwdriver, hell a fingernail, will open that lock. Use a small drill bit if u dont want it to be easily noticed.

I have two of these that are open and not left on the code. Can you tell me how to close it so I can break the code opening it? I tried pushing down on the hasp and using your method - in reverse as it were, but no luck. ?

I know this is a really old video but I just popped open one of these using tension on the bottom, I turned the reset knob until I heard a different click. Someone else in comments said that the tension on the shackle no longer works as a hack but the bottom dial does 😅hope that this helps anyone stuck with this lock

Unfortunately my lock I got for my storage unit only needs one pin picked to open. But it's helped me get in when I forget my keys. I'll be switching it out shortly.

Once I realized the number it should be on isn't the tightest, but the one it immediately loosens on (right after the tightest), had the lock open in less than 3mins. Works on every lock like this, with the dials, that I have. New skill acquired.

My main problem is the tension I can't find a tool that will hold the tension I mean can I stick a tool all the way in the lock and still hold the tension?

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. I literally struggled with this lock for over 6 hours. I then got frustrated and set it away for a month until I saw this video. I watched this video till the 1:14 mark and opened it. I'll finish the video though :D My problem was way too much tension. None of the videos I saw explained that the extra tension causes oversetting. I looked at the amount of a divot that the tension wrench put in your finger and tensioned it exactly as you show. Got it open in about a minute. Just picked an old no1 that was trashed and cut due to the welder's key arching out and melting the tip.

Is there a method to find the correct combination of one of these that is opened? I have one that my ex changed the combination by mistake while it was opened at the gym - i don't know how but she already did that with half a dozen locks, but this is the one i couldn't recover yet.

What's the best don't break the bank source of tools for a No. 5 just to starting anyone? I legit have a No. 5 on a tool chest of mine I need to get into. The stupid lock is recessed so I can't whack it or cut it. Might as well use this as an entry into the hobby. I've always been fascinated with the engineering of lock picks....thanks all!
